The initial story of the game, tells us that the game, TIME IS A LOOP, is why we are here.
Every DLC seems to unravel itself, either by completing it, or from the NEXT DLC.
The most Heinous of enemies, in the known and unknown universe, converge into our daily hikes, and then mysteriously have no interest in us, the moment some other threat shows up.
I understand that there are limitations of programming in spawn triggers and so forth, and that having an overlapping dialog and story line, requires TALENTED WRITERS... But it also requires that you have a fanbase of ADHD afflicted players, that fail to take their medication.
I understand the need to infuse the game with URGENCY, making the player feel as if failure to procure a certain weapon or armor piece, or ship, etc. will negatively affect the story, or the ability to enjoy the game.
These "artifacts" are actually inconsequential to the story, in most cases.
I'm sorry if I am taking the wind out the sails for people that are compelled to play a game that forces them to play by certain rules, so that they do not need to think for themselves.
I laugh, on a daily basis, when I play these strikes and missions, and hear dialog stating that the ONLY way to defeat the opposition, is to have some great weapon, or complete some enormous daunting quest.
The truth of the whole thing, is that you simply need to fight the same enemies over and over again, and cross your fingers that you get a POSITIVELY WEIGHTED LIGHT LEVEL REWARD, that you are currently lacking from your loadout.
No amount of enjoying the story, and figuring out the riddles, contributes to your ability to complete the story.
All you actually need to do is get your light level number to where you are the fat kid on the see-saw, and you win.
I have since, Killed XOL at least 200 times, using nothing more than the weapons I have equipped. I have killed Xol with a Chaperone. The whole reason for the entire DLC, was to convince Rasputin to let us use the Javelin. LOL. If I have used that thing 10 times in year 2, I would be surprised.
So everything that the story seems to point to, is actually more of a smokescreen, that the story doesn't follow the game at all. The only truth the game actually confirms during gameplay, is about characters that rarely show up in the actual game... as anything more than NAME DROPS, to make the person talking, sound like what they are speaking about, is actually important, or even remotely factual.
