I understand there needs to be variety in pve, but why nerf rapid fire shotguns? Nobody asked for this. Why nerf rapid fire shotguns that are powerful and buff other shotguns that probably won't even be used anyway? Stop nerfing strong things and buff things that aren't strong.

19 RepliesTHEY'RE NOT NERFED. Good lord do y'all read? I bet you 90% of you read rapid fire speed reduction down and didn't read the rest. READ THE REST YOU JACKELOPES.

13 Replies2x damage in PvE 70% max fire rate 2 x .7 = 1.4 This is a 140% buff to DPS, improves ammo efficiency, reduces the frequency of reloads, and buffs trench barrel (still 3 shots - double damage of each shot). This is not a nerf. If anything they buffed SGs too much.

4 RepliesEdited by Lord Araphel: 2/23/2019 6:03:03 PMShotguns In Season of the Drifter, we’re making a few changes to rapid-fire Shotguns, and the Full Auto perk. We're doing this for a few reasons, one of them being that the Full Auto perk feels far too important to Shotguns in PvE. This perk effectively doubles the damage output of any given Shotgun due to the rate of fire increase. While we believe it is important to have useful perks on your weapons, the efficacy of this was so impactful that rapid-fire Shotguns became the only Shotguns worth considering for PvE. When the following changes release in Season of the Drifter, we hope you might be inspired to equip an aggressive Shotgun or maybe even take a slug Shotgun for a spin in a PvE activity. Shotguns will receive a damage multiplier in PvE activities, effectively doubling their damage. The Legend of Acrius is an exception to this. Full Auto rate-of-fire bonus for Shotguns is now +10%, down from +100%. In addition, it no longer increases the Shotgun pellet spread. Default rate-of-fire values for have also shifted: Aggressives are 55 RPM, up from 45 RPM Precisions are 70 RPM, up from 55 RPM Lightweights are 80 RPM (they were erroneously stated to be 90 RPM previously) Rapid-Fire 140 RPM, down from 200 RPM (they were previously natively 100 RPM, but due to the intrinsic full auto, actually had 200 RPM) Also reduced base damage for Shotguns across the board to align with their new rates of fire on a per sub-archetype basis. Ammo reserves for Shotguns were re-evaluated due to the increased efficiency of having more damage per shot. We also took the opportunity to slightly adjust Shotguns for the Crucible. While Shotguns will remain effective in the Crucible, we have toned down the range at which Shotguns could secure a one-shot kill. Show me a single nerf. This is exactly the shotgun portion of twab.Shotguns got a massive pve buff and was toned down in pvp because they got fire rate buff for all the others and rapid frames were just balanced.Community can't even tell the difference between a balance and a nerf.Shotguns right now are very strong and shut down any gun minus fusions.

Edited by FL00FING AB0UT: 2/22/2019 7:17:45 PMThey could’ve made other shotguns better without changing rapid fires. They could’ve buffed fusion rifles. They could’ve done anything but make them worse, but that’s continually what is chosen to be done about things. Don’t make other things more competitive, make “go-to’s” less competitive. I’m getting really sick of it. I’m really getting sick of them “correcting” how we play. We chose the most effective items. Sorry. Make others better so they can contend instead, huh? (Strictly speaking about shotguns)

Stop nerfing strong things and buff things that aren't strong.
They didn’t nerf full autos. They brought everything else forward, then buffed ALL of them. The rate of fire went down less than half (for full autos, everything else went up) but the damage doubled, resulting in a buff for all shotguns, aside from the range in PvP

1 ReplyThey got buffed you jackass.

There does not need to be variety. Whatever’s the best rolled weapon you have with what you use. It’s a game not life. People are going to use the best weapon in that class. It has always been that way in every single game ever. They are going to nerf something and then everyone’s going to start using a different weapon because that’s now the best in class. Then they nerf that and so on. Bungie is flat out stupid with all their nerfs.

Edited by BIRB: 2/24/2019 2:39:59 PMI didn’t quite understand this either. They realized normal shotguns were a bit lackluster so they nerfed the one shotgun type that’s viable? Doesn’t make sense to me at all. I believe they should leave full auto shotguns alone, and buff normal shotguns. To me, this just seems like a pointless nerf in a poor attempt in “balancing” something. While you’re at it, why not buff sidearms and fusion rifles? Who in the right mind would ever use a side arm in PVE? (And PVP for that matter). Why not buff the weapons that literally nobody would use because of how underpowered they are?
to be completely fair though, it’s not just a flat nerf. They are bugging the damage of shotguns quite a bit so one can argue it was a buff.
Gambit probably

If you can't play pve without a full auto shotgun, that's why they nerfed full auto shotguns

bad move, now every1 will b rokin Chaperone, get ready 2get mapped

5 RepliesOh, maybe because their used to melt just about every boss in the game?
I love my Ikelos and Threat Level as much as the next but if you think this nerf was unwarranted you’re delusional.
More damage per shot with less rate of fire

9 RepliesPVP needs to be removed from the game

3 RepliesEdited by Lord_Shar: 2/22/2019 7:11:33 PMI stopped using Ikelos SG and Threat Level after getting Loaded Question and Jotunn -- the latter two had fewer ammo issues during raids and other crowded fights while delivering more overall killing power. As a result, the rapid fire shotgun nerf news came as a big surprise since there are now better weapon options available.

5 RepliesI think it’s ironic that the PvE players that always scream nerf to crucible weapons because they arent good with the meta are so upset now. This is what it feels like welcome to the party... and to say no one asked for it doesn’t even make since, shuro chi was gonna stop by the forums to voice her concern but she’s just a little bit too scared to come out after all those times she got melted with ikelos.
-
1 ReplyThey've done it because they melt the gambit boss too quickly and with the next season focusing on gambit, it had to be done.

8 RepliesEVERYONE ASKED FOR A SHOTGUN NERF. Saying no one asked for it is plain and simply a lie.

Why not?
-
Because we don’t want Bullet sponges and we don’t want Power creep... PvE is still laughably easy...

3 RepliesBecause they are too good?

Because-that only they in pve and were used.

Damage buff though is no joke

because all skillless fags use it in pvp, thats why
