Firstly, next season is a pathetic time frame for this.
Secondly, still not fun to grind for cores. Still stops people from using what they want or actually masterworking things.

It's not very preventative as you don't need high light for 99% of the activities in the game

Edited by NathanDTS: 3/22/2019 1:37:13 AMI guess so, but half the game is about increasing the number on the gear you like. Plus, I'd say that's more down to a lack of content in the DLC.

I always thought it was about playing the game and having fun. If all you do is chase a number, I understand how it can get boring very easily though

It isn’t about “chasing” anything. As a player goes up in light level, they obviously want to use the gear that they’re both comfortable with and enjoy using. Once a player reaches maximum light, they obviously don’t want to go backwards by equipping lower power level gear. I mean, the light level is the most prominent feature that is displayed on people’s emblems... why the hell would someone who has made it to light level 700 want to show off a 695?

Progression is a motivator. New content is a motivator. Currently, I'm only really playing on Fridays because Xur Bounties are the only new content in the game. I don't play the same nightfall hundreds of times for a perfect roll on a weapon and I don't play to waste my time grinding materials.

Well theres the problem Progression shouldn't be your only motivator.

The sentences about new content?

New content that you can progress through.
