Old Exotic Armor needs a serious buff and rework
Hi Bungie
I’m a Warlock main, so I have all the Warlock’s exotic, but it’s sad to say I only use Nezarec’s Sin, Crown of Tempests, Ophidian Aspect, Skull of Dire Ahamakara, Phoenix Protocol, Geomag’s Stabilizer, Lunafaction Boots, Chromatic Fire, Contraverse’s Hold , Karnstein’s Armlets & Winter’s Guile. The remaining sit in my vault unused as there utility is either very negligible or just downright terrible.
Example, I broke out Vesper of Radius yesterday just for shit and giggle to use something else and paired it with Attunement of Grace while doing the Bergusia Forge. The arc damage effect is barely noticeable and due to the slow recharge rate of rifts even with perks and mods it was useless. Now compare this with Phoenix Protocol where your basically regain Super and class abilities almost instantly when you and your team-mates benefit from well & grenades.
Old exotics armor need buffs and serious reworks to compete with Forsaken armor exotics. Power fantasy needs to comeback in a real way for these pieces.
Also, this might mitigate some of the frustration the player base have not getting any of the newer exotics since the newer stuff is just 100x better in functionality than old exotic pieces

Dude I totally agree with you but damn. You use 11 exos? I main hunter and all I ever use is 1. Shards pve 2. Orpheus pve 3. Graviton pvp

Dam I'm a hunter main and I only use 5: celestial nighthawk, ophidia spathe, gwisin vest, raidan flux, and Orpheus rig (I have know idea if I spelled most of those right). Basically all other hunter exotics are underpowered/don't have any reason to warrant using them unless you have an extremely specific play style. I'm sure the same can be said for the other 2 classes. And before anyone says anything, I don't use shards of galanore because I can't stand blade barrage in PvP and they are waaayyyyy too inconsistent to warrant using in PvE. I just stick to ophedia spathe when I play blade barrage.

I just wear Vesper because the ornament looks so amazing, really good armor design (compared to most warlock armor with is dissapointing). But yeah you don't notice it is exotic.

Oh I do want to point out though that some exotics you listed actually got a buff which is probably why you're using them now. Not disagreeing with your point, just stating something.

Hey, I don't know what you're talking, I totally think my "enhanced fusion grenades" titan arms are totally OP. I mean who doesn't want their sticky grenade to no longer stick? That's like all I've been asking for since D1 and I can finally do it! Also, slightly improved recharges for abilities man....c'mon, you can NOT beat that, like ever with anything. And don't give me this "you can get your abilities back instantly" BS from other items or classes, that's just hyped up bull. And lets not forget about marking targets around you while you sit in a rift totally exposed to the world and easily spottable. That's just simply the best, way better than needing to take damage to mark someone, pft that's so dumb.

Oh yeah. They had no clue what they were doing when they designed the Year 1 exotics. I come up with better ideas sitting on the toilet for gods sake! Unfortunately because of everything Bungie has on the table I don't see them reworking these exotics until next year. Even then we'll get two per each class and that'll be it for another year.

We want exotic armor back and actually make are design of the character we choose work for use again like destiny . why do hunter need unlocked with gear to use triple jump , why do warlocks only able use 3 exotic armors in the game , why titan on able use 3 eye, when none that matter in d1 , all are armor help and bonuse it if we choose are guardian to be a guardian , not mom and dad says we got us it that way . but bungie as mom and dad this game so fn much it done , we all see it .

you guys are asking for way to much than Dumbgie can handle. what I am trying to say is there are to many problems and bungie can‘t fix it. it won‘t be soon until its reaches the dead game zone.

5 RepliesWhy don’t they add an insurance mechanism, which would be like this: if a player doesn’t get an exotic Engram for a given playtime threshold (I’d say 30 hours) then the next boss he beats (or Nightfall) drops an exotic no matter what. If however he does get an exotic drop within 30 hours since the previous drop, the countdown resets. It’s not even that hard to implement in the game’s code. At the current rate I won’t even have HALF the exotic weapons by the time Destiny 3 releases. Not everyone has time to play D2 all day, not to mention major games releasing. It’s common sense, really...
