There is almost no chance of winning after losing one or two teammates. Why do I get penalized for someone else leaving? I understand they get penalized as well, but the remaining players should not lose any Glory upon that loss. It’s frequent enough for me to be a serious problem.
Edit: I really see no good reason for this. It may not be a simple fix, but a fix should be of the most importance. It really just punishes solo queue players. Competitive is not enjoyable. Period.
Edit again: I wish I could tell how many games I played that my teammates left, but Destiny Tracker doesn’t record that I think. If I had to guess, I’d say about a quarter of the about 30-40 games I played today. This system is not fair but punitive and not enjoyable in the least as a solo player.
Last edit: Eh, forget it. Clearly not that important of an issue. Wasn’t aware of the apathetic complacency of the topic. Never mind, go home.
Last last edit: Since more people are seeing this now. I understand the obvious fix is exploitable, i.e. no lost Glory to the players that stay in the match. I believe that can be worked around.
BUT there are other possible solutions. As suggested by a few people, increase the penalty for those who left with each consecutive offense.
Timed bans, 30 mins of IN-GAME time for one offense, increase that time to days for consecutive offenses.
Decrease the lost Glory for those who stay by a percentage according to how many people left (e.g., 25% decrease for one player left, 50% for two).
Make the penalty for players who stayed reflect their individual performance in the match (not the same for each player). In fact, it would be nice to see if Glory could work like this across the board. I understand this is difficult to implement, but hey it’s a suggestion.

4 years later and it's still a problem lol

138 RepliesEdited by Cozmo: 3/21/2019 5:07:42 PMI will pass along your suggestion that the players should not lose glory after someone else has quit. There is a lot of ways this would be abused though. We could try to solve for them.

6 RepliesYour point is valid and important, don’t let people who disagree grind you down. Playing crucible sucks for a lot of reasons, this is one, and there is a reason the crucible player population is so low especially in comp.
-
6 RepliesThere's no solution for this. "Elite players" must get fodder to chew, must have idiots to stomp at. How you suppose to balance this stuff ? The only solution is to completely remove punishment for loosing. It will simply become generic FFA.

1 ReplyHad this happen with my clanmates last night in comp last 2 matches our random left and we managed to win one but lost the last loosing our streak 😩we could have won had he not left and he was doing good maybe he lagged out but it does suck

Edited by Ardour: 3/22/2019 12:50:56 PMCompetitive is broken mode, mate. The way they made dis mode actualy turned it roulette with no skills invoved: you can get premade on the opposite team, you can get 3v4 or even 2v4 matchers (have that all the time) etc. Last time I had 2v4 we even lost to other team with 5/6 score. Me and my teammate, had way more kills than any of four players in the other team, and like waaay better k/d. But still 2v4 is 2v4 and we lost. And game cut my score and shuts down my winstreak. Competitive aint evaluates how YOU actually play. QP has more competitive spirt than the actual Comp itself. And pure skillbased mode is only rumble. But yeah, they locked best guns in worst pvp mode.

As someone who very rarely bales on a match (maybe once, twice *three times a lady* at the very most)... I don't want to be penalised for a one off, or for things outside my control (ddos or errors)! I can understand your frustration... that level is obscene! I think it just goes to show the lack of patience people have with the mode; and if someone's already on a losing streak you can't fault them for wanting to quit! If you want improvements, the solution may not be penalising players; that will just narrow the people prepared to play even more - the game mode itself needs to be improved!!
-
maybe if someone leaves in around a minute in, the match should end as a draw and shaxx says le funny line

1 ReplyI see what your saying but what’s to stop a trash 4 stack from having someone leave so the rest don’t take any glory loss? I wish they would of taken care of PVP like they did with gambit. We deserve better than what we have.

1 ReplyI honestly think the reason they don't really address any of the problems with crucible like this is because the really have no idea what to do to fix it. There are a lot of solutions being put out there by players, but as to whether or not they are viable is unknown because Bungie will not tell us if it can or cannot be done. All of which leaves us in an endless loop of regurgitating ideas across countless posts and this spinning of wheels only builds up our frustration and we start lashing out. Meanwhile they have to keep working on new content to keep the game from getting stale and some balancing issues with matchmaking seems like small potatoes compared to creating new story, gameplay mechanics, game modes, and gear. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if the reason Trials and Factions were removed, was because they couldn't fix it or think of a direction for them to go so they've been on the back burner this whole time (stove might not even be on at this point). I honestly don't think matchmaking will ever be fixed AND be fair to all players, stacks or solos. Maybe we should brace ourselves for that if or when it comes?
-
Most likely because "Reasons." I've had the same thing happen.
-
I dont think they want you to play anymore.

5 RepliesI like how Cozmo will reply to bullshit about Heroic Story Missions but not issues like this.

3 RepliesDestiny forums are unfortunately filled with people that don't care and think the game is perfect, citing "You're just mad cuz bad" when it comes to crucible issues. Or people that outright hate it. Complaints are rarely appreciated. People are too stuck up on here I'm afraid. I agree though. Comp is bad and has been bad since Season 4 and Forsaken dropped. I miss Season 3 immensely when I could use any Autorifles or Sub Machine gun, or even Sidearms, Scout Rifles and not clearly be at a disadvantage. It really shouldn't be this hard to balance a game like this, but Bungie can't comprehend that the game needs to be balanced for PvE and PvP separately as possible. Pinnacle PvP weapons such as Luna's, Not Forgotten were a mistake. Should not have ever existed. Shotguns were fine when they pre-2.0. 2 shot kills for Pump. 3-4 shot for Semi-Auto. They were fine. They didn't need one-shot kill capability in a game where the time to kill is supposed to be longer proven by the fact if YOU HAVE A GODDAMN SHIELD. But nope, people will tell you that you're being silly because you won't use Dust Rock/Luna's/Wardcliff+Catalyst every single game + whatever OP exotic for each class is available.
-
2 RepliesIf somebody leaves the match, Bungie should balance the scales by booting a member of the other team.
-
1 ReplyThe only viable option is to remove the comp's harsh loss punishment. Make loss = 0 points. That way players won't be put in a bad position as having somebody leaves their team for whatever reason. And gives other players a chance to rank up without worrying about the inevitable misfortune that happens in comp.
-
1 ReplyEdited by Super68: 3/21/2019 10:40:36 AMAll of PVP is toxic at this point (from QP matchmaking to your situation in Comp), and the PVP folks at Bungie are not interested in making changes - even though these issues have been brought to their attention for months. They don't care about your situation.

5 RepliesEdited by iliopoulosXD: 3/21/2019 10:06:47 AMYou werent aware of the apathy on this forum? Its pathetic. We have a great community but a lot of topics by frustrated and concerned guardians with legitimate criticism about the game or thoughtful suggestions are cannibalized by a "git good" attitude, play another game or it never happens to me rationalizations or at its worst out right insults. Guardian you are exactly right. Comp, match making and the solo grind for the crucible pinnacle rewards is..for lack of a better term...a total s#!& show. Its bungies job to listen and fix it.
-
7 RepliesOne of the ways I see to fix it. Do away with Win / Loss advancement & make it by Kills. So many Kills give You a Point, say 10 kills equal a point You pick up a a Competitive Bounty like sigil from Shaxx, You do 500 kills to fill it & when You turn it in to Shaxx you get 50 Points & a new Sigil to fill. That way you could still advance even if people left your team or get lagged out.
-
I agree! Let's face it, Competitive is a cesspool right now and very few people like it as is. They need to either completely remove loosing rank on a loss or SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the amount ... perhaps you lose 15 points per loss and that's that. As it is now... the ONLY reason I ever step foot into that shit show is when there is a quest that requires it.
-
3 RepliesYou know they could solve a lot of the problems they're having right now by just having Ironic Blammer award glory for wins but not deduct it for losses. Giving players who are having a hard time an event that rolls through a few times a season they can grind hard on to get as many victories and there for as many points as they can without losses making them lose points. Maybe 50% of normal glory points awarded to make up for the lack of reduction on losses. Yeah I know people gonna flip out. Personally I'd rather people still be playing the game in six months and giving other means to people who are willing to grind for it when they are given the chance. If you don't care enough to play iron banner when it comes up for an opportunity to make some headway, then you just don't care enough to reach those milestones.

6 RepliesEdited by SHDGunner: 3/21/2019 11:08:35 AMSimple. If you mitigated the penalty for losing when someone leaves, you'd have teams gaming the ranking system by having people leave losing matches. They'd just have a different person leave each to reduce the risk of getting suspended. It's a ranked game mode. So you its designed for teams, and you put yourself at a major disadvantage by showing up without a team.
-
3 RepliesTo be fair, a lot of people leave the game after the team is already getting slaughtered.
-
Im with you man. I truly believe that the easiest and quickest fix for this is to remove, if not drastically reduce the penalty for losing. Judging a player based on their personal performance would be ideal, but that would require tons of time and work to polish a system like that. Obviously, going in with a full fireteam of friends helps avoid the problem, but with matchmaking an option, that shouldn't be considered a fix for the issue.
-
Easiest solution is Points for personal performance instead of the team. Team win/lose is utter nonsense if you think about it.
-
Bigger bans will destroy an already small crucible population. Spend development time fixing the reason(s) why that person wants to leave.
