You're forgetting a few key factors.
Nova Warp is on a cluster where all ability kills heal you. That includes warp kills. Nova Warp is the 2nd fastest moving ability in the game, the first being Daybreak. If you somehow manage to suck and miss your Blade Barrage, that's it. Sucks to be you. If you manage to suck and miss your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, Nova Warp explosion, that's okay. Keep trying. You're also looking at a cluster with the most oppressive melee ability in the game. (Sends people flying so that their aim is now thrown off and they can't effectively go for a trade. It turns a 100% trade into a 50/50 at best.
I'm not saying Blade Barrage is balanced, but I am saying that Nova Warp, or Attunement of Fission as a whole has significantly more advantages. Hell, Voidwalkers in general have nothing to complain about, it's not like Bungie knows how to properly nerf Warlocks anyway.

Let's not forget about the handheld supernova. I've literally gotten triple ohk's with a single one, the only thing a hunter has in it's arsenal with that kind of kill potential is a super.
-
If nova warp was so amazing hunter wouldn't be the main class to run. I'm sorry nova is powerful but if there is a bb up ill hold my ward because its to easily shutdown. Not to mention getting half a super or more back plus the fact that hunter movement is actually faster than i can my controls and not cause of me but the fact that 10 sensitivity and i can't keep up with character movement
-
And you're comparing BB to nova warp... apples and oranges. Compare NW to another roaming super. Compare BB to titan missile or nova bomb. When you look at it that way (roaming v roaming and 1 time v 1 time) both stand at the head of the class, far and away the best options.
-
Lol when you do that it makes blade barrage look even more op you realize? Not very good at defending it.
-
Im not defending either of them. Both are the best of their respective peers
-
LMAO!!!! Bungie killed Nova Bombs
-
I'm talking about from patch to patch, not game to game. Even I miss D1 Nova Bomb.
-
Those are fair points, I forget about the healing, I usually get juked pretty good playing NW now. As for the melee, I agree with what you say however the odds of getting close enough to melee someone are pretty damn low, odds are there's a special weapon pointed at you. On the off chance you walk around a corner and somehow don't get shotgunned however, you're right that the melee will probably win you the fight or at least end in a trade. There's a few conditions to be met there though :p
-
It just depends on how you play your corners. A good portion of my kills are still melee based, and with Fission and Karnsteins, I'm always at full health if that happens. But hey, I'm not saying Blade Barrage couldn't use a small nerf or two. It really could. I just know that it shouldn't be compared to Nova.

Edited by cycofreak3: 12/28/2018 3:03:37 PMThat's also fair. Can't compare a roaming super to a shutdown super I guess. Though I'm still sticking to my guns about the fact that GG was and is a fine shutdown super and that BB didn't need to fill that role.
-
Definitely. Blade Barrage fills the role of AoE super. Gunslingers were the only ones without any real crowd control.
