Before you read, I want to explain some things:
These are only ideas-- Whether or not Bungie decides to implement them is a mystery to me. The reason why I am making these ideas is partly because of the state of PvP and Gambit matchmaking right now; mostly because giving players more freedom of choice when it comes to matchmaking can make it less annoying and more comfortable. I am aware that some of these ideas I make will be agreed upon, or disagreed upon, by everyone reading this post right now. As a result, I am willing to take any non-salty feedback, or suggestions to how these ideas can be changed.
Enough talk. This is where the fun begins:
-When a room is ready to start, players get to vote on the map they want to play on, and a random player's choice will be selected
-Players can toggle Rank-based Matchmaking on or off
-Ranking will be leaderboard-like, allowing players to try to climb all the way up, and fight for the very top
-(Updated) When you're in the Top 8% of ranking, matchmaking will only match you against the Top 8% players, separating you from everyone below
-Players can now select their ideal gamemode, and the game will randomly pick one player's choice to determine which gamemode will be played. As more players pick one particular gamemode, the chance of it being played increases by a good amount. Ideal gamemode can also be set to Random, in case if you have trouble picking one
-Players can also adjust matchmaking settings: Solo, or Any. Matchmaking settings will prioritize matching up with players who picked the same setting. Being in a Fireteam will lock your settings to "Any"
-"Breaking up teams to find a better match" now only happens if a team loses to a Mercy Rule twice in a row, or loses in general three times in a row
-Players with fewer members on their team than the enemy team get a slight increase to in-air accuracy and strafe speed
-Players who don't attack enemies for 1 minute will be kicked from the match, and teammates will lose less ranking upon loss
-(Credit to Zilong) mixtape-like matchmaking in which you can set the gamemodes you want to play (can pick more than one)
