What is considered nooby for normal slayer:
1. Shields
2. Grenade Spamming
3. Radar
4. Power Weapon Advantage
Now SWAT is the ultimate test of skill, because it focuses on:
1. Reflexes
2. Accuracy (Headshots)
3. Communication (If you're in party chat or game chat with friends)
4. Upmost Equality (Same weapons, no shields)
All you get in slayer are people charging into each other, attempting to get that pummel kill.
That's not strategy.
Or people in quick fight, running away and spamming their grenades at each other, hoping it does the work for them.
That's pretty cowardly.
I've been playing for a while to see the major difference. SWAT keeps you on the edge of your seat. It greatly enhances your accuracy, and allows you to feel for your surroundings. And I don't have to YAWN when I'm shooting someone, due to the ridiculous shielding in normal slayer.
Now some will agree. Other will flame me, and say I'm a COD fanboy. If i was a fanboy, I wouldn't be playing Halo Reach.

I don't like SWAT at all if I'm honest. It just kinda feels like a poor mans Modern Warfare to me and it isn't the Halo gameplay i've come to know and love...

Feck skill, just enjoy the damn game.
Posted by: Demon Heart85 http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Team_SWAT Team SWAT is a Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo: Reach Matchmaking gametype. As of May 2008, Team SWAT is a ranked playlist in Halo 3, after being featured in two Double EXP Weekend playlists. The player has no shields, no motion tracker, and spawns with a weapon that is well suited for obtaining headshots. Common starting weapons are the Battle Rifle, Covenant Carbine, and the M6C Magnum handgun. In Halo 3 matchmaking, Team SWAT features either Battle Rifles and Magnums, or just Magnums or Shotguns. Mongoose ATVs can be found on maps such as Snowbound and Isolation. Inexperienced players should avoid this playlist as it can be particularly frustrating if they are not used to fast-paced gameplay. On October 7th, 2010, Team SWAT will become an official playlist in Halo: Reach multiplayer.[1] The lack of shields can significantly increase the speed of the game due to almost instantaneous kills, though there is often a tendency for people to be more cautious due to this vulnerability. Head shots are crucial, as they will take down one, or in some cases with the Battle Rifle, two or three opponents with a single burst. Inexperienced Players should avoid SWAT? hmm, how interesting.
And a publicly editable wiki became the unquestioned expert on what skill is when?

New players get stomped on even harder when they encounter vets playing regular slayer.
Posted by: bonezz1001 lol. Only CoD kids favorite swat over true slayer. The results in swat are always determined by luck, and whether or not your team has host connection. Hey look, I was right. Out of your top 5 games 3 of them are CoD games. Go back to your little FAMAS of Warfare 2. "Modern Warfare® 2 Rugged Savior Last Played Online: 9/30/2010"
Tbh your an idiot just because he does not only play Halo related games does not make him a fan boy. However i agree with you on the host advantage on SWAT. I also find SWAT mind numbingly dull and would rather have my 5 shot DMR and moi rocketlaunchairzzz.

Which is more skillful? Scoring a gun Overkill in Team Slayer or scoring a gun Overkill in SWAT? The answer to that question also happens to be the gametype that requires more skill; imagine that.

Anything else that is not a guaranteed outcome is based on probability which is known to many as luck. Please, don't call people scrubs. It's ironic beyond a reasonable doubt.
-
Inhimilis SWAT strategy: Sit in a corner hoping to get lucky and assassinate an unsuspecting by passer.
-
swat is easy and mindless, players that think they are good in swat are usually the same players who are awful at regular slayer. If you are good you can do well in both types of gametypes.

I forgot to mention this. but i enjoy playing swat..just not on hemoredge because fireing across the map is sheer luck because there is a small amount of bloom from the very first shot. [Edited on 10.01.2010 1:48 AM PDT]
Posted by: Demon Heart85
Posted by: PeeEngine Hey, its Rugged Savior, the token annoying idiot from the Infinity Ward forums; fancy meeting you here.
Annoying because I am a generous person lol. People who say I'm annoying, but play a few matches with me, will take it back. I'm actually that cool of a player.
No, you are just genuinely annoying. Though, considering you are told that multiple times in every single thread you post in on the IW forums, I'm amazed it hasn't sunken in yet. SWAT is like a paycheck without the work. Headshots are by far the easiest action to accomplish in this game (eg: Gruntpocalypse). The only reason people play SWAT, is because it is easier than regular Slayer and you can potentially get more credits.
Posted by: jn yan san Instead of typing random BS I'll actually retort your claim with a few meaningful arguements. 1. If you can't handle the way the game is made without any preset conditons that can be considered "n00bish" 2. It takes skill to learn how to use the pistol and DMR, however there is an unavoidable randomness to both weapons even if it's the very first shot. Rockets, Energy swords, shotguns,Focus rifle, plasma launcher and more do not have this. On the same note it takes more skill how to use a variety of weapons. 3. Things like communication are important to all team game types and not just team swat so we cant really count that, also reflexes are something you need to be at most video games in general so we cant include that as something swat focuses on. 4.Shields are gone in other game types like infection, the zombies have no shields and since the energy sword in OHK shields mean nothing unless your the last man standing and even then your bound to die very soon. So does that make it more of a pro gametype as head shots are also a OHK in it? and 5. People still try for the beat down in swat, especialy if its a closed map like countdown or parts of boardwalk. Now if beatdown did no damage at all then I would agree on this point.
I'm not even going to put numbers on this one because I agree with everything stated.
