DISCLAIMER BEFORE YOU REPLY: aside from one eyed mask and titan skating. I fully agree with the majority of people on here that the one eyed mask is way out of hand and titan skating on pc needs to go.
just recently, i think two weeks ago, i got the one eyed mask on my titan. Now that i have it i find pvp easier and more fun than ever, but before i had the mask i never played pvp on my titan. ever. i always played on hunter, my main character.
i had no reason to play on a titan before the mask. mainly because the jump ability is the slowest and least versatile of the 3 classes. warlocks can bunny hop pretty quickly and hunters can be very fast and take huge advantage of vertical space but titans just kind of.. float there. no momentum or anything, just a little glide. This is of course not the case on pc.
The class ability also sucks, at least compared to the other two classes. It can be useful but not near as much as dodge and rift. The wall can be broken or jumped over extremely easily.
The supers are lacklustre, at least aside from top tree hammers. Sentinel hit detection is horrific, i have a clip of hitting a guy with perfectly find connection 5 or 6 times without him dying. they actually were hits too, i know im not just missing because it made the sound that it makes when you hit something. fist of havoc is slow and the slams are pretty small, it is just a very poor man’s nova warp. everything that thundercrash does can be done better by blade barrage.
And lastly the abilities within the subclass trees are just.. are not useful when you look at stuff available for other classes. Top sentinel with defensive strike probably has the best. things like the throwing hammers though, and intertia override and frontal assault.. these abilities are just bad when you look at things like focused breathing, and pulsewave, and smoke grenades, and flawless execution, and don’t even get me started on dark matter. The best use of titans’ abilities that i can think of is insurmountable skullfort with shoulder charge but that build will fall short quickly against people with shotguns or just people who can pay attention to surroundings.
anyway, sorry for the little rant, but i just cannot enjoy pvp without the mask on my titan. i have no reason to play pvp on it. i have no favourite subclass because they all feel the same. i hope one eyed mask and skating gets nerfed but i really hope that along with that comes across the board buffs to titans because they suck right now without those two things.
sincerely, a hunter main

Titans don't suck, hunters have just got so much going for them and the mask is the best exotic by far so it feels like there's nothing left. Sentinels can block all damage and get close to the target and as soon as the enemy tries to run, you throw your shield and that can kill people who you can't even see or even know they're there. Sunbreaker is getting a buff so burning maul will be seen quite a bit more at least while people test it out. Yeah the striker is a bit iffy but infinite SC is still pretty good, in a close quarter meta, SC fits in fine. Warlocks though are getting a buff that isn't needed for dawnblade rather than fixing it's inconsistency, NW is being destroyed for PvE and PvP while the bomb is getting small buffs meant to help damage single enemies which isn't what the slow bomb is used for, especially not in PvP. I'm not even going to talk about the stormcaller except to say that it still only tickles people to death and is probably one of the riskiest supers in the game, probably on par with the FoH but at least that one shots in range. Hunters are just getting the spa treatment and have been since warmind. Ok the wormhusk was needed but come on, the very next expansion they get the best super in the game and the recently (over)buffed Spectral Blades with an insane exotic that everyone else only wishes we could have. Warlocks have what, contraverse hold? It'd be nice if the handheld supernova actually worked but nope, more inconsistency for warlocks. That being said, the hit detection thing on sentinels is iffy both ways, sometimes I hit and get hit from some silly ranges with the melee.

2 RepliesEdited by W33DEDPLAGUE: 1/23/2019 5:01:32 PMI'm also a hunter main, hadn't played my titan in 5 months, then got her up to max 3 weeks ago...for people that say hunter is the easiest class to use, I sure as hell had a much easier time with my titan. The mobility is actually really good, especially when you have a shoulder charge move. Forget OEM, I prefer Insurmountable Skullfort, the thing is so good. K/d was equal to my hunter, despite having very little experience with titan, and felt easier to maintain with less swearing on my part lol. It actually felt easier to use in pvp for me. Point is, there are different classes with different abilities for a reason. Some will use one more effectively than others and won't be as good on the next. To me, Titans have more viable subclass trees than hunters honestly. Titans aren't bad at all, they just require a different kind of playstyle. But people who can't use things effectively will always go to "they aren't effective and are weak" instead of considering their own usage and playstyle. It is what it is, continue on.

I think they will be great after the update. They are already pretty good. I recently used bubble and it is still really good. They do still need buffs though
-
2 RepliesTheir supers are kinda trash
-
7 RepliesTL:DR They don't suck. You suck.
-
They literally have one useful and unique thing for each mode. Pve is hammer strike and pvp is OEM. They are gimped warlocks
-
Tbh I think Titans are really good, their class ability can allow you to pick up heavy even if it is watched by enemy team, something no other class can do, and we are the only class with suppress nades!

1 ReplyEdited by DiZ: 1/24/2019 4:16:30 AMAfter coming back to this post and reading a lot of the responses/replies, I've noticed a trend. Those who only play Quickplay(mostly not even very well mind you) and/or have never reached, let alone been successful in, a high Comp. match, say things along the lines of: - Titans are fine, if not the best - I do better on my Titan than my main(poor anecdotal evidence) - Shoulder Charge OP bro! Skullfort rocks!(not really, but you get the exaggeration) - All Supers are top tier - One-Eyed Mask isn't even good(https://youtu.be/hOb55MaEna0) And then those more towards the opposite end of the skill spectrum, essentially preach the opposite, though it's varied somewhat depending on the platform(PC or console). My final take on this, is that console Titans(as a whole), as they are currently, are like Bladedancers in the last game when it comes to how well they do in generic pubs vs. high-level games. Explanation(not a somewhat cohesive rant, unlike my earlier post in this thread) focused entirely on Titans down below. Though be warned, it's a pretty long explanation, and as with anything, contains bias:
In pubs(AKA Quickplay), Titans are actually great. Still not the strongest, but a very solid class for pubstomping blueberries who don't understand how to counteract the basicness of their kits. In high-level games though, whether those be in high Comp. or Private Matches/scrims, they don't have much going for them. All their neutral game really amounts to is Suppressor Grenades and an arguably unbalanced Exotic. The jump doesn't really provide anything dynamic for getting around much noticably faster or use mid-engagement(besides the weapon swap glitch, but Warlocks can do that too, and are faster via surfing). As well as very minimal airtime, especially with Catapult, and you lose so much of its "fuel" if you cancel and then reactivate it multiple times within the same jump. It doesn't excel in any spectrum of movement, unlike how a Hunter has quick verticality, or how a Warlock has the horizontal plane, but better airtime as well, leaving it with good, yet slow, vertical game for baiting doorways/corners(even with very low Mobility). The Supers are okay, but are either completely nullified/outdone by other Supers, or are easily teamshottable when people are properly positioned/ready for them. Sentinel is the only real exception, but it's easy to run from, and the Shield Throw inconsistently ranges anywhere from god-tier to garbage. And Shield Bashes have always suffered from terrible inconsistency similar to pre-buff Spectral Blades or even Arcstrider. Hammers are good, sometimes great, but easy to juke, and playing anything other than Sentinel really hurts your team play(unless there's multiple Titans, but outside of potentially Countdown, you're team's already at a disadvantage if that's the case) because other meta roaming Supers are much harder to put down by comparison without a Suppressor or your own Super. We're not going to talk much about Striker. Stomp-ees completely invalidates all its Supers on open(AKA most) maps, and if not easily avoided, lose to every meta roaming/shutdown Super. And the neutral game is arguably as strong as Hammers': not very. Barricade is okay for grabbing Heavy(if it's used) when enemies are further away, and for limiting how opponents approach you. Same goes for it's usage on Control points or Countdown bomb sites. But it's extremely easy to play against via maneuvering around/above it, or even outright destroying it with Special ammo or abilities. If Barricade's popped too closed at an attempt to disengage, you will be pushed and finished off either mid-animation or right after it's been deployed, whether that be by a shotgun, melee, or even primary depending on the terrain. Onto the Shoulder Charge variants, Shoulder Charge(along with most melees that require player-player contact) as a kill ability is almost nonexistant against good players with Shotguns, and especially since most play takes place at mid-range. It is only used for movement, and even then, it's easy to play against, and is only used on Hammers, because the other subclass trees are the weakest versions of those subclasses(arguments could be made for Striker/Sentinel, but having two average grenades and a bottom-tier roaming, or one great grenade and a potentially solid Super, but no health regen with its inconsistent hit reg., are not worth it). Strangely enough, One-Eyed Mask takes some of what's above and throws it out the window, allowing the riskier/weaker subclass options(i.e. Bottom Sentinel, Thundercrash) to suddenly rise to top-tier status. One reason being because it provides not just health regen, but literally instantanteous and full regen. Your average joe may not be able to make very effective use of it, but a good player, even against others more or less on the same level, can make it look absolutely broken. And not in the, "A good player can make anything look broken," way. I mean it in the truest sense I can muster. That's why it's used so much, across all platforms, and is the only time you'll probably see a Titan used in high Comp. on console, aside from the stubborn mains. Regardless of how you feel about Mask, its strength cannot be denied.
To those who actually read all of that, thank you, and have a good day(or goodnight depending on timezone).

6 RepliesEdited by DiZ: 1/22/2019 5:44:55 AMI was inspired to hop back on my Titan after recently watching a PC Tournament Finals series(not a very serious one though to my knowledge) since I've been neglecting it for a bit, and it just doesn't compare at all. Titans are the worst class on console imo unless you play passively, and even then they're still average at best. The day Mask gets nerfed, or Bungie ever implements any rules from scrims/tournies(i.e. No Exotic armor) in Comp., Titans will be used even less in high level games on console except by stubborn mains. All they have going for them is Suppressor grenades. That and/or Mask are the only practical reasons to bring one. Bubble's okay, but it's only usable when no one else has a Super, and it's only truly impactful in Countdown. More down below, but it gets a bit too ranty, isn't focused on Titans exclusively, and creates a text wall if not put in a Spoiler.
Even Warlocks are barely used outside of Nova Warp(which is getting toned down in the near future). High Comp. is literally a terrible rendition of "Attack of the Clones". There is not a shred of diversity to be found unless it's something blatantly overpowered(i.e. Wavesplitter). This sequel has been a Hunter meta for its entire lifespan on console, and it's honestly tiring to see the same thing over and over. I barely even play my Hunter anymore because I've gotten bored of it, and I mained it for the entirety of the previous game. I spent the majority of Taken King and Rise of Iron maining Classic FFA as a Bladedancer(with no RNG "Frontstab") because it was regarded as the weakest, to now only playing my Hunter for Raids and certain PvE farms. It's just not exciting anymore. In this game, you don't have to be insanely aware of your spacing in CQC to avoid a "cross map" Warlock melee, especially getting quickly double meleed by one if you don't one-shot them with your Shotgun as they'd get an overshield or health just for slapping you. No having to time your jump well enough to avoid getting aped at lightspeed by a Titan skating at you or killing them before they can get close enough(especially when Jug was a thing). Aside from the rare primary duels and teamshots, all high Comp. amounts to for CQC from my perspective is having to look up in the sky very quickly because that Hunter just jumped to orbit with Stompe-ees, and unless you're one yourself, you're literally a free kill if you don't look up/predict it in time, because otherwise you're now incapable of shooting at them while they reign down bullets on your skull. Since the other classes can't jump that high, that suddenly, console's field of view is extremely narrow, and what I'll call the "sensitvity spectrum" is completely different between thumbsticks and MnK. Doing that doesn't feel like an outplay to me, it feels just as bs as a lot of the things the other classes could do in the last game, that they just can't anymore. I don't even want to get into the new Supers and Exotics that buff those Supers. Maybe my problem is really with Exotics, as I truly and utterly hate Stomp-ees in a similar way as I did Bones, and even more than either, Wormhusk in its heyday, as well as OEM as it is. Sorry for the rant, but I just kept going and it turned into this.
18 RepliesTitans are, by far, the best in pvp to date. If you disagree... then do some research on how to put a build together. The Titan is the one class that can go into pvp, finish on top of the leaderboard.. and never fire a weapon.... if done right. Perks of being a Titan: Regen health Over-shields One hit melee Some sort of shoulder charge/shield bash Suppression grenades that, if targets are hit. They are better than the hunters tether outside of the lucky chance you can tether a group and kill them. Area of effect grenades that last way too long and can cut off paths. Tracking hammers that explode and can clear a room. Boots that can make you immune and deflect supers. Can move faster than a hunter now unless hunter has max mobility. Etc Etc Obviously skill comes into play and it fully depends on the player... But it offers more options that can be considered a third weapon and this then allows for a more versatile loadout due to choices. I hope other classes can get this way and soon.

1 ReplyLiterally every titan super, (especially sentinel) is extremely powerful. All their supers possess multiple abilities. Sentinel has shield bashing, shield throwing, shield blocking all in one? This combined by one eyed mask makes titan supers unchallenged unless combated by another super. Titans are the most powerful class in crucible right now.
-
2 RepliesHuh? Because you don`t like something it deserves a buff?
-
2 RepliesYou can't titan. Titans are great
-
3 RepliesYou haven't played a Titan long enough to actually learn to effectively utilize their abilities which is fine, so I think it's a little unfair to expect definitive results on what their potential amounts to. Kind of like how I can't expect to get a we ran out of medals on middle tree arcstaff playing like I usually do on a Titan. Different classes tend to reflect different play styles. The one eyed mask situation exists because it relies on merely taking damage and killing your opponent which every class is tasked to do regardless of what exotic they have equipped. The barricade is by far the funniest ability to kill someone. Sincerely, a Titan main.
-
Probably because all their support class options got nerfed, the 3 new supers are nowhere near as fun as the other classes new supers and they have no specialized functionality in either current raid. Even a melting point is overshadowed by someone with a tractor cannon.

3 RepliesI'm a Titan main since D1, dabbled in Hunter and Warlock. Recently I've drank the cooler on that greener grass and started maining my Hunter. Here is what I have noticed, as an average on a good day crucible player: It all comes down to mobility and the fact that resilience and recovery pretty much mean -blam!- all in crucible. Imagine if Hunters were fastest and Titan's had the most resilience and Warlocks had the best recovery (yeah, then locks would be gimp by comparison, but) you get the idea. Hunters have double/triple jump, titans move like a brick with shit air control = Easy target (I've always loved killing titans, even as one); dodge, while it might not negate damage the way you'd think it would (i.e. getting out of the way), being able to juke around has significant advantages...compared to say, Barricade or Rifts where you need to be stationary....oh and reloading on dodge? Yes please. OHK supers, fast throwing projectiles. Thin frame with the right shaders (You're all using dark camo like shaders in cruci right?)....the class is the 'normal' mode for the majority of players from other FPS games, and that just comes down to jumping...there is zero advantage to a titan or lock jump, it's just different to be so. OEMask is tits tho, very op. Shoulder charge and Skullfort, very op (I can usually place podium in QP just using that). Hit detection on shields maybe off but that tracking is on point. Barricades, like you mentioned, oh no, Imma run through it...bzzt oh still alive but you ate my shotgun...oh look a rift! OHNO, no damage and hell not even a SNARE. Useless as a deterrent

4 RepliesYou're just wrong, titans are ridiculous with slide shotgunning and shoulder charges. Their only problem is disengagement. They probably have the best jump in the game for being in someones face and 2 of their supers are literaly 2 in 1 supers its insane

19 RepliesWe get one worthwhile piece of exotic armor and BAM! Nerfed! Maybe reduce tracking and reduce energy return, but anything beyond that it may as well be legendary. Listen folks, you have to kill the person that just damaged you for it to work, so, to counter it.., win the gunfight? Just a thought.

i guess the ghost cant heal brain damage from their own shoulder charges.
