If We're Going To Have Random Weapon Rolls, Stop With The Fixed Elemental Damage Already.!!

  • Thanks for the feedback, I'll pass this along! Quick note - we're actually updating Year 2 Armor in Update 2.2.0 to feature random rolls on the stat package. So, what was once locked to a Mobile stat package can now roll with a Heavy, Restorative or Mobile stat package.

    • I already miss my void, arc, and solar Ex- Machina. That sniper was actually the strongest sniper in D1 with a damage number 48 while other high impacts did 47.

    • And what ever happened to where kinetic weapons had a chance to drop in energy slot. I remember seeing the video where you had an option to get better devils to drop in the energy slot. They just scrap that a week before that patch dropped?

      • Just like exotic elemental primaries in age of triumph, it would be interesting bringing in exotic tier mods like that, among others. Wishful thinking

      • BRING BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- “Luck in the Chamber” C’mon lets bring back some of the cool things from D1 that made Destiny fun. IMO heavily focusing on bringing back the weakest D2 perks is antithesis to exciting and fun.

        • Who cares burn is very minimally impactful. If you run a NF with anything but a thunder lord or 1k you’re wasting your time.

          • Yeah. I believe the reason they did this in the first place was because they were afraid of the dps potential of things like tractor cannon + ikelos sg. Then months later they buff nova bomb, so that's basically become the go-to for melting gambit bosses.

            • I always thought they should of expended on the element mods from year one. Kinetic just seems like a punishment the way the current system is set up. Make all damage types a choice of pros and cons, instead of just pick what is going to break shields. Give fire a small dot, arc can do minor stuns, void can slow, and kinetic does increased damage and staggers. Then give enemies strengths and weaknesses based on each element. Hive can be weak to kinetic, since it smashes their bone like armor, but take reduced damage to void. Cabal are strong to kinetic, but weak to arc since it shorts their armor.

              • Originally they allowed for elements to be swapped via mod, however the mod change didnt match well and they removed it. Not that big of a deal really. Gives weight to certain weapons aside from their perk rolls.

              • While I agree that Elements should be selectable Bungie apparently can not do this due to the way they originally constructed the weapons data structure for fixed rolled weapons and variable elements. When they decided to make the switch to variable mods they had to modify the data structure, yet keep it compatible with the rest of the game code. The only way they could do this was to make the element for each weapon fixed and then the mods could be variable. As one who does programming for a living I can understand how this can be a restriction. While I am not happy about it I understand why. This was all explained last year shortly before the new variable mod weapons were introduced, both in the TWAB’s and if I recall correctly on one of the Destiny podcasts (Crucible Radio??).

              • Another problem is the shallow perk pool. They need to invent more perks or it will forever just be, outlaw,feeding frenzy, kill clip,rampage,rangefinder

              • I made a post about keeping elemental mods. Fix certain weapons to certain elements SURE, but elemental mods were great all round.

              • It's fine as it is. Wouldn't want to get stuck with too much of the same element. They should make it re-rollable like they should several other things.

                • Removing the ability to change the element was one of the devs biggest let downs of this entire game. For me anyway.

                • Agreed. Elemental damage should be random. Going to a fixed type was ignorant, but we are talking about Bungie.

                  • Better yet, why don't we have the "choice" of elemental damage selection? Besides, it's my firm belief that the D1 way of having elemental primaries should have been left alone.

                    • Ya know, I actually LIKED being able to use elemental mods on weapons so I decided what elemental type the weapons were. So if I REALLY like a sniper for DPS or dealing with elemental shields, I could have 3 of the same gun but different elemental type.
