I play Gambit with 2 shotguns and tractor cannon, bottom tree striker and synthoceps. Always have done, even before the class got a buff.
100+ kills and 100+ motes in many matches and 5-6 resets is all the proof I don't really need advice on Gambit load outs.
Malfeasance? No thanks, it's a nerf gun compared to that set up.

Well, still this mean you don't use Breackneck in it's original place. Where, then, you use Breackneck to be so effective?

I use Breakneck in strikes, nightfalls, bounty chasing and forges. Why would I use anything other than my Titan set up in Gambit though? Lunas, Breakneck and others would just hold me back. It's the absolutely best killing, depositing set up available to Guardians...and the most fun. Give it a shot sometime 👍🏻

Here's the main thing.=) You use Breakneck in common PvE activities. I use Last Word in strikes and forges and pretty ok with it. This don't mean Last Word is most effective gun in PvE.=) Just me liking LW and activity that easy enough to use any loadout you want with your 650 level. And if I could choose primary to clean crowd of enemies, I would use Ace of Spades after all. Ace + Chromatic Fire to Warlock will make Breakneck a child toy.=)

AoS get two blasts with Cromatic Fire.=) Way better, then one. And Ace one-shot in head 70% of ads in strikes/freeroam/forges. And you can't waste exotic in common PvE activities. There is no hard requirements for effective play. Not like you need Phoenix Protocol in raids, or Geomag in Gambit. No need in Whisper or Jötunn. After all, change guns is the only way to make strikes fun.

Yeah, I tested it myself. One blast from base AoS perk and one from Cromatic perk. The look really bad, still.=) Same as strange look of Geomag. Robe + Titan like legs looks very strange. Even new raid chest piece can't help.

Firefly and Transistor perk from Chromatic Fire, yes.
