D2 isn’t the problem - it’s the D2 community at large

Whether it’s raid groups, forge runs or competitive PVP, the recurring problem with Destiny 2 is the general attitude of the community. I look for fireteams and the requirements are “have 10+ clears, kwtd, have the best this and that”. Where is the community spirit in helping new and old players alike? Personally, I’m a veteran Destiny 1 player that eagerly picked up D2 at launch. I’ve seen through the crap of the game, bought the lack lustre DLC and stuck with the game. Why? Because I love Destiny, the fun and the challenge despite the rough patches the franchise has gone through. However, the recurring reason I keep logging out of the game isn’t because I’ve lost interest in it, don’t enjoy it or feel (truthfully) ripped off by every DLC until forsaken. It’s because this community by and large sucks in their attitude at helping others achieve a common goal. I cleared every raid D1 had to offer, got every exotic beat every NF etc. I remember when Vault Of Glass was considered difficult and I struggled with the mechanics. What got me through? Patient and accepting players who had a passion for the game just like me, who wanted to help others and feel a sense of personal achievement. It was the same for the first raid sherpa I did on King’s Fall, a fantastic feeling getting 5 new players to the end of that one.. Back to D2. I’ve only completed leviathan a handful of times, have never tried either raid lairs or any prestige. Why? Not because I need to ‘git gud’ or can’t do them but because nearly every fireteam I search for has ridiculously high standards. Don’t get me wrong, I fully understand people wanting capable players that won’t hold the team back, who want a smooth quick experience in all activities - there definitely IS a line between ‘carrying’ and helping a capable yet inexperienced player. Where are the days of community spirit and togetherness? I haven’t even attempted last wish despite me knowing I’m more than capable of smashing it, mainly through fear of not measuring up to these “have 50,000 clears” kind of teams. I love Destiny but bugger me, I hate what the community has become. I’ve met some great random people along the way, teams that are open and accepting of different experience levels and are happy to teach as long as people tell the truth about what they know and don’t know. And I think that is VERY important. Don’t lie about what you have and haven’t done, it wastes everyone’s time and spreads more distrust through the community. I miss having the confidence to join any team for any activity, knowing we’ll collectively get whatever we’re doing done! Not by having the best weapons and load outs by requirement, but by working together and showing respect to each other. BRING BACK THE TOGETHERNESS OF THIS GAME. STOP DEMANDING MONEY FOR SO CALLED CARRIES AND JUST GET BACK TO WHAT DESTINY IS ACTUALLY ABOUT - T E A M P L A Y EDIT - Thanks for everyone’s input on my post. I honestly expected a tumbleweed situation.. To the people mentioning guides and carries. I don’t need a guide, or a carry. The intention of my post was simply to point out that no one should have to request a carry. We should all be working together to get things done. When I know things others don’t I teach. When I know a simpler or better way of doing something I mention it. The fact that carries even exist is a smack in the face, more so when they’re thrown on lfg as a paid service. Destiny is a team game. It isn’t a ‘pay me five bucks and I’ll get you through this’ game.
