.....instead I'm forced into using them to infuse gear.
What is the point of even being able to "masterwork" gear if the materials to do so are so obscenely hard to acquire?
17 cores to Masterwork a weapon on top of 2 - 3 more cores each time you decide to bring it's power up is a broken system without a way to reliably actually acquire said materials in any meaningful way.
As far as I'm concerned the whole "masterwork" system doesn't exist since I can't take advantage of it unless something drops for me already fully masterworked. That is development time wasted on a system that is rarely used or appreciated.

14 RepliesRemember when infusion was just 1000 glimmer and 4 legendary shards? And when Masterwork cores were meant for masterworking? :-(

You made me think of a good point. I like MW cores and the current infusion system... However players should be able to grind a given activity to receive them directly
-
1 Replylol imagine crying about cores. Man if only they were just a little more abundant. If only they didnt require grinding. If only you could easily save up enough to infuse over 100 pieces of gear. Oh wait.... did I just describe the current core economy? Man it’s not like I have over 300 from doing absolutely no grind.

2 RepliesEdited by Remi: 3/12/2019 4:30:31 AMDude...you have 3 Guardians 670+ with one being 680+. You should have full masterwork armor sets and weapons for every raid and activity by now. If not you're doing something terribly wrong. Stop crying, you look ridiculous to people that actually open their eyes. There is no "core" problem. The only problem is people wanting everything NOW due to them being needy and impatient but they use the word "fun" to cover their true motives. That's called acting like a child. Sadly there are so many of you that you bombard the forums with upvotes for whiny post and downvotes for when people call you out with facts. How the hell is everyone going to play for months while having the ability to stock up mats and have the dates for expansion drops going to complain about lack of mats. It makes no sense. These forums are useless and filled with nothing but idiots and cry babies. Unfortunately that's the popular thing to be these days. 680+ crying about masterworks cores...../facepalm.

I'm not using "enhancement cores" to enhance armor or weapons.....
en·hance /inˈhans,enˈhans/Submit verb intensify, increase, or further improve the quality, value, or extent of. So... You're not using Cores for anything at all? That's a good thing. You should be building a nice stack of them since you're not using them.

You're enhancing the gear by bringing it from a lower level to a higher level. Welcome to THE GRIND.

1 ReplyThe point of the cores in infusion is to make sure your infusing what you want, and not just everything under the sun. In the process it’s lets out try new things and may find some weapon you really like. And for those who put in the time, and play the game a lot, they have the ability to use those cores to further enhance their weapons by master working.
-
EXACTLY!!!! Would make sense if you were able to ABUNDANTLY get cores...but you aren't.... It's just an added wrinkle to HEAVILY prolong play time.
-
Bungie just does not get it. Make upgrades simple. Duh.

1 ReplyEdited by Flea Flicker: 3/12/2019 12:54:53 PMTo masterwork a weapon can be worth the cores spent, depending on the roll. However, what is the purpose for masterworking armor when the bonuses are not noticeable when compared to non-masterwork armor. Bungie has forced us to but a lot of thought into what we choose to infuses. All 3 of my characters went from looking nice in full armory armor sets to looking like someone with zero sense of style going crazy in a thrift store.
-
3 RepliesThe thing is "enhancing" your weapons are armor in not actually enhancing them. All you are doing is increasing the arbitrary power number just to hit requirements for activities. Enhancements improve things. Enhancement core don't enhance anything.
-
Getting rid of cores for infusion wouldn't negatively impact game play at all!! It was a change that nobody asked for and that makes no sense.

7 RepliesI saved to about 160 “cores” when Drifter dropped. I’ve infused the gear I use most across all 3 Guardians and have about 101 cores left. I have no regerts. Once I reach 700 light on all 3 Guardians, I’ll have around 50-55 cores left. I play the way I want. I don’t complain or whine on the forums about the resource poverty. I deal with the consequences for my infusion decisions and will continue to do so. Juda7

i got about 140 items just chilling in my vault, some MW some not, couldn't care less. i cleaned my titan last night, - dismantled all the 650 and under shit. sad - last week 650 = relevant this week = 650 still relevant because PL loot drops are buggy as FK. next week = "LOL your still 650, git gut scrub i am 680 lol elol snorfelol"
-
5 RepliesI saved them had about 100 last week have 75 now. It's the 6th season halfway through year 2. This is not something new for people to be complaining about enhancement cores at this point is baffling. You already knew in advance. It's on you how you decide to use your enhancement cores.
-
I know there a problem so guess what I save and wait to infuse i rather save than waist all my cores and complain
-
3 RepliesMeh, not even a problem if you understand that light levels are only required by a few things. Being smart is hard... I.. guess???
-
They should give out 1 core for every strike done. They should give out 1 core for every crucible match. Also, they should give out 1 core after every public event. You know, make it more easy to get without collecting stuff to buy a bounty
-
I haven’t played this game in months and this is still a thing? Shows you how much bungie listens to its community.
-
.....instead I'm forced into using them to infuse gear.
1. No you're not. 2. Infusing something is enhancing it.
-
The only masterworks I have were thing that already dropped fully masterworked. 😕
-
Yeah. I don't know anyone who has their armor masterworked. We might be able to get a few more Enhancement Cores now, but they are used up so fast. It costs too many cores to masterwork anything. ...now that I think about it, I've only masterworked a handful of weapons. It's gotten to the point where I don't even think about trying to masterwork anything. I tend to do the bounties and buy a couple Enhancement cores every day, but I don't use them because they took so long to get and masterworking one weapon will deplete most of the supply. So, I'm always waiting for "the perfect weapon" to masterwork. Well, I always think that weapon is going to be the next one.

5 RepliesEdited by Zurrke: 3/11/2019 4:10:40 PMStop infusing your favorite gear during leveling. I had to learn this too but if you care about power level you HAVE to be willing to either play with gear that isn't your favorite or spend cores on keeping it up. Personally, while power leveling, I just keep all of my highest light gear on my character but not equipped, and I continue to use the loadout I love. When it comes to content where power level advantages are enabled, I am forced to either use my most powerful weapons or infuse those into my favorite weapons. Currently, there is nothing outside of Reckoning that requires max LL for anything; the raids and forges cap out at 650, less in some cases, so to me there's no reason to infuse my gear at all. I masterwork my favorite weapons and then wait for a higher LL drop of the same item or just be a man and take the infusion cost as is to keep it up. I personally like this system as it forces you to make decisions. HOWEVER Drop rates for cores are ABYSMALLY low and this system would not be as flawed if cores were more abundant.
-
Requiring cores for infusion is terrible. A really bad idea by Bungie.
-
For someone without hundreds of hours of play time available, agree cores limit choice and diversity. I'll work/max any weapon that's comfortable enough and don't really care anymore if my guardian looks as if she dresses at a dumpster diving party. :p
