Please remove Enhancement Cores for infusion with this upcoming patch. There is a negative impact on community with this.

I am loving this game and played daily for more than 40 days, from 2-6 hours daily. My hunter reached 650 recently, I love to get my other guardians to this level but knowing that I need tons of cores to use weapons and armors I like is stopping me. I have no problem grinding, I did it before and I am doing it. But grinds comes from playing but Cores are rare and masterworking already needs a good bunch. I posted on Reddit, it was removed as it was mentioned a lot of times, Forbes, other sites mentioned this, every day it was mentioned here and you claim you listen to feedback. This is very negative to keep guardians from using weapons and armors they like. When D2 went free on Battlenet, me and gaming Friends and their friends joined D2, many of us liked it and got Forsaken. This infusion cost is an issue for everyone. So, pull your socks up and patch it. OP, I think after reading all those "insightful" comments below I can explain what you are missing. Its not about enjoying yourself as you play Destiny 2, nonononono not at all! This is about micro-managing your inventory, praying for an influx of necessary stocks while climbing the power ladder! Destiny 2 is a *business* sim, not a shooter, looters. Why else would they have had such a huge brain dart after Destiny 1 post TTK or even Destiny 2 post Vanilla. Because this grind is just mindlessly stupid and contrary to all the defender monkeys it makes zero sense.

  • Down to 70-80 from 120. Would've loved to masterwork.

A lot of fools defending the terrible economy had stockpiled masterwork cores in Y1 when they were easier to obtain. I had a few hundreds too, but it doesn’t stop me from seeing that requiring a significant amount of cores for infusion AND masterworking is just a shitty system, and I have not masterworked a single piece of gear since Forsaken as I never know if I really want to keep them if I get a better roll on them, and the garbage game design doesn’t allow you to infuse the masterworked version of the gear with the non-masterworked one to save cores & keep the masterwork/kill count, and the kill count should display both the crucible AND vanguard kills at the same time, with any masterworked version of the gun, like many have asked since Y1 but were ignored like countless others by incompetent, greedy Bungie.

  • Bumpedy bump bump. People will say getting cores is easy. Which to a certain degree is true. But it's not fun. Hunting the hvts gets boring fast. Doing the scrapper bounties are boring. Every way to get the cores are boring. Plus you the masterwork system that takes up so many God damn cores to the point where I dont want to fully masterwork a weapon or an armor piece because I won't have enough to infuse some legendary drops I get (non powerful gear drops). Its a lot like the current state of planetary vendors. Nobody wants to rank them up because all they take are materials but those are used for infusing and are very expensive. If bungie wants to keep this system in place, offer 5 cores each from different weekly activities and add more daily ways to get them. That still wont fix the problem but it will help it.

  • I have favorite weapon my trigger spite but I can't keep it up to date with my hunter now it floats a round my characters. This is one of the only aspects that is driving me away from the game to another better game.

  • I remember the grind for one of the best Destiny weapons of all time: Fatebringer Did not require “Cores” to level up. A few resources, yes, but was practical out of the box.

  • I understand why they tried it. But by now we all know it's a failed experiment. Much like the many other upgrade materials we no longer use from old D1 days. Time to move on.

    • I will always bump and upvote this topic. Cores for Infusion needs to go. It's always funny as hell watching people defend this system. They are literally telling me, "My leisure time isn't valuable and I like investing effort in something that should be effortless." No, I "don't need to learn how to manage my resources better" in a looter shooter. That's why we have Survival Games. No, people like MEANINGFUL grind. For god rolls and weapon perks and weapon sets, to perfect their Guardians over time. Anyone who defends grinding merely for the sake of grinding may want to consider what they want out of life. No, the simple act of Infusion does not need FOUR CURRENCIES to pull off. Infusion was just fine before Forsaken. No one not named Gothalion ever looked at Infusion and said, "You know what? I wish this was more of a chore."

      • I don’t care how readily available they are. I don’t care if some players have hundreds of them so they see. O problem. I don’t care if hardcore players are scared of having them removed from infusion because someone else might have a thing. They never belonged in the infusion equation and Bungie changed their name rather than acknowledge that. Gamers, man. Pick a senseless mechanic or pointless obstacle, and a legion of people will crawl naked across broken glass to defend it.

i know it's easier to acquire MasterCores than it used to be a couple months ago, but is still annoying as hell to have that material as part of the infusion system

People will say getting cores is easy, play like me, etc. Well thanks for pointing out how it's not a pain point for you and how you don't have trouble with it, I had quite a bit of cores before BA(105) but that's all gone and I don't even have half that, and recollecting them. "Why do you infuse constantly?" one might ask, I'll tell you why, I got traction on my Warlock boots, with a choice of special and heavy ammo finder, same with my gloves but with pulse rifle loader and hand cannon loader because I like to use those two weapons a lot(Blast Furnace/Midnight Coup, or the Orchid.) And my helmet has machine gun reserves with heavy lifting, and ashes to assets, and I know how nade spammy warlocks are, do you really think I'd swap over to make my warlock build worse just to increase my LL? No, I want to use the gear I grinded for, the build I have, not be mediocre and not care for perks. Do you really think I'd use something like a sidearm over my iKELOs shotgun to make overall efficiency and damage weaker? No. Would I use a sidearm in the kinetic slot over my Blast Furnace? Again, no. Cores are easy yes, but that does not, and will not change the fact that they simply do not belong in infusion. Infusion costs are fine as is without Masterwork cores, Masterwork cores should only be used for masterworking, or if you want to make a certain perk enhanced(I.E Enhanced Pulse Rifle Loader, Enhanced Ashes to Assets, etc) You can use say, 25 or 50(Depending how strong the perk is at enhanced) cores to make it Enhanced. Can you imagine trying to play D3 and infuse your gear with masterwork cores still being a part of infusion in Y3? Your overall tune on it would change I bet cause you wouldn't have any to begin with.

I'm a new player, been playing around 2 weeks and have got up to around 550 power. While leveling up I wasn't getting many of the cores so it seemed pretty obvious to me that I should save them for later. As such I didn't infuse anything and at this point still haven't. At no point did I feel like I had major issues or that my weapons were holding me back. I have a bit of a stock pile now but will probably wait till I'm around the 600 mark to infuse my favourite weapon (have a 530ish pulse rifle with decent traits). If I managed to figure out not to spend them on rubbish, when I had no idea what I was doing, then surely it's reasonably obvious? It's like any MMO I've played, save your materials till end game rather than blowing it early on and not having enough later. Granted it's quite plausible that it's a bigger issue once you get into the 600s but I've not had any issues yet.

          • The cores aren’t that rare. Just play with gear you don’t want til you’re ready to infuse the stuff you want.

          • Anyone short on cores doesn't understand how to infuse properly. You only need to infuse two times max from 600 to 650. Anything more than two is just a waste of cores since it doesn't change your light level enough to impact any content in the game.

              • So you want to make the grind casual based again, after everyone was screaming up it was too easy, you all need to make up your minds and stop messing around. This is the sole reason why content and patches takes longer to come out.

                • People don't seem to understand that gear drops at high light even if you don't have your highest stuff equipped. For example you get a 645 sidearm in your kinetic, and your favorite gun is a God roll go figure, but it's only at 639, guess what? You can still use you're go figure! The game drops powerful rewards with the gear in your inventory not the gear that's equipped. So the next drop will take the 645 sidearm into consideration as the highest power level. By now most people are strong enough to do all pve activities anyway, even if you're not at 650. Ya'll just like to infuse for no reason and waste legendary resources when you should be saving them for the next content drop and power level raise .
simplification like this is how we got vanilla d2.
• Although I agree with the whole infusion debacle atm and think enhancement cores should be either scrapped for infusion or reduced (eg only use 5 at level 10 to masterwork), I have all 3 character's at 650 a full time job a relationship and other hobbies yet I sit on 80+ cores..... they're annoying but not hard to come by.
