Wow, armor was great in D1.
STOP LIKING THIS POST! (I've never had a single connection issue and suddenly I'm being disconnected constantly. I thought this section was for feedback and now I'm being targeted by Bungie? Wow.)
(No need to attack me, just noticed it and shared a thought.)
I just went back and watched some videos from D1. Man, I used to love the armor, the glow, the animation, the style.
How could the makers drop the ball on that so bad? Like, I'm not mad, I'm honestly just asking.
I've played across Hunter, titan, and warlock. I'm not coming across anything but raid/reverie that look decent. The Baron drops are cool but they're timegated to only heroic week. Why not let us farm them? It's fun. Borderlands you can farm bosses for hours and it's fun. Why stop someone from having fun? To make them wait. Keep them around longer? I'm sure people are quitting rather than waiting.
Even exotics are lack luster, it's like 2 per character are great, the rest let you reload faster or let you throw another grenade. What about gloves that let you turn a teammate invisible? Or boots that leave fire behind you after a multikill? Or a chest piece that reflects shots back?
The answer is all about balance. But why not have items that allow some to win and some to lose? Make losers like me strive to get those items and get good too. Don't nerf it all and punish everyone.
I'm actually thinking about going back to D1. Why am I thinking that? I'm not actually asking. I'm just shocked that I am.
Feel free to leave any armor sets you think are good and let me know how to farm them. Thanks.

I loved a lot of D1 armor. I hope they continue to bring the styles back. Destiny will only continue to benefit from greater diversity and quantity of items. Loved my eclipse maw and my sweeeet iron banner armor from D1...

I feel like the armor degradation in destiny 2 hit Titans harder than the other two classes. Warlocks seem to have roughly the same percentage of good-looking gear as they did in D1, hunters have more ugly gear in D2, but still a lot of solid options aside from armored looks, but dear God the Titans have next to nothing that is both functional and looks sexy. Armor pieces don't work well together in mix and match combos like they used to. I feel like some minor tweaks in design to make sillouettes allign better would be a good start, but this is definitely something the aesthetics team needs to take a hard look at. TLDR: Titans look a lil more booty than they used to, warlocks are more or less the same, hunters are the middle ground

I miss the ability to pick what kind of rank up package I get. I also kinda wish the Hung Jury had an ornament, but it was probably already perfect as is.

8 RepliesYeah, I remember the first time I saw someone with a full set of Crota armour glowing turquoise. Totally awesome. I think what happened was too many people complained about the top level gear only being available through Raids. Instead of leaving something to a particular activity and fixing how people got in to that activity (eg, raid matchmaking) they just went with the abolition of end game gear and broadened it up to everyone. Since I’m a casual player and have nobody to raid with, I still don’t do raids to this day, and now there’s really no reason since I can just get stuff from strikes and the like. (I might add, all activities that match make for you) And, in advance, ALL of you are right that it’s my fault for not LFGing. Yes, I’m a bad person. Yes, I’m too dumb to matter. Blah, blah, blah.

All of the armor I like in D2 is Y1, also known as useless.

I agree with you on Destiny 2 lacking visual appeal towards gear. D1 had some of the coolest looking areas and weapons in the franchise so far! Trials of Osiris and RoI banner gear was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Although, Destiny 1 gameplay and balance on the other hand does not compete against Destiny 2. The amount of time and ammo it takes to kill one Major in that game is just ridiculous let alone a boss. D2 just needs better looking gear -

A lot of this stuff looks like something inexperienced high school kids would design. Granted, the armor looks better now. When D2 launched I found 90% of the gear uglier than shit. What were they thinking with this low effort trash?

I had three warlocks and they wore crota's end, vog, and king's fall with ornaments respectively. Them boots on the vog warlock armour were the stuff dreams were made of, they were literally hobgoblin legs. The chest piece was the strands from the gorgons. The helmet was a harpy. It just looked amazing. Edit: D2 Prestige Leviathan armour is quite nice.

But then Forsaken came out and made them all useless. I can’t understand why they would make it such a grind to get the gear and ornaments and then shortly after make the armor useless or at least a detriment to continue to use. Like the Summer of Solstice gear was awesome but a week after getting it, it was no longer useful. Also they need an ”apply to all” option when previewing shaders.

I haven't had a single issue with connection. Now after posting this I'm having errors. I can't help but think Bungie doesn't like me suddenly. This was meant as feedback. Don't hate me Bungie.

All of D2 is like that, not just the armor. It's like they took a D1 beta and used it to create D2. The forgot/lost all improvements that D1 had at the end of it's life and have had to re-invent most of it for D2. It was so silly.

This was one of my biggest disappointments in D2. After age of triumphs badass glowing chroma armor, I was thinking "man I cant wait to see the chroma armor in d2, its gonna be great" Sadly mistaken...

2 RepliesAll fun exotics were nerfed because people wouldn’t stop crying over their potency in PvP. Ursa Furiosa should’ve never been nerfed. Now unusable in PVE. Blade Barrage should’ve never been nerfed because that in turn nerfed Shards of Galanor. I want Nothing Manacles, Twighlight Garrison and Bones of Aao back, but then those would be nerfed because this is what cry babies want; because they don’t play enough to get them dropped themselves. Armor perks were better in D1, raid armor was stunning especially with ornaments, trials gear was really nice looking. There is nothing to play for in this game anymore.

2 RepliesI found myself quitting D2 for about 7+ months ago right before The Forsaken dropped because I did not like the feel of the game and I went back to D1 and was like "wow I really miss this game and wish they continued updating it" I loved the way the armor looked and the perks and I loved the way the weapons felt and shot... I like D2 a little and found myself coming back to it and even found myself buying the forsaken but the weapons and armor are still blah to me and the perks are just plain! nothing special really and they look terrible! I understand they are trying to steer away from D1 stuff but if they wanted a completely new game why call it Destiny 2 instead of just something else? :P I agree with you 100%!
