With the most recent Narrative previews, lore entries, and overall mistrust between the Vanguard and Drifter, I think it's safe to say Bungie has got me by the balls on my allegiances in terms of lore.
You got the Vanguard, the governing body of the city who have been more and more disorganized ever since Forsaken launched and have been investigating us for "potential murder of Cayde-6".
Then you got the Drifter, who's shadiness and overall untrustworthy demeanor has put him on my watchlist since he may be trying to frame us for Cayde's death.
At this rate, I don't know who to trust, what faction to root for, and why I should do them.
Side with Vanguard to protect the city and bring a (former) Dredgen to justice?
Or side with the Drifter against the Vanguard who question our actions and would eliminate us if we are guilty?
-blam!- man I don't know!
Whatever the general consensus is with this post, I'll choose my side for my Titan. The second option will be my hunter. As for my warlock, I dunno yet.

Honestly, this is a matter of your understanding. I sided with aunor because I've never liked the drifter. But i kept this in mind when choosing . Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. "Be careful who you threaten" -Drifter Strike: Warden of Nothing Drifter has his doubts on us. He's going to stab our back before we even considered the thought of doing the same.

Normally I would side with the Vanguard, but I had a thought. Down the line IF it is revealed that the drifer is actaully the bad you could get the option to pursue the darkness or try and reconcile for your mistakes. Maybe you could just double cross the Drifter, “stick it to the man” (the man being the Drifter) as one could say. I dunno maybe i’m overthinking it. Maybe the Drifter is just chaotic nuetral. Most people are picking Drifter because of the s i c k l o o t and d a r k n e s s anyways.

After grinding out a breakneck, I’m eager to do anything I can to inconvenience that Drifter

This is like the force, and I see a lot of you guys have fallen to the dark side.. remember the story of dredgen Yor. In the beginning it's about understanding the darkness, learning from it, but then it evolves into the power you hold and how no one can over power you. Don't trust the drifter.
-
I personally chose to side with the drifter given that the vanguard’s disarray could lead to its collapse - as hinted in the stolen intelligence lore books. I don’t agree wholly with the drifter or his methods, but if the vanguard were to collapse it offers a path for people to unite. The Vangaurd and the city are great, but they’re too close minded about survival.

Drifter refers to himself in the third person. I'm going vanguard.

Edited by Cyrax: 3/13/2019 3:10:54 AMThe only one that had our back since day 1 is ikora since then we have gone against vangaurd order and it has served us well so its time to make it official too leave the vangaurd and forge what will make us stronger.

1 ReplyEdited by SolarReaper: 3/12/2019 7:40:31 PMIf the Drifter turns out to be the bad guy... wouldnt that mean the end of Gambit as a game mode? Also, I wish Bungie would clarify if /what influence the choice has on rewards.

2 RepliesI'm undecided. In one hand, I'd much rather side with the vanguard for lore reasons and such; in the other hand, I'm a sucker for the corrupted guardian look. I guess it depends on what the rewards are.

7 Repliesdrifter sold the bullet to forsaken. he wanted Cayde dead. he is glad Cayde is dead. hes gotten other guardians killed. killed his "friends" when Ghaul closed off the light. Let Joxer's team mates die. you going to side with that?

Edited by LMAO iTs DEATH: 3/8/2019 8:16:20 PMWell, how do we know other characters wont change sides, Ikora is in conflict with her position, she used to be all for the traveler, but how is she gonna feel when she sees the traveler picked the man who killed her best friend to be a guardian. Plus uldren is technically the hunter Vanguard now, I'm not sure if that's how its gonna turn out, but if they go according to the Vanguard dare, well, hes the hunter Vanguard.

3 RepliesAs a Warlock main, the Drifter is the only real choice. It's obvious that the light alone is not strong enough to fight the Darkness. Heck, the light can barely keep from fighting and destroying itself. The only way forward is to understand the Darkness, learn what we can from it, and combine it with the light to gain the most from both worlds. My Warlock seeks to understand both sides, to serve humanity, not the Traveler. (#sighifonlydestinywasarealrpg)

I’m siding with the Vanguard. Ultimately I don’t think siding with the Drifter is going to help protect humanity which is kinda a guardians job. While I don’t agree with the Vanguard 100% I do not trust the Drifter we have seen before what trying to have both the light and the dark does. I think the Exo Strangers words were. It only a hint but also a warning: “A side must be chosen, little light. Even if it’s the wrong one.”. To me that says there is definitely a right and wrong choice and we can’t have it both ways. I still think the strangers words mean something after all Mara did bring her up. Also Mara’s final message to us “Bow to no one.” I wonder if that will have a meaning?

I believe in a balanced like Ul-Tan,
the closest seems to be the Shadows..
2 RepliesVanguard. They cleared up the investigating you part as making sure you can be trusted, Drifter had shown to be ok with guardians jut dropping dead and lightless in Gambit. He’s evik

5 RepliesNew narrative preview indicates that the Vanguard trust us. It’s only Aunor of the Praxoic order who doesn’t.
-
3 RepliesI liked Drifter before. Now that he has his spot in the Annex now though, the man has figured out a way to create Taken using pure will, just like that. I’m sure that’s not something to be concerned about. Plus, the voices in his head seem to be getting stronger.
-
Shouldn’t it be Praxic Order or Drifter? I thought the vanguard went along with Malphur’s scheme to weed out unstable guardians prone to surrendering them self to the darkness. Whether the Order or the Drifter have their own separate end games is another matter.
-
5 RepliesWish there was an Ikora only option. She seems to be the only sane person, and vouched for us when we needed her. And we can feel she genuinely is proud to have us as a friend. We've helped her so much. I feel a better bond to her. Only reason I'd choose vanguard over drifter.

My titan has an unwavering loyalty to the people of the city. Not as much the city itself. My warlock on the other hand, he looks for power to beat back the darkness. Sometimes not in the best of places
