so soon if you lag in pvp you get banned from pvp for two weeks so anyone in australia gets matched with anyone outside of australia and this happens all the time you get two weeks banned punishing players for bungies matchmaking system is stupid
i just don't get it who the hell thinks this is a good idea and before someone says JUST GET BETTER INTERNET! just so you no people in the AU internet is ranked lower then transylvania so we don't even have the option to get better internet until the NBN is installed all across the country in about 10 YEARS! wow i can't wait to get banned for something completely out of my control

2 RepliesOpt in/out on region matchmaking should be a thing TBH - so many games do it and it helps. That being said, you should have a minimum internet speed to be able to play online shooters - it might not be your fault where you live or what you can afford but it is your fault if you choose to play a game that requires good connections.

Just to have access to the character screen, let alone ANYTHING requires a connection. Having trouble in a strike/ NF high score? Ban that too Laggy raid? Ban that too Having trouble loading into the tower? Put a ban on that too See what’s left after the restrictions. Blessed this game is for being on 3 platforms

I can't wait for this. All the blinking stacks should hopefully be forced to do something about their garbage internet connection. Sadly they won't be able to share the same potato router anymore.

You interpreted that wrong. It’s only if you have a history of excessive lag. They know normal or occasional lag will always exist, and they aren’t banning for that -

18 RepliesWhile I sympathise with the fact Australia’s internet is only on par with some third world countries... I for one am sick of playing against ridiculous laggy connections...hence the reason I avoid crucible like the plague it is. If only they would put all the godly laggy players into the same godly matches...but bungie are not capable of doing this. Next best thing is ban them. Petition your government, change your leadership, make noise, failing to do these things means no change anytime soon.

3 RepliesThat sucks and even though its unfair to you its also unfair to others having you teleport across the map. I often get matchex with people from spain and italy and even though its hardly their fault sometimes i wish they just wouldnt play.

They need to put in connection consideration into PvP match making again. Also disable fireteams in quickplay

You can have the best Internet, but if there’s no one in your region to play with, you’ll be matched with players across the ocean, in which case, at least according to Einstein, you can’t go faster than the speed of light. I’ve measured bandwidth usage during play. At no time has Destiny ever required more than 56KB/440kb of bandwidth up/down. What matters more, is your ping to other players, the jitter or variation in ping, and your packet loss. Those things will be trash when you connect to players in other continents. I’d recommend you play during peak hours for your region to have the highest chance of matching players closer to you. Play wired, not WiFi. Use a good purchased modem and router, not what’s provided by your ISP. Use UPnP and set your console’s IP address near the end or outside the address range of IPs that are automatically assigned by DHCP. If multiple devices connect through the same router, use QoS to prioritize traffic to your gaming system, but set your max up/down speeds below what you can get maximum. If none of what I just said makes sense, you have bad Internet.

If you have decent internet then it won't matter, I play with Americans all the time from the UK and never have issues. Why should other people be affected because of people's 15 year old internet, P2P connections don't matter if everyone playing has half decent internet.

It's bs on their part! They won't even get dedicated servers and on top of that they gonna be banning players lol. Won't affect me anyway as I don't play this trash and on other pvp games I'm usually among the rare few who have a consistent ping of between 9-30

6 RepliesI can't wait. I'm on a 1Gb/s plan in NZ and get matched up with some lagging prat from AU in nearly every match. I have much cleaner matches with people from the West Coast of the US, so if we can filter out some of those 100kb/s AU connections, that's great. I'm excited, Bungie needed to do this a long time ago.

I would have liked to see an announcement for a better connection process on their part. Spend some of those microtransaction dollars on it maybe. Let’s see how this plays out.
