The weapon slot changes were a mistake

I still don't understand what drove Bungie to revert back to D1 era special weapons? during D1 people always complained about being shotgunned around every corner or being nailed with a fusion rifle or everyone spamming snipers in every hallway, and the whole lifespan of the game was a constant back and forth or balance changes of some weapons being nigh-useless and others being broken beyond belief, until eventually they just had to nerf special ammo. So when Destiny 2 launched and all of the weapons that could one-shot people had been moved to the same slot, I was elated! The crucible at launch felt so balanced (I played on xbox one). I stopped playing after curse of osiris but recently got back into it when they offered Destiny 2 for free on PC, and I have to say the weapon changes aggravate me. My energy weapon slot is always overcrowded as there are way too many weapons that fit into it, and crucible is an absolute mess of the old shotgun corner, sniper rifle crap I thought we had finally gotten away from. in PvE I don't mind so much as I don't have to worry about other players blasting me with whatever the latest OP shotgun is and the added choice is nice but the weapon balancing in the crucible is a nightmare. can we, (at least for crucible) go back to the weapon slots as they were at D2 launch?

  • Yeah the one introduced in D2 release was a mistake, it's fixed now well at least as much as the -blam!-ed up weapon system can allow. Oh and even during that time it still wasn't balanced and you didn't even stick around for it, and this is according to all the nerfherders that even now continue to push for shitty balance. Also that special ammo nerf in D1 only prepared us for the shithole of D2 vanilla, and left it in a terrible state where only certain weapons were preferred. There's very little of nerfherders balance that meets in the middle, thankfully Bungie doesn't fully listen to that anymore and take better steps that doesn't -blam!- the game as a whole. More separation of PvP and PvE while generally bringing stuff up than down, of course there will be problems with the sandbox regardless but it's looking better than it ever has. We certainly don't need to break this shit again either, it won't heal right by any means and right now it's only shotguns in wide use. The other two as a whole aren't used anywhere near as much and deserve a buff( of course besides Telesto ), snipers have absolutely nothing special about them anymore and not many maps they really work in though. Besides Jötunn only a few fusion rifles are worth taking note of, and mainly reward those that are good with them and the same can be said about snipers. TL;DR: That change was horrible, balance was still shit and you didn't even stay for it. They had to break the game to properly heal it, another break certainly won't help it. If any change is needed it needs to be far better than D2 vanilla and any other weapon system they've made, no going back.
