Destiny 2 special weapon diversity "The shotgun issue"

I first want to begin with saying that I do not and will not support a Nerf to shotguns. No amount of Nerf is going to make any other special look more appealing while keeping your Player base happy. It's time to accept that shotguns in D2 aren't an issue, the real issue is that nearly all other special weapon types are lack luster in nearly every way. I want it to be clear that this isn't in comparison to shotguns, but generally. GRENADE LAUNCHERS Special grenade launchers only briefly made a rise to decency, but unfortunately the sole perk that made it useable proximities, caught a heavy Nerf. The ability to one shot was taken away. Believe that players will die in this shotgun Meta with there only being ONE shot before reload. I truely believe to be competitive the Heavy Drum grenage launchers might need to become a special, and the current 1 shot boom tube special needs an archetype damage buff. They need that on shot secured, maybe cut reload to balence. Anarchy could probably stay a heavy, but please buff it. The weapon makes me cry because it's so unique and cool, yet so garbage for damage. I don't wanna hear about how people think it's good with a shotgun. It needs to be good on it's own SNIPERS Snipers especially for console have REDICULOUS amounts of recoil, and the short zoom scope seems to be at least a x12. Why do I need a scope that zooms that far period when the shotty aggressor is 10 meters in front of me? I'd personally really just enjoy incorporating an ACOG variant scope just a fair x2 - x4 zoom FUSIONS Fusions are actually okay. I'd say they get less credit than they deserve, but the only few that provide success are reliant on very specific rolls and archetypes. If you don't have Liquid coils, or BackUpPlan/ Rangefinder on say a Precision or High-Impact Frame. Then be prepared to look like a joke tbh. If I were to make the suggestion I'd say add base range, or cut charge time. I'd accept either, also consider adding a damage buff the both Adaptive and Rapid-Fire Frame fusions. They need it. TRACE RIFLES Also actually pretty good, but as a special it feels a little.. D2 year one? Best porforms in a team shot squad to trigger the enemy team Laser Tag PTSD. Maybe add a small damage buff on Crit? IDEA FOR CHANGE I've presented this a few times on this forum. Some people dislike the idea, and I understand why. BOWS I'm not a huge fan of bows as a primary, especially the team shot 2 tap. It's honestly more effective than Fighting lion. I feel for special weapons if it were incorporated to that class of weapon would open up a range of loadout options. Make it a 1 shot to the head. Of course being that it'd then be a Special Weapon make it only have 2 arrows on spawn in PVP That's all I got. Please stop trying to nerf things that aren't an issue.

      I hardly ran Shotguns back in D1, but I did run Snipers and Fusion Rifles. In D2, it's quite the opposite. Most things that I found useful and viable in D1 are lackluster in D2.

      • ...or if they adjusted how the ammo economy worked in the Crucible, then they could solve the problem at the source. Remove special ammo drops on death, add multiple respawning ammo cases around the maps for players to pick-up for a few shots. This limits special weapon usage to reasonable limits by promoting attentive use of said weapons, it can promote a desire to use other existing close-range weapons (SMG, sidearm) in order to make up for a reduced shotgun use frequency, it can benefit sniper rifles by allowing special ammo to no longer be an unreasonable risk to regain.

        • The problem is obvious. The result is 300k players a day on three platforms worldwide. The solution: hold your breath maybe it will change one day.

        • I mostly agree but not about snipers/bows. Im open to bows killing with crits as special weapons but only if aim assist/hitbox is drastically decreased because its way too easy to hit crits (at any range). Regarding snipers, i feel they all need ALOT less flinch + slight stability/handling buffs on aggressive archtype and less zoom on aggressive archtype sights. Also, box breathing should get buffed to allow 1 crit kills on supers with rapid fire snipers. Anything more than that would be too much. Also, remove full choke/full auto from all shotguns and slightly nerf rapid fire shotgun range.

        • Mostly agree except... Trace rifles need more ammo on spawn Sidearms should use special ammo like D1 and do more damage in return Bows are fine where they are. They work extremely well paired with a handcannon. They should never OHK without damage buffs. They are way too easy to get headshots. Letting bows OHK would make Snipers irrevelant.
