I kinda understand where Raid noobs are coming from...

reason as mentioned above

other (describe the reason)

I wanted to do the Scourge of the past raid for the first time and assumed, that it should be pretty easy for me to get into a raid group, considering that I'm almost max light, have done every raid in Destiny and Destiny 2 with the exception of the spire of stars, and that I have been getting into a raid relatively easy up until now. which got me thinking that if as a raid veteran it seems so impossible to find a team for this raid (I mention that it is my first time in this particular raid), then how impossible does it have to be for a complete raid noob to get a team. And since I always told complaining raid noobs to create their own post, I created my own post and I quickly realized no one wanted to join my raid group. So that didn't seem to be a valuable solution. However, matchmaking won't be a solution either. It would just turn raids into a absolute nightmare. I would love for more people to raid, simply because that would mean we'd have a bigger pool to select the right people for your raid team, decreasing the time it takes to find a team. So now my question is to raid noobs. Why have you not raided before? Is it because of the reason mentioned above or because of something else?

  • To me, both parties are guilty in some way of creating this elitist raid culture. I'm by no means a raid veteran, but neither am I a total noob and have been able to raid with some of the best of them without them even realizing it's my first time through a raid. I've been there though. I don't have the experience to lead my own raids smoothly and at the same time I feel other leaders are getting ridiculous/unreasonable with their expectations of other players. Leaders/Veterans, my suggestion is to ease up. Understand that not every other player will be up to your level but also that it doesn't have to be that way so long as your willing to be patient and teach others "the way" and of course be approachable. Newer players will be more receptive to you and long term, you'll have a larger pool of capable raiders to run with and improve the community overall. Newer players, my suggestion is to understand your limits and be honest about it. There are times where you need to let other people know that you don't understand so-and-so mechanic and it doesn't help you or your raid team for you to fumble and fail through it a dozen times when you could do it right the first or second time after asking about it. It's one thing to be ignorant about some aspect of the game, it's another to be obstinate and willfully ignorant of it. It wastes everyone's time and frankly it's rude. There are resources and guides out there to help you prepare and be an overall more effective player, take advantage of those and be open to becoming a better player.
