Lunas Howl Quest change ideas???
Now that I've got your attention.
We all know the Luna's is the single, most dominating primary weapon in the crucible atm. Alot of folks have been calling for nerfs, alot have been calling for removal of the weapon (I'm in that camp) some have even been calling for making the quest easier. And although I hate the idea of making the quest easier and having every last crucible match be a Luna's dust rock Wardcliff/colony match, if people feel fighting fire with fire is the only way then so be it.
My idea to change the Luna's Quest is as such: Accumulate a total of 5000 points in competitive. Losses do not hinder progress.
BENEFITS OF EASIER ALBEIT GRINDIER QUEST
This quest fixes a couple problems with comp.
1. People have something to grind for again.
2. No more "dead playlist"
3. No more quitting matches
4. The folks that have their Luna can still feel special because they have the comp rank associated with the original Luna's quest. (Edit: or they can be given 2 super cool ornaments for varieties sake )
5. The typical skill level of crucible players might go up "because spending a good amount of time in comp"
6. Luna's (possibly) doesn't get nerfed.
7. Every crucible match is the cancer meta for the rest of D2 life cycle
8. Crying posts about Luna's and comp significantly plummets.
Thoughts?
Quick Edit: No I don't have it. Yes I can get it but I don't like 180 spam cannons. I personally prefer 110 and 140s. This post isn't my personal feelings on the weapon, this post isn't some sort of -blam!- you to Luna's owners. The point of this post is to conjure some thoughts and ideas from these forums to find a happy medium between the folks who want an easier quest and the folks who already completed the quest. Im simply offering an idea that has some positives to it. (See benefits of easier albeit grindier quest)

Bring back Luck In the Chamber as a perk. Guarantee 180’s usage will die down. Bring back year 1 PS exclusive Hawkmoon. Add Box Breathing to more Scouts, Pulses and other HC archetypes. Or just change the perk to Bonus precision damage on a Triple Tap. Won’t affect great players. People will still get sh!t stomped and cry. The mediocre players that empty a whole mag for one kill will feel it. Do that, gather feedback. See if people still want the gun. Last Word is by far better if you are in range and can land shots. 4 body shots. Magnificent Howl needs 2 precision shots to proc. Try hitting those on a jumpy flippy Hunter.

Just sort the damn matchmaking out. Im bang average but the teams always feel unbalanced in skill - I should be playing other average people! And the last game I entered was a game of control, me on my own vs a full team...just what I need with precious days to go until reset. The gun does seem pretty damn OP but you can tell when someone has paid for it, and in their hands it isn't that terrifying.

Personally I feel this is bad. Removing loss from a Ranked playlist sort of defeats the purpose of that playlist. I think what they need to do is what I thought was going to happen: Each new season they introduce a new pinnacle weapon and the old pinnacle weapon gets a name change and a quest that is doable in Quickplay.

Add bonus points for performance and remove penalties from disconections (not rage quiting) from the game, then we can talk about competition. And even then with broken bungie servers there is too many factors to consider. I got luna, and i don't care if bungie decide to just give it away to everyone. Bad players won't magicaly become good because of it, and good players if they are really good, don't really need it to win gunfights, so what's you gonna lose? Your pride? Give unique ornaments and new emblems for glory points, and thats should be enough.

I doubt people would grind to 5000 even with no loss penalty. Cant win if you're losing and past a certain rank a full premade team is very necessary. Anyway though. I'm cool if the gun goes away. 180 rpm in general should take a hike and other archetypes need some recoil relief.

The "remove Luna" crowd is stupid. Crybabies are way too much. Everything in this game is easy. If you are on power in PvE you are pubstomping it. Literally 3 things in the entire game are difficult. Flawless raids (Like a Diamond and Petra's Run), Solo Shattered Throne and Competitive PvP. MAYBE a 4th with Niobe Labs. Don't take that away from the PvP crowd. I suck at PvP and have like a 1.0 KD. I have Luna after some serious grinding. Leave the gun alone. Go get it. In my opinion if you are physically incapable of acquiring Luna then you are getting -blam!-ed by it because you are bad not because the gun is busted.

I played a lot of crucible before Luna's howl, I just don't as much anymore. Wouldn't just blame it on Luna's though, most likely crucible in general.

I had a rough time but you can get there. 5000 seems a bit easy given if you are actually chasing it you could have moments where you could lose 300 glory on a bad streak. I know I did. I'd add a zero on to that 5000 and then maybe it would be viable.

I don't care how special you think you are for having a Luna's, youre a meta slave, -blam!- off.’ That’s pretty negative and toxic yourself and makes you sound bitter towards people that use the weapon. I am someone who thinks Luna was actually too easy to get and that’s why so many are around. People who cannot get them have turned them into excuses for the reason they lose to a player wielding them, when most likely (particularly a Not Forgotten) you are simply coming up against a better player. I did read the post and my reply was that they should stay as they are and that different powerful weapons should be made available through different activities so players who cannot obtain the powerful Luna through Comp can get a gun that is great elsewhere and Bungie did that with TLW and I think will continue to do that.

No need to remove it. I say add in more weapons that will offer viable counters to the weapon. I for one worked hard and put in the time to earn mine and I don't want it taken away from me.

While i don't think that the lh quest should be changed (people DID work really hard for it, and i think we all remember the backlash from the last time Bungie made a comp reward easier) i think this would be a great way to structure future comp pinnacle weapons. With luna like beginning steps (get X amount of elemental kills, X amount of X weapon kills) and end with having to get 5000 comp points like you described. That way it would still be a grind for the hardcore PvP players but be more available to the average crowd.

2 RepliesInsert obligatory "git gud" here. Haven't had much of an issue with it. See more Dust Rock Blues - ya know, from across the map. Also in crucible - I know it's hard to believe - but when my warlock lies down, I most often blame it on user error.
