Listen, I can kinda understand this theory before forsaken released as we hadn't known anything about this Drifter character prior to this DLC. Now would it have been cool to have Dredgen Yor back? I guess... I mean I wouldn't have exactly praised anyone at Bungie for bringing him back as a totally different character but at the same time I probably would have moved on.
But here's the thing... Now that Forsaken is out, and we've all read his lore cards... HOW IS THE THEORY STILL A THING AT THAT POINT!? Do you really think Shin would forget how the man who killed two of his father figures looked like? Did the fact that he owned a bar not set things off? Did his entire ice escaped not contradict everything about Yor's origin?!
I don't even know why I'm pretending to be angry? I guess I'm just trying to be more entertaining then I actually am, BUT MY POINT STILL STANDS!

Probably the same reason that, in D1, we allowed Rasputin to get to Mars... even though his entire complex is already on Mars... And ffs it's not even a hidden complex. Like, somehow the Cabal didn't see the gigantic pyramid of a 'secret complex' that is constantly shooting annoying satellites into space 24/7. Even though they had the planet so locked down so well you couldn't even transmat a sparrow safely... Not to mention 'Anna's search' for Rasputin is equally as ridiculous. Again, how hard could it possibly be to find? So easy that Zavala magically appeared inside Rasputin's Mind Room without the need for clearance, going through guards, or without any extraneous effort whatsoever. Meanwhile, in D1, if you got within 5000ft of a Rasputin Complex you were under threat from orbiting weapons of mass destruction that would be bring death and calamity without a second thought. But when it comes to his mind core? Nah fam, let's let absolutely everyone in. No problem. Totally what Rasputin would allow. He didn't like... just completely murder several dozen (up to a hundred?) Iron Lords just because he didn't think it was okay for them to get close to SIVA. Going even so far as to activate SIVA and consuming the remaining Iron Lords that made it to the complex. (Which means, clearly, Rasputin has no problems using an unstoppable force for his whims and demands.) Ugh. I liked the D1 Rasputin better.
