Fellow guardians,
I just want to post some feedback about console and the UI.
I play on PS4 now and have played on Xbox one as well. One of the most frustrating parts of my destiny experience is the slow load time of the UI and character/inventory menu. Some days are better than others but for the most part the UI is unbearably slow and makes it not worth bringing up the menu to switch loadouts.
Hopefully this will be fixed some time in the near future. Being a daily and weekly player it is starting to get pretty old with how long some of the load times are for the menus.
EDIT:
I just want to clarify that this comes from a place of love for this game and the different worlds that Bungie has created and offered us up over the years. I played each Bungie Halo game until my thumbs and eyes bled. I played 1000s of hours of destiny 1 and have been putting the same effort into d2. Bungie does great work and I am just trying to figure out how to get the most out of it. I'm a sucker for the experience that they provide us with but cant get enough of the different worlds and want to better my own experience.
Seeing all of the feedback and learning what I can do on my end has been great. Thanks everyone for sharing your insight and enlightening me on what can be done to my own console to help mitigate slow UI/UX loading times. It has been a huge help.
To be fair, I know how hard Bungie works. That being said, I'm still curious if they've done anything on their end about the UI times on console and wanted to open up a dialogue.

15 RepliesAn ssd helps a lot I hear That's half the issue

3 RepliesEdited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 2/10/2019 1:49:35 AMThe thing that’s the most annoying to me: Me: “I’m in transit, let me check to see what this gear looks like with these shaders.” *clicks preview shader button Destiny: “We don’t do that here.”

1 ReplyI swear I remember seeing somewhere that they’d address load times sometime soon. I feel like I’m playing prison of elders and trying to pop heavy synth while skolas shoots my bubble
-
Oh God this f*cking sucks big time....so slow it's painful and frustrating.

6 RepliesPlayed on both regular Xbox One, and an Xbox One X, and as others have stated, there is literally no difference. I also use a Samsung T5 flash drive for the game so my load times to/from planets or within regions on maps is very fast - I'm almost always first to load in anywhere by 15-20 seconds compared to the rest of my fireteam, but, the menu...the menu absolutely sucks. The fact that there is no difference between systems seems to indicate that it may be an issue on Bungie's end with however their servers/databases are set up, and/or within the console version's of the game itself.

Because you are playing on ten year old hardware buddy get a PC, or don’t complain. They fix cant it because you guys have trash hardware
-
I was sure Bungie specifically stated the load times were the result of code from previous updates being left behind and no longer used. I'm also fairly sure they said in September that when Foresaken came out that it was going to be fixed - but I don't recall them putting the fix into the patch notes. My load times are no better now than when they were 12 months ago. However - given other things wrong with the game - not a top priority for me.

14 RepliesGet an xbox one X or a ps4 pro, problem solved. Your experience it tied to the quality of your hardware. Pc players also get to play at 60+fps.

1 ReplyWhy are people turning this into an argument What’s wrong with a fast UI I’m sure if the UI was slow on PC,XB1X and PS4P you’d all be complaining too So get off your high horse and go somewhere else if you want to complain ,It’s a simple request for a small fix Jesus Christ....

I recently upgraded to an xbox one X and there's still no difference. The UI is slow as shit and the loading screens are insane. They need to fix it.
-
I could have sworn I read that bungie was fixing this next season.

2 RepliesI literally switched to PC because of the loading times

To be fair, I thought the UI was actually not to bad for console when D2 first launched. It did seem a bit faster. And I say this based off of trying to load heavy ammo synths in D1, which felt like I could grab a drink and make a ham sandwich by the time it loaded... Now it feels like it drags or slows to the point that it feels nothing like it did when the game (D2) came out. I recently had to call my cable provider for other reasons and had them refresh/reboot my ONT. Reset my router and now the UI seems a bit more fluid. Still slow, but a bit better. To the point, I'm on fiber and I'll be having the data port opened on my ONT box and running a line direct to my router, which is hardwired to my Xbox. I really don't know what else can be done on my end. Maybe the catalog of things to load on bungies end is just to high now for it to be a smooth transition?

5 RepliesThis game has a definite and maximum amount of memory allocated to run all the systems in game. As the game ages and more updates, patches, and dlc are added, the memory usage gets taxed. It will only get worse just like it did in D1. The only way around it is to supplement is with more memory on your end. Upgrade your hard drive.

4 RepliesJust so we are clear, many people state that buying an SSD fixes the vast majority of issues, so the data transfer speed of the hardrive is the main issue on the consoles. They run 5,400rpm drives which are small but also pretty slow, your average desktop drive in a PC runs at 7,200rpm which is faster in general, then take into account lots of a high end PC's have SSD's now. I'd expect the next consoles to run SSD's, it's just done for cost really as the consoles have a price point they have to hit.
-
Sorry to hear that my man but, I mean honestly what did you expect. The same thing happened in D1 while I was on my xbox360 and it still remains the same problem on today's consoles to be honest that's one of the big reasons I bought D2 for my PC instead KNOWING that the load time would only get worse the more content they added. Best of luck though.

It’s really annoying
-
Yeah, I'm on a One X and I'm hard wired to the router. The game is still slowAF.
-
Funny that other console games don't require you to install an ssd to work quickly. Garbage coding and infrastructure.

1 ReplyNot saying there should be alternate means of handling this - it should absolutely be fixed. However, I've suggested time and time again that they do a couple of things to alleviate the need to visit your inventory after every few activity completions: -Auto-dismantle on any rare equipment once you hit a particular seasons' max power level (make it a toggle, for those who would care to keep them for whatever reason. -Favorite your choice of any consumable (Fireteam medallions, activity boons, etc.) to be able to use it through the ghost interface. I'd be so much happier to do things like patrols for hours on end if I didn't spend an hour of every four hours deleting crap.

I log into other accounts to help friends with quests or whatever and can tell you without a doubt that different accounts have different loading times, and they are consistent. By consistent I mean, one account in particular always has longer loading times than another. Pretty weird when I am logging in on the same ps4 pro every time.
-
Completely agree. Slow UI, sometimes by the time it comes out, the next sequence starts and it disappears before u can even click something. Hope they listen and try to speed it up. I was SOOOO happy when they sped up the shader dismantling.

Im hardwired into a router. I have 150mbps. ????? What else in Gods name do i need to do????
