For god's sake keep loss mechanics out of quests

Basically what the title says. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing a huge chunk of your progress disappear. Especially if you HATE doing the activity. It's bull crap, lazy padding to extend play. If you REALLY want to extend the grind keep it FIXED but a bit longer. This only punishes average players. Hyper competitive sweats will have no problem breezing through, but average players (the crucible step for Last word for instance) will be disproportionately punished. It is poorly designed. Have the step be, kill 150 players, or something. It is even, fair and not going to punish average to lower skill players by taking away progress. Or put a cap on total loss per match.

  • I finished that portion of the quest in a couple hours (and I never play PvP, and mostly suck at it), but I agree with you. Loss mechanics feel awful; yes, you prove that you're "worthy" in a way that simple grinding wouldn't, but I'm not convinced that's the sort of thing you do for an exotic weapon, much less one of the highest-profile ones from D1. You want loss mechanics in PvP? Fine, make quests for weapons like Luna's and NF, that an average player or average PvEer won't miss. Don't do it for exotics that everyone wants (and don't tell me "bUt IT's a pVp GUn", because it's fun as hell to use in PvE too).
