Can some PvP top tier players help out a bit and give tips on this topic? I get rarely this type of games and can’t figure out if I’m doing something wrong. My playstyle is somewhat passive and I try to stick with team mates and peak+shoot catefully. Would it require to play more aggressively to get more kills i.e. should I try to learn engaging more aggressively?
I realize it could also be that I have hit my skill gap and can’t get where I want to be. I was under 0.5 efficiency player for a long time (rushing and dying, playing stupidly) and practised hard and a lot to get positive efficiency games and currently have no idea how to improve my crucible skills and get more kills.

I’m in no way a top tier player and don’t play PvP really any more but when I did I could pretty consistently get 20+ kills. I’m a pretty aggressive player so maybe try playing more aggressively. I’d definitely recommend you take advice from more experienced PvP players before you take mine.

Edited by Jinx: 2/25/2019 4:29:10 AMI am not a pro at pvp, but this tends to work for people... Let other people take the risks, you clean up the mess. Someone runs out and starts shooting, you stay back, finish them off. Also, remember, it is better to live on your knees than die on your feet, squat and slide everywhere because it makes you harder to detect on radar. If you're on console set your screen boundaries small, it puts the interface, and radar, in an area much closer to the cross hair so you don't have to move your eyes as much to keep sight on the radar. Bigger is not always better. If you're playing on a 65 inch tv, you'd think you'd be much better, in reality, you're probably going to perform much worse than someone sitting in front of a 24 to 27 inch monitor 24 inches from their face. Let the enemy come to you. There is no shame in camping as long as you land your shots when a target presents it's self. If you're over the age of 25 and aren't an efficient sniper, don't bother with sniper rifles except maybe to wound a target then clean it up with a sidearm or something. Learn the main avenues people like to exploit for movement, and work out ways to exploit that to their detriment. Learn to walk side to side while you're being shot at. It's a bs physic that proves they've set the time to kill too high but human beings are not good at tracking sideways moving targets and the problem is complicated by it being a videogame with bad controls. Not all weapons require every blow to be a head shot, some you will kill them take as many headshots to kill as they would if you landed one headshot and the rest bodies, know your weapon, know how many shots it takes to kill, if you don't need every shot to be a headshot, don't worry about making every shot a head shot. Not all weapons are best used ADS. Sidearms, some hand cannons, especially the last word, are all better used from the hip. Most of all..................... Don't get angry. One douchebag keeps shotgun aping you and teabagging you or something? Do not. Do. Not. Obsessively try to track them down. Worry about the kills you can get, fixating on one guy determined to be an asshole means you'll miss kills that were available to you because you became single mindedly focused on one person. If you're not playing to have fun, why are you playing? Don't get angry, get even by winning the match instead of trying to get revenge on the one who's being a jerk.

Knowing the lanes and the hot spots people like to go. There are apps you can download to help you with map callouts and layouts I suggest starting there. But I will say aggressive play typically gets results depending on what type of team you're playing and if you are solo or in a fireteam

Honestly just analyze your gameplay. Don’t think about guns or people abusing meta or whatever. Everytime you die, ask yourself why, and know why you are able to kill the enemy. Practice obviously is gonna be the most important here and there’s not one specific thing I can tell you that will make you a god. Private games have really helped me work on gun skill so if you have a buddy who’s in the same boat as you, just go -blam!- around in private games and do stupid shit like all sniper battles or something, you’ll have fun and get better.

3 RepliesEdited by LordShaxx: 2/25/2019 3:49:55 AMI dont think im top tier but i have a 2.2kd in quickplay and Not Forgotten. Push everything with shotgun, scavenger perks, stack super mods, high mobilty armor. You can get a few kills each game by securing the heavy ammo. Use verticality. If you are in the air when someone comes around a corner then you will have a massive advantage over them. Also pick a roaming super that has high kill potential like dawnblade, arcstaff, sentinel etc. And stick to it for a few days you wanna get comfortable with one subclass not play many of them at the same time. ^ These are the standard tips that will help the rest really comes down to playing the game a shit ton and getting better feeling for how to win engagements and improve your aim

Edited by Chains: 2/25/2019 4:13:24 AMDon’t stay with the team I usually flank or try and stay with 1 other, staying with the majority usually ends with being killed via a super. Use supers near the enemies spawn when you see several die in the feed. Slide a lot if you’re being aggressive it keeps you off radar. I average 35+ if I’m solo so I guess I’m doing something right
