Spinfoil Hat Theory; Mara’s Court and Where to Find it Pt2

With a (somewhat) reasonable cause for Mara to stay in the Dreaming City, that still doesn’t answer the question of where exactly she is in the City? Judging by the decor of her Court, I’d say the Mara retreated to the Chamber of Starlight. If you take a trip to the Lost Sector, you wouldn’t find anything close to Starlight (save for the sparkling amethyst, but that’s literally everywhere) and I think the reason for that is because that isn’t the actual Chamber. The actual Chamber is behind the enormous door at the uppermost right side of the room, which appears to be similar to the two doors located in Mara’s Court. The decals aren’t exactly the same for the doors, but the positioning of the Chamber os Starlight door on the map is rather close a drop off, around where the Item patrol Corsair in the Divalian Mist stands, meaning it likely goes down and not straight out, likely putting the actual Chamber (and potentially the Queen’s Court) deep down beneath the Silver Sea. Possibly below the entirety of the Dreaming City, where it would peak out into Space the way it does in the Queen’s Court. The Starlight part of the name is self explanatory, with the nebula and all that stars being directly behind Mara’s Throne and in context of royalty, a Chamber is usually a section of a Monarch’s estate that they could retire to. In essence, this would be the equivalent of Mara locking herself away in the tallest tower. Kind of like Rapunzel, and every three weeks, she’ll let down her hair to let her Prince(ss) Guardian-charming know just how little she appreciates their work. I’m getting off point. With the idea of Mara remaining in the Dreaming City, there’s still the problem that the place isn’t safe. The first thing Mara said when she got back was that she couldn’t stay there. So what’s the deal then, how could she stay if she’s not safe? Well the short of it is that she’s undetectable down there, and could quite possibly be off the grid in a dimensional sense. When the Ghost was first presented with the location to the Dreaming City, he said that it’s coordinates shouldn’t exist, suggesting that 3d space there doesn’t abide by normal rules of physics, specifically strung in a way to not be detectable, both visually and logically. And this is saying a lot in a universe where Dimensional Bleed is so rampant, the Guardian was able to walk into the Black Garden through a broken wall in a Martian subway, while still abiding by the rules of normal reality. Not to mention the fact that the Dreaming City brushes up incredibly close to the Ascendant Realm, to the point that the seam between realities will let loose, allowing free passage between the two worlds. I think something similar is happening in the Chamber of Starlight, in such a way that it camouflage the location from any possible rival Scheming-Queens as well as confusing the ever loving hell out of the Guardian’s Ghost when they try to figure out where they are. What I’m trying to say is the fabric of reality in the Dreaming City has been tied into a gordian knot from all the geometric masquerading, time looping, paracausal shenaniganory and all around general demential elbow rubbing. And at the center of that knot of nonsensicality, in the bowels of the Chamber of Starlight, is the Queen’s Court, with Mara sat daintily on her throne. As an overview, Mara came to the Dreaming City, saw it was in ruins and so she retreats to the last place she can hide away while staying close enough to keep an eye on things. She only communicates through the Oracle engine to try and keep her location a secret because having the Guardian come to her via the passage in the Chamber of Starlight every time they have a report to deliver would lead the Hive straight to her. So even though the Oracle can send the Guardian to anywhere in existence, it’s only taking them below the disc the Dreaming City rests on, then sends them back with just a normal short range teleporter. That Nebula the Court looks out to will convince the Guardian they’re off in some distant pocket of reality, Petra doesn’t have the will to go asking any more questions after Mara gave her her orders when she first arrived in the Dreaming City out of fear that her asking will be seen as her not believing in her Queen, the Techeuns are too afraid to reach out to Mara and find out where she is in the case that they’re taken again, and her Court is so well hidden by the reality in the Dreaming City that Mara doesn’t have to worry about the Taken finding their way to her, even on accident. So there’s literally no way that anyone could figure out where she’s been coped up for all this entire time. Except for… oh I don’t know, some handsome young Kell with exceptionally long arms to reach with. Or not. Anyway, that’s my two glimmer on the matter. If you made it through relatively understanding what I was trying to say, I thank you for reading that mess. Pt 1; https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/250610232?sort=0&page=0

Ok cool read, I like this stuff their is not enough of it and too much bitching on these forums, rant over. Right the shattered throne, was that not supposed to be her throne world now invaded by Dul and her taken? I think you are correct and she is indeed still in the city, I mean just look at where she is and her surroundings. Defo of this world/sol system. Now look at every Ascendant plane we have visited, always dark, always a kinda wind blowing and storm flashes everywhere, no real solid ground just areas floating. These areas are nothing like where she is, she is in a reality space. The nine area behind a black hole could just simply mean the other side of our galaxy, which has a supermassive black hole at it's centre. So if you look across our galaxy to the other side you are, in effect, looking behind a BH. I'm hoping we get to challenge her soon, after the last meeting and her attitude, I just want to shoot her in the face with the AoS, such a bitch

    • Wow, there is a part 1. Would the real story of Destiny make a good scifi novel?

    • Quite an interesting theory, and it would also be fitting for the Chamber of Starlight to lead to the Queen's Court. So, if one door in the Court leads to the Chamber of Starlight, another would likely lead to a 'Chamber of Dark', if the symmetry regarding the Awoken's origin in the City is anything to go by.
Undelivered, lost. Did you watch them die? Did you watch me take the knife and carve out each eye, one-two, one-two-three? Did you watch your body rot? You pretend to be aloof, but you've always been defined by your preoccupations. How deeply did you grieve when your bones were crushed to ash and dust? Undelivered, damp. Both crowns have been sundered, and Sky save me but I am unmoored. I have been a blade crying for a hand to wield me for so long, but what is a blade with nothing solid to cut? You will gentle me. You will tell me I can rest. You will try to pull me to the libraries. I cannot. I cannot. I cannot. Undelivered, burnt. Патетическая. The swelling of strong sentiment in your chest even as you mourn the world that is and was and will be. I did not go to Mars. I will not go to the Dreaming City. There is only the plan. Undelivered, lost. Cousin, do you remember the streets of the Last City? Do you remember eating fresh red grapes and playing tag between the market stalls? You cannot. We grew, we died, we were reborn. But I remember. It is the one thing I know is true. You used to LAUGH. What manipulation of the fates has led us each to our own calamities? [Forceful, looping script.] I listen to Vanguard channels every day for news of your death. If and when that news comes, I will fly to you at once, no matter where I am and no matter what front I fight on. [Aggressive pressure, carved deep enough into the paper to tear it.] I swear it. Delivered. I have been inside. I have nothing but beautiful and violent words for my report. I will meet you at your throne.
The following appears to be a letter from Eris to Mara, and I doubt that Eris Morn is fighting through the Blind Well to retrieve an Offering to the Oracle. This, along with the Emissary, seems to suggest that there is obviously more than one way to the Throne, whether it is in the Dreaming City or not. Though considering that being inside the Dreaming City would subject her to the curse, it may be that she remains away from her people to hide her progression towards godhood.
