99% of the game is PvE. And you can get Platinum from selling in game items. So everything is available to you if you don't spend a penny. Loot boxes are the problem, not in game purchases. Sure somebody spending $100s of dollars is going to have much better equipment faster, but then what's the point of playing the game if you're just going to pay for it? It's an option, doesn't make a difference. I haven't paid for anything and have still enjoyed at least 50 hours of gameplay so far.

Pay to win what though? In a PvE game what would exactly be the winning part? Bragging rights? If there's no competitive side to it I don't see a problem with "pay to win".

Pay to win is a term generally used for competitive multiplayer, it means gaining an advantage. You have no advantage in Warframe. If the objective of the game is to become powerful, then everybody is winning at all times. As far as I know there is no best weapon or frame, so all spending money does is decrease the grind. I don't think you understand the term "pay to win"

You're mistaken. First off, the game is 100% free to play. Secondly, you can experience the entire game including every piece of gear by just playing the game. There isn't anything you can spend money on that will put you at an advantage over other players. Microtransactions do not equal pay to win. So is any game with dlc/expansions pay to win? Or single player games with microtransactions?
