The only game I play.

Dear Bungie. Just a quick note to let you know that regardless of what’s currently happening with the game - trials hiatus, RNG for titles, faction rally vacation, Nova Warp nerf, etc - I still log in and play almost daily. The richness of the worlds, the feel of the gunplay, the lore - its an all-encompassing escape that for me is irresistible. Friends have asked me if I’ve tried Apex Legends or Anthem or the latest game de jour, to which I reply, “There’s only space in my life for one game.” I guess you could say I’m very monogamous in my gaming. That’s the truth. I have a full-time career, spouse, kids, home, aging parents, etc. I simply don’t have the bandwidth to deep-dive another IP. When Destiny has run it’s course, I’ll likely step back from video games altogether and return to other hobbies. Since 2016, Destiny has been my hobby. So, I’m in this for the long haul. I know your task of trying to appeal to such a broad and passionate array of players is herculean, if not impossible. I don’t envy it. You always hold your cards close to your vest but you always manage to have a hand worth playing. I’m looking forward to seeing what tricks you have in store for us the rest of the year. My ante is in the pot. Let’s keep going - deal the cards. I’m game for another round. Win or lose, it’s still a fun game.

  • I disagree completely. Ignoring the outcry on this forum 24/7, I can't even bring myself to play destiny anymore. I've done to many things to many times, and its made me sock to the point where I get a minor headache when I see the disc case. I don't know how you can play this one game, and only this one game over and over, day by day and not be completely insane. I've loved this franchise since it came out in 2014, but the levels of grind, and dedication keep ranging from warframe too WoW, it just fluxuates to often and it hurts my brain. I'll probably start playing again when the next part of the pass comes out, but if it brings more mindless unsustainable grind and slams it in my facehole, i'll have to take another hiadus. I'll never deny my hidden love for Destiny, but I've been playing many other games that give me far more satisfaction than a days worth of grind in Destiny. Since I've stopped playing Destiny, I've played and had shitloads of fun with many other games. Games that may not be toatally comparable to Destiny, but there games that give me variety, games that give me satisfaction, and games that give me the fun, that I can't seem to get out of Destiny anymore. The pvp is dogpoop garbage, and never won't be because it just dosent mesh properly, the pvp has gotten stale after the same A.I since D1, and absolutely minimal reward for maximum effort, and I know you've defiantly experienced the worst of that one, since you say your a married man with a job and family, when you grind some bullshit for 4-6 hours and take a dump down your throat courtesy of Bungie. I've experienced that too much, so I can't play this crap anymore, until the game fully redefines itself. TL;DR: I disagree, because the game has gotten to repetitive too fast, and if I were you, and only played one game for years, I'd cut my hands off from insanity.

I have a co worker, who’s son recently played Destiny 2 for the first time (last week) he fell in love with it, and begged his father to get it. And as my co worker is telling me this story, all I could think was how jealous I was that this kid will probably never see the issues that most of us have, he’ll play the game, get to the expansions, and by the time the cracks start to show, Destiny 3 will be here.. I guess at the end of the day, the part that pisses me off the most about the $h!t show that is Destiny 2 is how much I miss hanging with the very real friends I have made because of this franchise, people that I have now known for YEARS. Sure we still talk, but there’s no more Raid night, no more IB shenanigans, no more anything really. THAT’s the part that sucks.

    • Too many people let these toxic forums affect them. There is a lot of this starting on the Fortnite communities. But I agree with you. This is a good game. Worth the attention and grind.

I feel you dude, as of right now, God Eater 3 has been grabbing my attention until Joker's Wild, and it'll be a game I play on the side. Destiny's my main game but when things get slow it's usually best to do something else as a refresher. Fall is gonna be a busy gaming season for me, not only will it be Year 3 or another annual pass from the leak supposedly, but also the Iceborne expac for Monster Hunter World will drop. Apex does look pretty fun, but the battle royale genre isn't my cup of tea. Been always an RPG person.

      • Mate thats awesome. Literally exactly how I feel. Even with no trials and no cool raid armor glow ornaments etc the lore and gunplay and whole experience is awesome. Only game I really play and my hobby. You are not the only one in it for the long haul 👍🏻

        • I love how scrubs come on the forums to cheer themselves up with delusional posts, praying on other scrubs to join their rhetoric and elude the truth. Destiny 3 is the only shooter offering a bathing room for mono cellular organisms. I’m glad you like the stroke lights and explosion of colors. I’m glad you like point and click activities or one melee-ing everyone on the map. I’m also very happy you find replay ability cyclotomically playing the same milestones and double loading screens 52 weeks a year. But you can’t use your inexperience and very poor knowledge of the gaming world to place the only scrub game you play atop. You could have just said, I like destiny how it is. However keep this wall of scrubbiness away.

          • feel the same but in reality no other games out there interest me, so it's easy to stay. This will rank up there with games I've literally played the life out of like Skyrim, Dynasty Warrior series, Gears of War, Mass Effect, Jak n Daxter an so on.

          • I was in the same boat. But dude look into Apex. Its fast paced, familiar mechanics, easy looting system with characters that actually play roles in the game. I'm barely clinging onto destiny anymore. Always getting screwed over in PVP and you can only play the same missions so many times trying to get loot that wont drop before you get onto a forum and tell bungie that your almost done. None of my friends play destiny anymore but they play apex. I tried it out and dude it's so refreshing. Even if we dont win it's still a good time. I'll check out jokers wild, but if it's the same old shit with crap loot drops and useless vendors then, I wont come back. And I've played since Vanilla D1. I love this game and the universe but if it's not going anywhere, why stay.

              • Yeah... As if I would ever limit myself to a single game when there are good games constantly being released. That doesn't mean I stop playing Destiny for good. You can enjoy other games without giving up on Destiny you know?

I agree. I squeeze this game in between raising kids and a demanding job and I still get excited about the DLCs and exotic quests. I like reading troll posts and imagining how sad their real lives are. This is just a game but a great game IMHO

                      • I feel better not playing Destiny 2 than I ever had playing it. So many new games I've gotten so many that are just so much better and better cared for. I look forward to the next new game I get as another layer of dust gathers upon the corpse of my copy of Destiny 2. Poor thing I didn't even get to throw it a funeral.

                        • I've given my fair share of negative criticism towards this game and Bungie, but overall the game isn't bad. Not what I wanted for a sequel to Destiny, but not a fundamentally bad game. I've probably said it is in the past, but in general it is pretty good. I personally find too many reasons to say the game isn't fun enough for me to continue to play it as much as I would have liked to, and currently I am playing through Destiny 1 with a Warlock for pretty much the first time and I'm having a lot of fun. I fully plan to return to Destiny 2 and do the same thing. Also, I was like you with Resistance 2. I played nothing but that game, and I really liked it. Coop was 8 man strikes with three classes that worked together, and PvP was the most fun PvP experience I have ever had. Core Control was fun, and custom games could last for days as everyone just -blam!-ed around and had fun (you could back out and it'd still be there having many player changes along the way). 30v30/20v20/10v10/5v5 on medium to large maps with no real balance issues, and that game had weapons with shields that could see and shoot through walls. Some had issues with the Wraith, but most weapons could counter it, people were just bad and complained.

                          • Missing out on so many great games and experiences... Playing other games will help you understand the faults in Destiny and you might actually then understand the feedback people are giving is because we do care about this IP and we want it to be better... But Bungie are doing what they always do and getting in their own way... they have become lazy and are just doing the bare minimum.
