Credit Resets
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occuring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.

[b]Edit 1[/b]: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via itentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
[b]Edit 2[/b]:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Why spend time on designing and implementing a banning system if they could simply just reset and fix the exploit?[/quote] If banning people is their way of fixing the exploit, then a warning should have given. If they just fixed the exploit, would they have still banned people? If the answer is no, then the "fix" that Bungie is implementing is too harsh and sudden, the fix being resetting acounts.

How do they deserve it? I admit the ones who intentionally looked on youtube to find the glitch do deserve it. But the ones who didn't even know that they would get banned for it because their freinds and Bungie told them they won't don't deserve to get banned.

Anyway, if you had read my post, you'd notice that I said these are authorized by Bungie. These have an in-game failsafe to each of them. You can exploit MM over and over to gain cR, the consequence is that you get bored or you'll want to play some other game mode. Farming in Campaign makes cR earned decline when you complete a tier for any Commendation. You'll end up with 0 for every Elite slain or Grunt killed the more you farm. cR Resetting is GAMEBREAKING. Who needs to play any Game Mode for Halo Reach when you can reset this challenge for 2500cR for as long as you want? Screw the daily cap, you can easily get around that! See what I mean now? These "abuses" are authorized because they have in-game consequences that work as a series failsafe scenarios. Gruntpocalypse is a playlist, why should you get banned from playing a playlist too much? (no such thing!) As for the Target Locator trick, the credits will begin to decline the more you do it regardless of cap. Eventually, you'll earn 0 cR when you exploit this. The cR reset is an entirely different story. There are NO in-game consequences and further abuse will render the amount of cR earned from different game modes useless since they could just reset the challenge and infinitely earn however amount of cR the challenge is worth without any reduction whatsoever. THAT'S why it's bannable. They did not intentionally want this. You are the indignant fool in this case.[/quote] Coming from the scrub who boosts in campaign. And I did Farm my Campaign and Firefight, but Bungie cosideres that not cheating, and what u guys did WAS cheating. Saying my quotes are invalid!? Both of you're lives should be invalid since u need to cheat on a video game. HOW SAD
