As most do, let me preface this by saying I'm a beta D1 player, been there, done that etc. I stopped playing D1 the day I found out about D2 being a new game rather than a continuation and didn't return until Forsaken. Having not played any of the vanilla game, COO or Warmind, I had a lot to catch up on and my initial month or two back in the game were a lot of fun.
However, I'm leaving again, mainly to keep my sanity. Bungie, if you wish for this franchise to survive, these forums have a treasure trove of insights for you to trawl and I won't repeat everything you need to do in order to maintain interest.
But for me, as a LOOTER SHOOTER with RPG aspirations, my main issue is the INSANE RNG aspects of gear drops. For example:
- 40-45 riven kills - no One Thousand Voices
- 15-18 shattered throne clears (can't remember how many, but quite a lot) - no ship
- god knows how many gambit games - no ship
After a point, player's pursuits go from excitement, to frustration, to apathy. Look at games like Diablo 3 - loot drops are still RNG, but the percentages aren't anywhere near as bad. But we keep going back to that as drops get different roles so you keep trying to get perfect stats.
Anyway, I'm not expecting any kind of response and by this stage, I'm sure you've heard this feedback already, but just wanted to add from my perspective, why I'm going to be moving on. I may be back for Destiny 3 if you can make some radical improvements to the game.
EDIT: if Bungie do reply to this it would be amazing to have a response which isn’t just ‘we will pass feedback on’. I’d genuinely like the RNG algorithm explained a bit, because it really does feel broken
EDIT2: I know this is the internet, and trolls be trolling, but please refrain from the classic ‘stop whining posts’ as it just makes you look a bit silly. Legitimate criticism is fine but 10 year old level trolls are just lame.
EDIT3: it saddens and amazes me how many trolls there are on this forum! I know they’re either little kids or just sad pathetic losers who I will just ignore from here on, but it frankly baffles me why people reply to comments they think they’ve read, but haven’t, or just absolutely trying to wind up. Very sad these losers exist and have a platform to speak on the internet.

- god knows how many gambit games - no ship
Not sure if you know this or not, but this only a random drop from defeating the servitor primeval. The best chance for it appearing is on a full curse week which occurs every three weeks. The next starts at daily reset on Feb 19 (tomorrow) and ends Feb 26 at reset.

1 ReplyI mean, what's the alternative? People get stuff first time then they never play that activity again. They can't do right for doing wrong.
-
Thought I’d do Shattered Throne last night again after not playing last week, simply to try and get the ship. Only did it once but no ship. The other two people I played with were also only playing for the ship. This kind of tells you how broken this is where people are running an activity for a chance of a cosmetic item needed for a title. Bungie - still no word on this again apart from ‘passing our feedback on’???

2 RepliesBUNGIE is committed to giving streamers (who should get real jobs) and tryhard no-life gamers a place where they can grind their lives away. Hence, RNG is here to stay (at least until BUNGIE goes out of business).

However, I'm leaving again, mainly to keep my sanity.
If you're still playing after making this post, does that mean you've lost your mind?

5 RepliesEdited by CarlosFDC: 2/16/2019 3:52:29 PMI'm curious to know what do you think about another shooter looter like Warframe.

4 RepliesRNG is there to extend the game time due to lack of meaningful content. It’ll never change.

18 RepliesI'm still stuck on 39/40 sleeper nodes I have opened closed to 4500 nodes it's bad for me as a completionist

21 RepliesJust wait 8 days for anthem

1 ReplyI agree the RNG element is too strong with no protection for the player. Especially when it comes to RNG for Titles and Lore...
-
2 RepliesCrucible & Gambit matchmaking has done it for me. I’m just sick of the nonsense. Lopsided games galore and if you win one match you better believe they’re breaking up those teams to screw you over.

3 RepliesNo u. Wait, that’s not right. Ur mum? No. That’s not the right one either. Git gud? No, not really. Hmmm. Oh! Nerf Nova Warp!Wait, they already did. How about....you know what, I give up.

1 ReplyFeel ya. RNG made me stop bothering with achievements and badges. Still needing Cores for infusion after last update made me not bother playing anymore. 🤷♂️

2 RepliesSame here, beta D1 player and I share the same concerns. Bungie could implement an increase in chances to get said weapon/Armor/Item each time you do it, thereby almost guaranteeing that item in X amount of tries. This will at least give players an ultimatum that even if their RNG hasn’t been favouring them, than in X amount of tries they would get it for sure.

1 ReplyI suspect that Bungie no longer has the money or man power to produce content at am acceptable rate, and it has everything to do with the initial rewrite of Destiny 1 setting a precedent for how they would do all content from then on in. My theory: Instead of producing the game how the original writers had laid it out, they chose to stretch the content to generate income for them and their partner Activision. Leading to the departure of the Lead writer and perhaps by coincidence Marty O'Donnel. Now seeing as that margin was larger because Bungie still owned the IP for Destiny, they enjoyed initial success at launch from sales and their agreement with Actvision. The fact that they shipped that cut up version set the bar for Bungie being in a constant state of damage control with its playerbase, and their lukewarm tone deaf responses, illustrate that. The biggest mistake they made was promising a ten year commitment to Activision to produce revenue. When they didn't, Activision squeezed the feeding tube and Bungie had a reason to produce more. I think that's why Taken King was as good as it was. If Bungie had produced the writers original story and not the cobbled together mess that was vanilla D1 they would have made considerably more money in my opinion and Really set a standard to define the looter shooter genre, instead they defined it as being in a constant state of serviceability held up by microtransactions, A safe and non-creative solution to a declining bottom line of an industry that has not raised its box game prices since I can't remember when; with the phrase "we have been listening to your feedback" to keep the foolishly optimistic on the hook.

2 RepliesI finally had enough of the it. I had 1k voices on my 3rd run. But the rng for every other piece of the game is just too much. Waiting for rng on 3 of my titles. But after weeks of tryi g I finally said screw it. And put the game away. I've been happier and enjoying better games in the weeks since.

24 RepliesEdited by FataLVisioN_Oo: 2/14/2019 10:43:00 PMYou have 33 riven clears and you literally only cheese riven... here is the world smallest violin playing just for you.

9 RepliesEdited by BeerMeYouWill: 2/13/2019 7:53:49 PM40 riven clears for me know 1KV. 14 SotP clears no Anarchy. Just over it. Such a stupid business model to not reward your hard core players. I got one foot and four toes out the door and seriously considering never coming back.

And they dropped the rng for the spoils of the shore by so much that no one I know is getting them at all anymore

1 ReplyIgnore the trolls. They aren't doing this community any favors

7 RepliesIf youre skipping the raid and just doing riven cheese for the key. You shouldn't get shit.

1 ReplyAnother week, all three characters ran through the ascendant challenge and no ghost. The ghost is the only thing I need for the dreaming city title and yet doing the challenge every week on all three characters for more than a season and I still don’t have it; that’s just nonsense and the kind of thing that is driving players away from this game

Wanted to love the idea of grinding out Forge weapons, but ended up being the biggest turnoff. RNG fatigue is intense.

1 ReplyI gotta agree with you. There is WAY TOO MUCH RNG based rewards in this game. And it sucks. Here's a list of most things locked behind RNG: -90% of exotics -1k Voices -LORE TABS -Powerful gear that you don't already have (ex: if you have 650 everything except boots and you keep getting everything BUT boots.) -Good rolled gear -Raid loot -catalysts -Black Armory powerful bounties -Malfeasance meatball -hawkmoon's gimmick (it's a joke, relax) -GEAR FOR TRIUMPH TABS. WHY. -eververse rewards -LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE ENGRAM IN THIS GAME! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY ENGRAMS! -many more! I know I missed a lot but those are the most that stood out to me. The thing that I loved about Breakneck, Luna's Howl, Loaded Question, Mountaintop, Whisper of the worm was that it WASN'T BASED ON RNG. NOPE. All you had to do was grind and put time in FOR A GUARANTEED REWARD!
-
rng sucks balls in the Destiny universe but there's gotta be a set amount of it in a game that has random-rolled weapons n armor. I just recently got my 1k and i've done maybe 50-60 riven kills and 1 heart run per week, opened 3 chests in each run. It's frustrating, but the outcome is waaaayyyyyy better than the grind.
-
6 RepliesThey even have hidden rng valentines triumphs. Like what? Get kills with two tailed fox. An exotic no less. And if it never dropped for you? Oh well....you are SOL.
