STREAMERS DO NOT REPRESENT THE COMMUNITY!

Is this plain and simple enough for you to understand? How much more do we have to say about this topic. Upvote please get this on the top of the forums! Update: great response! Let’s see if anyone at the top acknowledge this post. Update: well we got an answer but no real change, let’s face it the game is about $$$$ and that’s all. Streamers provide free advertising and that’s it. Side note I looked but not one of the money grubbing streamers replied to post (I could be wrong) but that just shows you they are not in touch with the community.

  • Don't they though? Isn't the entire reason they have any kind of say is because they have the support of tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of players?

    • So I suppose uhhhh.... you do? I'll tell you what. The dumbasses who mindlessly conform to the hive mind on these forums absolutely don't represent me and absolutely don't represent the community. Look through these forums at all the stupid posts complaining about nothing. The vogue criticisms and arguments employed here are almost exclusively unintelligent, demonstrably false, and are usually straight up contradictory. The average person is a complete and utter moron who's knowledge of video games extends no deeper than COD and Madden, and they have no true point of reference for what a good game actually looks like.

      • Streamers may not represent the community, but please don't say the people on these forums do. If bungie listened to 80% of the crap on these forums, the game would be garbage. Honestly, the community as a whole are silent and just play the game.

I assume this in response to what Dmg said yesterday in response to another thread concerning streamers attending the summit.
The players selected for this summit are also representing their respective corners of the internet, covering feedback topics from their communities to discuss.
What Dylan said is true. Players who have large communities around them take feedback from a large number of players into consideration before they pass it along to us. Do any of them individually or as a group represent the entire Destiny community? Of course not. No one does. No one can. The community is made up of a large amount of players who enjoy different things and have different opinions on what changes should be made. You can see that represented every day in "spirited debates" on this very forum. Should we only invite streamers to play content and give us feedback? No. Which is why we didn't. Some of the players we invited to come in a few weeks were streamers/youtube, some were not. We have also already had groups of players come in to play content and give feedback who are not streamers, podcasters, or highly visible members of the community in any way. The main thing to remember is that none of the players who come in to give us feedback are decision makers. The dev team here at Bungie take feedback from forums, twitter, reddit, facebook, Instagram - pretty much anywhere players can type words that we can read. We combine that in with the data we have showing how players play and make decisions based on a combination of feedback, data, and design expertise. Don't target anyone in the community as a scapegoat, we are making this game and responsible for the changes made to it.

They should talk to the 11 million players they lost, instead of elitist YouTubers.

          • I think it’s amusing that we need community representatives of any kind, jees, gaming is like a job with a union these days. How about the management at bungie lift their damn game and make a decent product, after all that’s what we bloody pay them for.

          • I think it’s sad when a dev like bungie needs help to make a game. What’s happened to all the “data” gathered in the last 4-5 years? Surely you must have learnt something?

            • Agreed. When Destiny needed leaders most, where were those streamers? Oh, they moved on to Fortnite. I’m in agreement with OP here. Streamers neither represent we average gamers nor are they leaders of THIS community. Leaders do NOT do this: https://www.vg247.com/2018/01/22/top-destiny-2-youtubers-and-twitch-streamers-are-moving-away-from-regular-destiny-content/

              • Agreed. Just because I might enjoy someone’s sense of humor and watch the occasional guide video from them, doesn’t mean I see the game the same way as them. Everyone should do what Myelin did last time, and make surveys to see what feedback their communities want to be taken to Bungie.

              • Theres nothing to stop them giving us polls and surveys in-game, give those who participate an exotic engram or something. Get as many views as possible. Streamers have their own agenda, they make money out of it so anything they believe will bring more viewers or fit their own styles will be their priority. And controversy often courts more media attention than that which pleases people.

                  • I agree I feel like the more they focused on streamer input the further the game has gotten from feeling like a bungie game. It's really losing its near monopoly on gaming for me personally as it's core is almost totally different now. Hope d3 is a HUGE game changer because this game is fatally flawed right now.

                    • Personally I never understood the whole relevance of a streamer. Why would I want to watch someone else play a game that I already own and can play myself? It just seems stupid to me.

                    • to those saying that we are core wanting, want everything given to us en-titlists please consider. streamer mentality has pushed this game in a direction most dont want. 1) last season the highest forum up vote was for a remove cores post with over 1600, the next highest was bringing back d1 Armour with over 800. what was one of bungies big announcements.... "we hear you want to meet our development team, we will playing gambit at this time" i dont know any normal player that wanted that, in fact from what i understand several steamers were there for that. hmmm coincidence i think not. 2)this seasons pinnacle weapons versus last seasons. last season was done right by that i mean it was doable. 40 strikes/gambit matches 500 headshots and 200 multi kills. even if you only play 2/3 times a week for an hour or two you could still over the course of the season get these. this season if you cant for whatever reason do nightfalls your doing 100 strikes, 1000 precision hits and 250 orbs. if your thinking wait why cant you do nightfalls well thats because of point 3 3)not everyone started at 650 for the season, and its arrogance to think why not? even with the catch up bounties etc not everyone will be up to standards for nightfalls if you go by lfg. must be certain LL etc. wait make your own post well i did and waited 25 minutes with no luck. not everyone falls into the "correct" time frame that some lucky people can always get 4)gambit private matches, i went back through alot of posts when i first heard about this. i couldnt find one on people asking for this. this is streamers wanting to show off boss melting and team stomping, nothing but an ego boost and content creation pure and simple 5) last word/thorn/ace of spades quests. these laundry lists are getting more and more ridiculous, just a grindy mess designed to frustrate. i can forgive ace of spades as the last bit of the quest was more of a tribute to cayde, fleshing his character out just a bit more before we said goodbye. but there is no development in any of the other quests. atleast you got a decent hand canon at the end, the allegiance quest rewards are just screaming "lets not make it to easy we need more of a challenge" these are some of the main points i know there are alot more but just remember not all of us can do 8 hours a day or have everything line up for us. streamers are out of touch with reality and the fact that bungie use reddit not there own forums for feed back puts them in the same boat

Devs gather feedback from streamers 99.9% of the time this is why game updates become very annoying for casual players who dont stream. Streamers make up a VERY small percentage of the community like 0.5% and devs think that thats a great idea no its not what about your complete of 99.95% of your community gathering feedback from that small of a community is HIGHLY ANNOYING and straight up just disrespectful to the rest of the community who play the game every day or try to play it every day and provide their OWN feedback on the game only for it be ignored and overruled by 0.5% of players so in reality his topic is very true streamers arent part of the community they are 0.5% of the community. Devs gather feedback from them so much from streamers as aposed to gathering feedback from 99% of there community because its to much of a hassle and has to many mixed feedback that they cant figure out who has the majority of the feedback so instead they just said lets just take feedback from pros and streamer why not they only make less than 1% of the community so it’ll be easy to get feedback why not. Also not to mention streamers get a fair amount of there ideas on feedback from their viewers which in some cases their viewers are PRETTY toxic so that roaring feedback is only adding to insult on a already toxic game. So ya

No, they don't, but Bungie said they do so what does that say about your opinion?
The main thing to remember is that none of the players who come in to give us feedback are decision makers.
So Datto had nothing to do with why the cores that were created only to masterwork items was changed that changed the entire infusion system that no one asked for?
The dev team here at Bungie take feedback from forums, twitter, reddit, facebook, Instagram - pretty much anywhere players can type words that we can read. We combine that in with the data we have showing how players play and make decisions based on a combination of feedback, data, and design expertise.
So all the feedback from D1 and D2 with the data and expertise came out to the devs that the gamers wanted the game to be another job vs respecting a gamers time keeping a gamer engaged in the game?
Don't target anyone in the community as a scapegoat, (we are making this game and responsible for the changes made to it.
Edit: So is safe to say all the people blaming the community for Bungie's action has been wrong this entire time? In the 4+ years, I don't ever recall seeing Bungie trying to own up to their own actions. I mean they said Tess wasn't meant as end-game content and here we are back right where Tess was a problem back in y1 of D2. Can this company explain why Tess (is always well taken care of) but since Forsaken released they have left the actual vendors that are important in this game in a very poor state? I get this company needs the money, but what I don't get how Tess is always thought of and vendors like the gunsmith looks like a used car salesman that has an empty lot. Yet in y1 he had a full lot. Hmm... Maybe this company should be taking that money that they (are going to waste flying gamers out to the studio and actually apply it to the game.) This is not an insult, but being in business for 30 years and working on a project with 4 years of feedback of all that feedback Cozmo said isn't enough to know how to get your game moving forward that you "need' a community summit again? I'm sorry but Bungie, you literally have the entire D1 to use that can actually improve this game and for you to not use that info. You're right, you make the changes and you're responsible for your own actions and that means your investment team and sandbox as well that have made a hell of a lot of poor decisions. As always, your actions will show the truth. What you do with the info given to you is on you and only you. Your player base has given you well over enough info in the last 4+ years and money for any company in this entire world to make a decent game and spend that money investing it into this game.

Indeed, All Bungie does is kiss the asses of Steamers. Like the prick Kackis, If you’re not a sweaty hardcore they don’t give 2 fking shits about how the game is for you.

                            • They sure don't. Destiny 2 as it stands is a direct result of 'community feedback'. When they have this community -- streamer summit, who is going to represent the solo players? Who is the streamer that's going to bring up enhancement cores or how much of chore D2 has become? No one because it's the D2 they wanted. Bungie, if you want feedback, take it from everyone; hardcore, casual, solo, and group players.
