I'm a solo player and yes I've tried through LFG for raid groups but my personal experience has been painful. For some reason had more luck with Levi and managed a few clears. Anyway for my fellow guardians in the same boat who dont know about this or aren't doing it I recommend you do. Can do solo, is very easy and takes 5 mins (loads of guides on youtube) Drops armour pieces which are one of the best looking sets imo and all weapons except 1k. I've got my hands on 3 chattering bones, a nation of beasts, a transfiguration and an age old bond and they are all very good guns. Posting as a guy I did a strike with earlier had no clue about it until I told him and got a nice thank you message later after he'd grabbed a chattering bone and was very chuffed. Good luck!
