GAMBIT PRIME IS NOT REWARDING...Plain and Simple!!!
I’m finding it hard to play. The only thing I want from Gambit Prime are the guns. BUT THEY ARE SO HARD TO ATTAIN thanks to crap RNG.
Every match of Gambit Prime only drops Synths. I’ve only gotten 3 gun drops (really only 2 because 2 drops were the pulse rifle). Those 3 drops were from the guaranteed bounty for each character. I haven’t seen a single in-game drop and I’ve probably played 30 Gambit prime matches.
This Content is pretty terrible. My personal opinion, but I’ve always hated Gambit because BUNGIE’s reasoning for wanting the losing team to be able to catch up makes the game pretty boring and lackluster. Add “No real Rewards” to the mix and it creates a reason to play something else.
I’ll play until I get Thorn next week, then D2 will probably get saddled for a bit until the Gambit focused play has passed.

Ive played maybe 10 games of prime. If you want some tips, I got two shotguns, one was curated from killing an invader with Jotuun. I also got the curated side arm from Reckoning.

No I’m not having that. In gambit prime it doesn’t matter who spawns their prime evil first, both teams still have a chance at winning. Due to the amount of invades, a trailing team can keep the opposing team from winning as long as they win a 4v1 when they invade. It’s not hard, just play smarter.

Yeah I played for hours over the weekend and literally got nothing. Close to done with it at this point. Can’t believe they abandoned traditional PvP and PvE for this.

1 ReplyIt’s designed to keep you grinding, it’s not designed to be rewarding. If it were actually rewarding you’d get bored and leave, at least according to Bungie’s team of experts. It would be so refreshing if they trusted their game to keep us playing because we’re enjoying it instead of figuring out new ways to hang a carrot on a stick and keep us grinding like a bunch of addicts.

Gambit Prime could have been awesome if they only FIXED what is wrong with mote pickups, laggy ass enemies (It is NOT my internet, I am running excellent network stats). O.P enemies (reminds me of when the first forge came out, remember the issue there). Timers are too long and basically it is a shit tank. I wish it would get better. I have not even got a weapon from any drops and I was playing awesome yesterday.

You get guns from doing Feats, as an example. I invade alot, I have over 805 Gambit prime kills. And for invading with a Sniper, and Nation of Beast I was able to achieve a Team Wipe. Three Sniper kills, and a single hand cannon kill. I was then rewarded the curated Sole Surviver(Sniper). I've also been rewarded the shotgun for doing [i]something[/i]. But I have no clue why, or how. You do get rewards, just not how you want them to give them to you. Like a fat kid on Halloween who's getting upset because people aren't giving him candy. Little do you realize you never put on a costume. My complaint however with retrieving the loot from doing these feats is, to my knowledge there's no way to know what the feats are besides word of mouth. I wish they were tied to Triumphs' while at best I imagine people would want exact wording. As an example with the aforementioned sniper something along this: Get a rapid sniper kill while invading and wiping their team. While personally as a more hard core player I'd prefer nods at it. Such as: Impress the Drifter While invading with a sniper in hand for this reward. Though even that would eventually be deconstructed by the hard core players eventually becoming common knowledge on how to obtain weapons. And while I'm at it I've heard(not received) The Reckoning Teir 2 has a decent chance at dropping the weapons you desire. With that all said and done, git gud. The one thing black armoury did really well was letting grind a specific weapon, why they could t have done something similar I dont know.

Gambit is not fun. Gambit Prime is worst because it's neither fun nor rewarding as a time investment. If you are going to make your RNG rewards merit based, explicitly state it, so I can just avoid wasting my time. The one thing season of the forge did well was to make the rewards guaranteed drops that you could farm for rolls. Artificially extending the life of your content by locking rewards behind layers of RNG is problematic. The game loop you sought to create is fundamentally flawed in that, if I don't care to play gambit, why would I play reckoning? It's a shame though, because reckoning is pretty fun. I have no motivation to participate in an activity that exists to reward me with armor to partake in an activity I care for even less for. The fact that you added 1 Gun to the Crucible vendor and 1 Gun to vanguard strike vendor, while not adding any new nightfalls and or nightfall rewards shows that you have a distinct lack of ability to create an adequate amount content. The simplest solution, which I still don't understand why hasn't happened, would be to add random rolls to every year 1 weapon and armor set that currently drops from planetary vendors. Each week, give them a rotating stock of randomly rolled equipment for purchase. This would give a lot of people something to chase, without being shoe horned into a game mode they may not care for. Either way, I just wanted to express my distaste for this latest "content" drop, and honestly I was already pretty disappointed with season of the forge already. I'd like to get my money back for this season pass, but I guess I'll just wait and hope that "Season of oppulence" is less disappointing. However the recent history does not leave me with much hope in those regards. Don't @ me bro. Just needed a place that bungie might read to let them know I hate this game mode.

What about the armour! Can someone at Bungie please enlighten us about the thinking behind designing Drifter tier 1 & tier 2 armour. It seems to me like this armour will become useless and superseded after the release of tier 3. IMO it is the scandalous the way Bungie introduces guns, armour, currencies ,etc that they then render useless season after season. Just think for a minute about the asset waste that Bungie display. I don't get it.

There are specific things you can do to increase your chances of getting certain weapons. Like for example, if you invade and kill all 4 enemy gaurdians, you have a higher chance of getting the sniper. There are other things to do for the other weapons but I don't know what they are.
