In the grand scheme of things, Red Legion operations in their Nessus sect doesn’t seem all to out of the ordinary, with basic reconnaissance and normal armed presence being their norm on the Centaur. Based on Cabal centered Strikes that take place on the planetoid, it seems that their operation there is research base, with the Inverted Spire involving them cracking open Nessus to extract a Vex Mind to research, or the Insight Terminus centered around them trying to get into the Vex Network to use for their own means. Their forces seem to stay near the left most side of the map, ignoring a majority of the Exodus Black crash site, hinting that regardless of what they could possibly learn there, their orders are likely only focused on the Vex presence on Nessus.
Its hard to know exactly how a Cabal soldier is expected to handle their field orders, but I’d say its safe to assume that if they’re not ordered to investigate something, then they likely don’t give a damn. Unlike the Fallen, who are widely unorganized and scavenge through every spec of scrap in Sol looking for anything of value, Cabal are uniform. The average foot soldier will rely on those higher in their chain of command to handle the details on their operation, so if they’re ordered to infiltrate the Vex Network on some random Centaur, then who cares if there’s ship wreckage a klick over? It isn’t apart of your orders, so you don’t have to think about it, which is probably why the Cabal leave Failsafe alone for the most part.
The reason I bring all this up is because, as many of you know, the Exodus project began collaborating with Clovis Bray some time during the Golden Age, equipping their ships with sufficient amounts of SIVA to jump-start their passenger’s colonies once they arrived at their destination. Now I doubt I’d have to explain how potentially devastating another outbreak of SIVA would be for the Last City in their compromised state, but the Red Legion getting their grubby hands on this nanotechnology is the worst case scenario for it’s return.
There’s no doubt that the Red Legion’s pet Psions could produce a much more adept and lethal method for using SIVA than the Splicers ever could, militarizing its integration into their ranks. Normal Cabal armour and weaponry would be supercharged, their Base building would be streamlines even more than it already is, everything related to air superiority from their Warships to their AA guns would become exponentially deadlier. Their weaponsmiths would likely crank out some absolute monsters, making Bracus Zahn’s flame turrets look like water pistols. There’s also the prospect of them not only reviving their High Ranking Officials that died during the Red War, but restoring some of their major super weapons, like the Almighty. All in all, not a fun time for the Lightbearers.
But, so long as the Cabal’s campaign on Nessus stays focused on the Vex, they won’t have any reason to go sniffing around the Exodus Black’s remains. Problem averted, right? Unfortunately, the Red Legion actually have a few thinkers within their ranks. If a clever Psion or two starts thinking they might be able to find something interesting in that old earth ship wreckage just across the ridge, then they’d likely make a request to their Primus to sanction an expedition to the crash site. I’d imagine it’d only be a matter of time before they find what’s hidden within. Great Machine will it that none of those swollen brains gets any ideas.

The Cabal could already have SIVA however. In D1, when we first get the information about SIVA on Mars, the Cabal are literally sitting on top of it. Considering the Flayers, it would not be a stretch to consider that the Flayers got the info and sent it to Cabal high command

Did someone come through and just dislike every comment on this post?
?????
<Not to mention that Psions are smarter than the Splicers. They'd find the full power of SIVA in moments. That's enough to make a whole new fleet.>

1 ReplyNessus is probably the worst place in Sol to have a Siva outbreak, hell I'd rather the Dreadnought get a taste before anything on Nessus does. Also, your posts are incredibly well written. I don't mean to be that guy and start giving recombinations on the next topic, but I'd really like to see how you would analyze the current state of the cabal in Sol. Considering how they lost not only the dominus but also their elected Primus in a less then 2 year's, I have to imagine it's pretty chaotic up in command right now Regardless, extremely well done as always

3 Repliesholy shit, i found a front page that wasnt about people complaining about DLCs and addons, this is some new territory boys!

Remember those mentions of Otzot in the Insight Terminus. I think they would have know about SIVA from their activity in Meridian Bay. If anyone’s leading them it has to be someone who knows what they are doing. Prime suspect: Otzot

I hate you....literally can't shake the image of peg legged psions or centurions firing enhanced siva weapons at us, as if the scorpio turrets were bad enough in gambit....

1 ReplySince I’m seeing a lot of “I would love to see” posts I’ll make one also. I would love if Bungie circled back around to things left hanging in the universe they made. We killed the Red Legion’s commanders. All of them and yet they’re still just hanging around. I understand that you can’t remove them from the game bc of well the mechanics, but we wiped out their leadership and that’s all we hear from them. The lore to actual gameplay combo is ridiculously bad. What happened to SIVA? Why can’t we access past locations? Bungie built this rich universe, but they just are so lazy with the story. It makes me sad. They should hire you; I’d pay for good story content like this post.

6 RepliesI would be way more worried about the vex getting their hands on Siva. Could you imagine radiolarian fluid infused with that stuff?

5 RepliesI’d love to incinerate that base so something like that never happens in the first place.
