Destiny 2 has the absolute WORST plot in the history of FPS and I can prove it.

Lets set the stage, its the future, some magical near god-like entity named "The Traveler" enters the solar system and begins terraforming planets and moons. Sparking the Golden age of humanity and allowing us as a species, to spread to every habitable celestial body from Mars to quit possibly Neptune. Then comes the darkness. Which in D2 is NEVER spoken of? Not once in all of Destiny 2 is it even mentioned yet in D1 it was THE BIG BAD! Destiny 2 totally glosses over the existence of this "Darkness" that was set up as the most important and powerful adversaries we could ever face. And I'm not supposed to be like WTF Bungie? Even with as spares as the plotting was in D1, it still seems to make everything we fought feel like a worthless bug compared to the possible threat still to come only for that entire line of plotting to be forgotten in favor of "protecting the last sliver of light". The entire plot of every mission, DLC, ... the everything of EVERYTHING in D2 feels likes its a half-assed attempt to make you feel like your in a desperate race against the clock to save the traveler from the Cabal ... Speaking of the Cabal ... Someone explain to me how in the 9 hells I'm somehow supposed to believe an armada of space rhinos penetrates to the core of the solar system to the point of literally knocking on the front door of an army of super-powered immortal undead space warriors without a single mother -blam!-er on any of the damn near 300 celestial bodies from Pluto to Mars being like "Oh -blam!-, what dat?" and sending a warning. Or better yet, to give the benefit of the doubt, why didn't anyone AT mission control go "Umm guys the satellites aren't responding." Oh, wait they did ... legit like 8 seconds BEFORE the cabal came knocking asking if we've heard of their lord and savior. Then when the shit hits the fan the vanguards most elite warriors send one person to face this threat. So naturally crap goes wrong and we're left holding our balls after being neutered by Roman-isk space rhinos who've brought a machine that seals up the Travelers "light". which brings me to my third WTF moment. How did the Cabal even know how to build a machine that could even "seal" the Travelers light? And did no one else question the fact that even when we killed Gal, the shield that we're supposed to assume is whats sealing the light away, still hadn't fully covered the Traveler? So like what, if we go around to the back, would we have had our powers back? Also, the Cabal can build a Traveler Nullifier but can't figure out a way to track light signatures ( IE, Guardians) because we all know it was bullllllll crap those Cabal portals didn't spot us the SECOND we stood up and started shuffling down the rubble towards the river. You know what, -blam!- all that I think the biggest question we've all asked, that NO ONE overlooked, is how the F U C K! did Gal kicking us off a space ship clearly WAYYYYYYYY the hell over the city NOT KILL US ON IMPACT WITH THE GROUND WHEN I CAN'T EVEN JUMP OFF A 3 FEET LEDGE AND SURVIVE? (we've all been there. ) And that's all in the first 2 cinematics, we've not EVER gotten into the actual game yet ....

  • to be fair, the main bad of vanilla d2 were the cabal, who aren't necessarily minions of darkness, just conquerors. guardians were a bit preoccupied with space rhinos knocking on their door than the darkness that'll come kill us all later
