Spawn, die from super
Spawn again, die from someone's heavy.
Spawn again, die from the 1st guy whose super isn't over yet.
Spawn again, surrounded by 3 enemies.
Every -blam!-ing game, you're matched against the most sweaty 6 stacks packing Not Forgottens.. EVERY... SINGLE.. GAME.. NO EXCEPTIONS, NONE.
No one plays PvP because it's so shit. This causes huge skill gaps, making PvP un-enjoyable, so no one plays it. The only ones left are the sweatiest of the sweats. If you decide to give it a try, you get your shit kicked so far in, you never play in crucible again.. And the cycle repeats itself.
Not enough players in crucible > huge skill gaps > un-enjoyable for newcomers/light pvpers > Causes them to not do any pvp > not enough players in crucible
The only remedy I can think of, is to implement a solo only queuing game mode with matchmaking based on skill, history, gear, triumphs. Something like Competitive with more tuned matchmaking, but exclusively solos together in a 6v6 format like Quick-play with Valor gain, so people don't care so much about losing.
Essentially a crossover from all current game modes. The solo queue of rumble, but with the 6v6 format of quick-play, and the matchmaking of competitive.
We already have the "programming" for it in other game modes, just mash it together and make it happen. It's not like I'm asking for anything complex. We literally have every piece we need already.
The only problem this could cause, is long queues in Crucible. In this situation, you can expand matchmaking criteria every 1-2 minutes. If you're sitting in queue for 2 minutes without a game, broaden the matchmaking a weeny bit, another 1-2 minutes later, broaden it some more. Do this until a proper match is found. Although I hate to compare games, but it's a system proven to work, ie: WoW arena.

Let's face it, it's not being fixed anytime soon. You might as well wait until the next game and hope they get it right then
-
Cuz ur bad

Just use a Lmg, get ammo for said Lmg, and kill 10 guardians.

Is this sarcasm? I mean, c'mon man. The things you listed do happen occasionally, but not constantly. At least not in my experience. I enjoy Destiny's pvp. Can it be frustrating at times? Sure, but as long as you don't drop out before game is over, if you get stomped, next match will typically be against lower skilled foes. I think too many people don't stick it out enough. They see a 6 stack, they go to orbit. They get down by 20 to 40 pts, they go to orbit. They can see that a mercy is probably inevitable, yeah you guessed it, they go to orbit. The only way to get better, is to play those who are better than you. I don't like to say, "get good," but sometimes, getting good is the only answer. And practicing, is not typically seen as a negative thing.

Should know when you sign up to pvp you’re liable to get your shit wrecked once and a while
-
Solo queue...i’ll happily wait 10 + mins
-
For real its the worst god dam multiplayer of any game.
-
After the first two minutes I'm gone, along with most other people.
-
Look no further than the current PVP sandbox team. Imagine not being an expert in a particular field but refusing to step aside for the sake of your game being the best it can be. It’s so gross how they ruined D1 PVP then continue to hold back D2 PVP. 🤮

As one whos solo'd luna howl i still agree with the op, matchmaking is shietty ass hell, and its annoyng... now at least in my case its become a cycle where i get a bunch of new players / thumbless people who cant aim vs sweat gods with a nf in a 6 stack or 4 stack.... meanwhile no one plays the objective and i need to save them from getting wiped.... im starting to deeply grow to hate this game as time goes on
-
I actually really enjoyed d1's pvp...d2's pvp is fun as well. After taking a few months off ive came back and had endless games of super insta kills/mowed down by heavy. Super frustrating... Can handle dying in pvp but so many deaths feel heaps cheap.
-
3 RepliesI heard it’s only annoying if you are bad at it. Just like every other game.
-
I run into the same ppl over and over in comp. Hell I run into the same ppl on my friends list
-
Starting to work on pvp triumphs because I have nothing left. To me it’s miserable to play, so much so that I move one step closer to saying I’m done all together. Half the game isn’t even fun anymore to me. (I have a lot of hours to just throw away) Not that any of this matters to any of you, just hate how the game has ended up. I think I stick around just because the gaming world as a whole isn’t that great atm

1 ReplyActivate super while surrounded in D1, you die because you made a bad play and armor doesn't mean shit. You have to conserve special and heavy ammo. You die, it's gone. No tracking rounds except for rockets Activate super in D2 while surrounded, you team wipe your enemies because who gives a shit about bad plays, you have insane amounts of armor lol. You have tracking rounds on half the weapons in the game. Who aims anymore? Special and heavy ammo spawn like crazy = need I say more? I think it's safe to say that Bungie doesn't take PvP too seriously which is a good thing. Hopefully they'll take the hint from Anthem, let PvP die it's slow painful death, and focus on PvE content
-
2 RepliesIt is this way because Bungie wants it this way. They have the ability to change it, and simply do not choose to do so. The only way to get it changed is to force them to play the Crucible for hours on end every single workday, without Bungie induced enhancements. Or, if you can get to Washington State, show them the wrong end of a baseball bat. Do you get that it will take something drastic to get it changed?

5 RepliesI actually spawned in between 3 people yesterday. I was quite annoyed. There's no excuse for that. I also want Aim Assist/ Bullet Magnetism gone for PC players. It has NO PLACE in a mouse and keyboard setting. If you can't hit your shots, you shouldn't be rewarded. Simple as that. If you disagree with me, it is likely that all you can use is Luna's Howl / Not Forgotten and a shotgun. Which means that you are actually shit at this game. You literally NEED aim assist, BETTER weapons than your opponents, and a cheesy shotgun because god forbid you aim, or fight with a skill weapon. If you think I'm screaming for Luna's / NF ners, you're wrong. I want my weapons to be useable at range against these PISTOLS. I want my long range weapons to be effective against literal short range weapons that still outclass scout/snipers because of various factors.

My main issue is the matchmaking. I can hardly ever find a match that is actually pretty balanced in terms of skill. It is either super try hards, or it is a bunch of clueless newbies. I am also really irritated that Control is in a playlist with Clash. Those are two very different game types. One actually has an objective and the other simply requires kills. Whenever Control comes up, hardly anyone plays the objective. The point of control is to not only capture the zones but TO KEEP THE ZONES too. If your team cannot keep the zones, the spawns will constantly flip. Since control matches try to spawn you near a zone, you will be consistently spawn killed. Needless to say, Crucible has issues.

3 RepliesDestiny PvP isn't based on skill. It's based on which gamer is willing to grind away their lives the most in order to receive OP weapons to use and dominate noobs.
-
Let's not forget Bungie's marvellous "Hybrid Server" system, which is basically Peer to Peer. If they had dedicated host servers, many issues would just disappear. Like bad spawns because lag makes it seem like a location is open, when in fact enemies are already there. Repeatedly hitting enemies in the head with "precision shots" only to have them turn around and one shot you with an AR at range. And with falling populations, they have to increase the search distance for 6v6 and that exacerbates the Peer to Peer lag issue further.

The existence of PvP in Destiny 2 is terrible and needs to disappear. There are way too many items that are tied to PvP, even if people want to use them in PvE they are forced to grind in PvP anyway. Almost every other game with both PvE and PvE either keeps PvE and PvP progression mechanics completely separate or allows all relevant gear upgrades to be earned through any game mode. PvP in Destiny 2 is mechanically inferior and terrible compared to almost anything else out there, even extremely old/outdated stuff like the original Unreal from the late 1990's. Double-tap to twitch-dodge, extremely twitch-responsive general movement controls, and dodgeable projectiles instead of hitscan everything already add numerous layers of skill and complexity Destiny 2 can't touch. OHKOs and similar happen way too quickly in Destiny 2 PvP. Highlights from today's Crucible experience: Getting farmed by Telesto which offers no way to reliably dodge or avoid it. Supposedly the AoEs have no range falloff so you can't keep them at range similar to how you would counter a shotgun. Randomly running into someone with a hoard of heavy ammo and grenade launcher several times in a row, all of which are an OHKO with no opportunity to counter it. Controls aren't quick or responsive enough to support twitch-dodging or evasive maneuvers and abilities don't recharge or activate quickly enough to counter OHKOs. Enemy players with a suspicious ability to instantly and perfectly lock on to you (humanly impossible 0.1-0.2 second reaction time) with a shotgun, sliding and firing all at the same time, then rinse-and-repeating perfectly each time it happens. No human has that type of reflexes - the only logical conclusion is that the instant lock-on and reaction isn't being done by a human. This happens WAY too often and Bungie needs to get serious about stopping it. Enemy players with suspiciously perfect accuracy (impossible for a human given how small the characters are to aim at), always able to make a beeline for precision shots at any range with any weapon no matter how quickly or unpredictably you are moving. This even happened in close range against a weapon type known for extremely poor hipfire accuracy; aiming down the sights at such a close range would require a human to swing the mouse around wildly on the table, likely missing a lot or throwing the mouse clear off the table. The only logical conclusion is that the "perfect aiming" isn't being done by a human. Again, this happens WAY too often, it's RUINING crucible, and Bungie needs to address it immediately. Getting shot through cover (no line-of-sight from attacker). Aiming-down-sights on a shotgun in close range, clicking when enemy is right in the middle of the screen, and only doing a third of the total health bar in damage. tl;dr; Destiny 2 PvP walks into a bar. There is no counter. All the bar stools fall over because there is no balance. Whenever someone complains, the bartender says "Working as intended". Here's hoping Anthem kicks Destiny 2 in the behind right out of the gate, forcing Bungie to scramble and improve. They have the latitude to do that after splitting away from Activision. Healthy competition is good for the economy and good for the consumer.

1 ReplyBecause the PvP in Destiny has, and will likely continue to be an afterthought. It should never be taken seriously, and it baffles me that people do take it seriously.
-
1 ReplyEdited by BloodS1ay3r: 1/18/2019 7:02:18 AMIts because there is no real balance. Not everyone spawns with the same weapons, or having weapons on the map to pick up. But the game was never intended to be like that. If that is too much of a hurdle for you, I would just avoid PvP like the plague. Thats what I do!

Its a dumpster

7 RepliesDestiny crucible has always been a laughing stock level joke of a PvP experience. The closest it got to a competition of gunskill was D2 year 1, and the COD kid converts in the community spent the year asking for the no talent one shots back- because, god forbid their K/D be a quantification of their ability to aim and shoot with efficacy.
