So IDK what it means in the grand scheme of things but I just noticed the following:
Game Title / Current Viewership Numbers:
APEX / 241K
League Of Legends / 241K
CounterStrike / 218K
Fortnite / 130K
Anthem / 115K
Metro Exodus / 99.5K
Rainbow Six Siege / 99.5K
Destiny 2 Forsaken / 4K
Wow, I honestly have heard numbers cited in the past but if this isn't damning, IDK what is.
Thoughts?

5 RepliesI still don't understand why people sit there watching someone else play a game for hours. It'd drive me mad. I prefer to play the game myself instead, but each to their own I guess

Edited by MC_3_TTV: 2/17/2019 9:29:16 PMthere's nothing to watch. Nobody wants to watch PvE, therefore PvP is the only thing people would come back to watch but the meta is so stale and bungie has done almost everything in their power to remove the skill gap that those other popular games have. There's also the lack of "hero moments" that D2 has had since launch. Nothing in D2 can even come close to the hype of a good player clutching a 1vX situation in a battle royale (3v3 elimination did in D1 but we can't have that back for some reason)

11 RepliesEdited by Milk: 2/15/2019 6:47:40 PMLet's take a look at the games you listed and see if we can't dig a bit deeper:
APEX / 241K
Is a free to play battle royale shooter. If Fortnite has proven anything it's that people will play any half way decent game if it's free.
League Of Legends / 241K
One of the most popular games in the world, it's no doubt that this game was going to be huge, also it's fun to watch.
CounterStrike / 218K
Same deal, it's an insanely popular competitive game.
Fortnite / 130K
Wasn't this the most popular game in the world last year?
Anthem / 115K
New game that's been hyped into infinity. A lot of the casual playerbase of Destiny went here. Let's see how it's doing in 6 months.
Metro Exodus / 99.5K
A brand new game. Literally hot off the presses. Still has that new game smell.
Rainbow Six Siege / 99.5K
A popular tactical shooter, along the same lines as CSGO.
Destiny 2 Forsaken / 4K
Destiny 2 is one of the older titles on this list and it's in the middle of a content lull. Add on to the fact that people are streaming newer games, and the fact that a lot of people are still burned from the initial release and it's pretty much expected that this would happen.
Thoughts?
Destiny isn't the hot thing right now, and streamers draw in more people by playing the new thing. People like Destiny, it's just more profitable to stream the new hotness. I could be the biggest Destiny Stan on the face of the earth, but if my livelihood depends on streaming I'm taking the path of least resistance and playing what's popular. Will Destiny ever be as huge as Fortnite? Probably not, but whatever. It seems like people want Destiny to fail at this point.

I’m not going anywhere until I catch that carrot. But my t-Rex arms can’t quite reach it. I’m pretty frustrated with this game but I already bought the annual pass and I invested so much time...I’m not a fan of bungie anymore like I was coming in. I just don’t want to give up hope.
-
I seen destiny 2 down to 1600 the other day.
-
All of those games are either titans on twitch, or have some BIG event going on R6 has a championship thing going on or something for example
-
12 RepliesIt's an improvement. When I checked yesterday it was 3500 viewers. How bout all the "destiny 2 summit" streamers, streaming anthem and apex legends? How's that for loyalty, huh bungie?
-
Edited by A_mo: 2/16/2019 4:17:47 PMI don't watch Twitch and there are reasons that those other games are getting so many viewers like other people posted but the fact that Destiny is at 4,000 or lower can't be good. There should be more people than that who want to watch the game regardless of how old it is or what else is out. At this point its just become cool to hate on Destiny and I don't really know what they could possibly do to make it anywhere near as big as those other games you listed whether in Twitch views or daily player count.

My plan is to play Metro Exodus until Anthem releases, then play Anthem until The Division 2 releases. Nowhere is Destiny 2 in my playlist. I'm sure I'll boot it up to check on the next expansion, but this game is tired. The game needs something undestiny to spice it up. Gambit wasnt all that exciting because it still used all the same Destiny tropes.

18 RepliesEdited by Tilman G: 2/16/2019 8:35:15 PMMy predictions(I’m not a fortune teller by any means) Apex will die down just like over watch did. Anthem will put up a fight but slowly die(or fall face first) Fortn*** will eventually be replaced by something else When jokers wild and penumbra come out people will slowly migrate back to destiny when they realize that there is a lot more endgame now. Destiny 3(or whatever is after penumbra) will probably pull in lots of new and old players, and hopefully keep them in. Either way I think destiny will continue along. Edit: I posted this in a positive tone(of text) why is everyone being so negative to me? I didn’t dis any of you, just said my opinion on the future of a couple games, I even used other games as references to backup my claims. Edit: I heard somewhere that joker’s wild and penumbra have more content story wise. If I am wrong about that sorry, but that is part of my reasoning.

4 RepliesId dont use twitch as a metric for measuring success. $$$ is a metric for sucess.
-
Destiny 2 is a trash ass game the numbers prove it
-
It’s not that big of a deal, it’s just that D2 doesn’t really have a lot of content going on right now. Trust me, it’ll go back up when Season if the Drifter starts. Maybe not skyrocket but definitely get some more attention.
-
Nothing going on. It’ll boot up again on 5th of March. As much as I hate Trials...that announcement may have dampened that number imo.
-
7 RepliesIt'l be worse next Friday when another huge chunk of people get to play Anthem .
-
It’s always been around that unless the new Raif is out or new content. D2 has nothing that would make you want to watch it
-
1 ReplyEdited by Darth Lunchbox: 2/15/2019 7:03:25 PMMeans people are dumb enough to watch other people play a game they own and can play themselves and to top it all off, they pay the people they watch...

None of those games can be compared to Destiny; the only thing you can do to gauge engagement is compare past Destiny numbers, to current Destiny numbers. Spoiler: engagement is very, very low.
-
Nothing new to watch on Destiny , most of the original player base is 650 already and solved all the secrets. New content will bring back some numbers. I'd rather play the game than watch it (unless it's a reveal of some kind).
-
It doesn't really mean anything, TBH.
-
It’s easy, other than anthem all of those games are pvp based games. Nobody cares what you can do in pve. Pvp is the exciting part.
-
Doesn’t surprise me at all. Bungie did it to themselves.
-
Edited by CannyJack: 2/16/2019 3:03:45 AM5 PvP games and two brand new games vs a PvE-primary, old game in a content drought. Not exactly surprising that D2 has 2% of the viewership of, say, Apex Legends. There’s nothing new to see.
-
Activision got shot of Destiny at the right time.

3 Replies1. Who gives a shit? 2. Wtf is there to even be streaming on Destiny? Some. Neckbeard running strikes for the millionth time? 3. You're comparing it to games like fortnite, counter strike, rainbow siege, and league, anomalies in the competitive gaming industry. Which always generates tons of viewers because of the competition. 4. And you compare it to games like Apex, Anthem, and metro exodus. Games that just came out. Ffs dude. Not trying to be a fanboy, and frankly I'm sick of destiny too. But your post is just moronic
