Gambit Prime tips

Gambit Prime is here! It seems like most of the forum posters aren't thrilled about the new game mode--then again, the people who post here mostly just complain about stuff, so it's not surprising. However! I believe that sharing a few tips I've learned while playing Prime will be helpful to my fellow Destiny bros/gals. Feel free to add your own. 1. [Get a team./b] Yeah, I know. Teaming up with strangers can either be a wonderful experience or a complete nightmare, but it's crucial for this game type. It's similar to the competitive playlist in the Crucible--communication is key. You don't have to become friends with the players or even like them, but basic coordination will put you miles ahead of your mute opponents. Don't have friends or are just too shy to go find one? Are you on Xbox? Then you can join our clan, "Gut's Traveling Party". I didn't name it, ok? But we're a friendly group of misfits that will take in any shy boys or shy girls that need a team to play Prime with. 2. Bank big. Bank together. Banking your blockers in Prime in small drips is no longer a viable strategy. In Prime, sending two or more blockers to your opponent's side will drain any motes that they've stored in their bank. The mote drain is severe, roughly 1 mote a second. Work with your team to bank your motes and send blockers over in groups, and send big boy blockers as often as you can. 3. Be the first team to bank. Okay, you and your team have a mix of blockers ready to go after killing the first two waves. Bank those motes! If you can send your block party first, then your invader can wipe out your opponents while the enemy team has motes burning a hole in their pockets. This will give your team a huge time advantage. 4. Medium blockers are awesome. My team and I believe that medium blockers (the Taken Captains) are the best bang for your buck when it comes to blockers. The Captains are the only blockers with shields, they teleport waaay too much, and throw the shadow balls that blind players. They are a general pain in the neck to deal with. Send two or three at the same time and you'll be putting the pressure on your opponents. 5. Someone has to do the dirty work. And by "dirty work" I mean "protecting the bank". One person on your team MUST be the dedicated Sentry. It's not a glorious line of work, but it's absolutely critical to ensure the success of your team. A dedicated Sentry will kill blockers the moment they are summoned and will actively hunt down the invader when they...well, when they invade. Did anybody on your pickup team say they're gonna be the Sentry? No? Well, then I guess you're gonna be the Sentry. 6. Don't underestimate the mobs. They hit much harder in Prime, especially the big "Deceived" enemies. You'll need to work together to bring these baddies down. 7. Save your supers for the 3/4 round of Primeval slayer. You'll hardly do any damage during the first couple of rounds against the Primeval, even while standing in the Well of Light. Save your supers to burn the boss down in the 3 and/or 4th rounds of Primeval slayer. 8. Use Taken mods on your gear. The mods are incredibly useful in Prime; my personal favorite is "Taken Armaments", which grants you heavy ammo if you kill Taken enemies with grenades. You can find these mods as random drops in the Last Wish raid. That's all the tips I have for now. If you went into a Prime match solo and had a terrible time, then try getting a team together. Trust me, it makes the match muuuuch easier to win.
