I don't understand what is going on with Bungie right now and what they are trying to do. Trying to turn Destiny 2 into Fortnite in the way it progresses possibly? I don't get it. I don't think it is going to work. I wanted to buy Black Armory separately but then I found out I couldn't... Then I found out it's not really an "Expansion" and all of this doesn't make any sense too me. I'm not interested in buying a "Pass" for my new content. Maybe if ALL of this nonsense was free and they just put in more thought out micro-transactions or something...
I think they are trying to switch to the Fortnite business model but only half-baked. "Yeah we are going to try and just drop small things here and there like Fortnite now... Oh and we are going to charge for all this content, a year ahead of time." Literally we have to pay for whatever Black Armory is and all the others coming over the next year ALL AT ONCE, even though we have no idea what we are paying for and if it is going to be any good. And I don't think it is going to fly. Especially not with me. Especially since there is no "Story" really. It kinda sucks in my opinion. This ISN'T Fortnite and no one is going to care about this style of content release model in a game like Destiny 2.
They made a GOOD expansion in Forsaken. I think they should just go with that style of content drop. Big Expansions are much better for Destiny 2 than the Fortnite tweak a little thing here and there model. I would be okay with waiting longer between expansions for an amazingly good, large expansion. I just don't think Bungie knows what they are doing anymore because they've constantly hit the panic button and tried to change things to make people happy, way too many times.
This is the first time since the VERY BEGINNING, original Destiny Beta player here... And it is sad to say this but I AM NOT going to get the newest content... Which marks the first time I've had the ability to buy new Destiny content but have decided not too. The only way I MIGHT get it later is AFTER Penumbra drops and we get ALL of it's contents and then I judge the whole thing as good or bad. Then it MIGHT happen. But too many what if's in this style of content release model mixed with the fact that I've NEVER bought a Season Pass, whether from Destiny or Call of Duty means I will not be purchasing the Annual Pass.
(Also; if you just look at the price standpoint of it, I don't like where this is going... $35 is less than Forsaken was. Right? Wasn't Forsaken $40? I honestly don't remember. But even if it is the same price. It seems like the price is going to be an indication of how much content we might get. Possibly. Bungie could get cheap on us and only give us about a Curse of Osiris amount of content over the next year. But either way... That's really BAD if you think about it. A whole year with ONLY a maximum of content that might match Forsaken... Which we got all at once... Everyone would agree that Forsaken was worth the price probably. But to get the same amount of content spread out super thin over a whole year? No thank you. Not worth it.)

They want more money for less work. Because that's how "customer appreciation" works, I guess.

11 RepliesEdited by TheShadow-cali: 12/10/2018 3:30:02 PMIMO there are a few things hurting this game at this point. 1. The forge is the only new content 2. The vendors in this game have not been updated in months 3. Faction vendors were removed months ago that removed loot for the loot table 4. The RNG in this game is worse than D1 when it comes to exotics 5. Matchmaking for PvP and other related content is broken 6. It's interesting how easily they were able to add Matchmaking to the haunted forest and now the forge, but for 4 years now by request for nightfall has been ignored 7. The random rolls in this game are copy and paste. I've got 4 titians marks that were all the same with all the same perks, but, the perks names were put in different orders. Besides that? versus D1 there are far fewer perks, they just renamed them and used that as part of the added 2000 "new items" that is supposed to be in this game. 8. Scout rifles need a major buff in this game 9. The weapons Bungie created for forge don't worth a damn. Logic tells me if you create an event, the gear and weapons should work for that event. I'm lost when it comes to Bungie's Logic. 10. Cors being used for infusion. 10 to masterwork when we can't even upgrade the gear we would like to use. Bungie has this flawed logic of putting "better perks' on ugly gear. Oh, and that is not including the mass amount of issues in this game that has Not been fixed that I could literally make a Huge list that it's not funny at all. Bungie is so far behind that catching up will never be in sight. Now that I got my rant out of the way lol. The game does have some fun things about it and it's not hard to see so no need to give a list or you guys wouldn't still be playing the game. IMO Bungie needs to drop the streamers like a bad habit. Go back to making a game that was a hobby that gamers enjoyed. A game that was made for all, not hardcore gamers, not casual. A game that has something for everyone and IMO considering the issues D1 had. ROI was the best time in the game because there was something for Everyone.

I haven't seen a good Black Armory review yet. Not looking good for Bungie.

I'm ready for anthem to come out. I wasted money buying the annual pass. I left the game cause it sucked. Came back when forge came to try it, can't even play it cause I'm not high enough light level. Tried to play the dawning today. Can't even play it cause their servers suck. Somebody in bungie sold their soul just to put out a crap game. That's what you get for siding with the devil.

They were honest about the type of content Black Armory would be. So, there really isn’t much to complain about there. I DO agree that the level requirement to participate is bad. https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/47529 I wish 50% of the patch today wasn’t about money. I kinda wish the ability the ability to buy Black Armory was gated behind the light level required to play it.

Honestly I want a refund. Had someone asked why?

1 ReplyWhen The Division faltered and people started to leave, we received a free update that added masses of content that brought us back! Bungie are only interested in players spending money and not the experience. They listen and adapt for streamers and not the majority of players. This will be their downfall because there are games coming out that will drive us away and I for 1 will be leaving destiny behind when Division 2 and Anthem come out.

1 ReplyYes they are trying to cash in. Thd ammount of content will likely be less than half of forsaken. It drives away people and splits them even though i can still level up it just pisses me of that the 40 i paid for forsaken only lasted 3 months. We already have Eververse to milk money from suckers. But gg Bungie, a season pass that puts more content in eververse than the rest combined same as last year.

I think you have at least a little something with the Fortnite thing. It's a copy cat industry and it happens fast. Last year Pubg was huge. This year it finally hit PS4 basically unnoticed. Probably because two games copied it and do it and have better brand recognition (Battlefield V and COD BO4). Everyone is trying to be Fortnite rn. You'll see more similar titles in the next few years. The industry never seems to get that things like Fortnite are disruptive because they are innovative either in-game or the revenue model or maybe birth.

2 RepliesI completely agree. Well stated! I have pre-paid for all Destiny games and DLC. However; after BA, I will not pre-pay again. Some content in Destiny (1&2) I really love, while other content I have no interest in. This is the first time new content has launched that is either out of my reach (for at least several months), or of no interest to me.

1 ReplyPeople are entitled to their own opinion aside from the trolls like Orange7.... the annual pass is for the whole year and not just for the 2 forges and the raid but I agree we can only evaluate if the annual pass was worth the money when everything is released but I do have faith in Bungie they will deliver, especially after forsaken. They won't blow it twice. bungie maybe could have done a better job in setting expectations and us as a community on managing these. Both go hand in hand off course. personally, I like the gradual release of the content more than just to blow to 2-3 hours of story missions like warmind or whatever with new crucible maps and strikes. Last DLC I just stopped playing after 2-4 weeks I think just because there was nothing to do. the annual pass is OPTIONAL content. it's not like ur missing out on story missions, crucible maps, strikes. You do miss out on the forge and a raid but it's up to you whether or not you want want these. You still get the seasonal events like dawning, crimson days, ....

1 ReplyUntil it completely crashes and burns it's never going to be free, and with Activision's quarterly heavy monetization is bound to make this worse.
-
7 RepliesSo you would rather have a content drought for an entire year? Ok
-
6 RepliesNah it's fine. You guys are bored of forsaken already and it's only been a few months, imagine if nothing was coming until the summer of next year. You guys would be rioting
-
1 ReplyAnd yet we are all still here.... playing it...
-
Done both forges a few times boring very boring... but so is all horde modes after the first run... the carrots (guns/armour) are also very boring and meh... So apart from the raid thats it for the DLC all done... as I don't care to play the other two forges as Im bored of them already.... People justify this level of content by saying its only $12 but the old DLC/Expansions whatever was $20 and you got a new destination, patrol zone, story, strikes/nightfall, adventures, new activity, quests, loot and raid now all we get is the new activity, a quest, raid and less loot.... seems to me that Bungie have the better end of the deal they still get 70% the money and we get 80% less content...
-
1 ReplyThe Black Armory has set a new record for me. This represents the quickest that I have lost interest in the DLC EVER. Even faster than that terrible Summer Solstice. Heck, I can't even take part in the first quest, since I'm not powerful enough. LOL.

This ISN'T Fortnite and no one is going to care about this style of content release model in a game like Destiny 2. [/quote] REEEEEEEE! Okay lets first kill this idea they are trying to replicate fortnite somehow. They aren't. This is their version of how MMOs with subsription based content would expect of their playerbase to pay per month to play the game. Instead they ask for one up front payment for updates over a year. So its closer to an MMO than Fortnite of all things. Fortnite... you get skins and cosmetics with your pass. Destiny? You get an extended end game. The season pass is meant to expand Foresaken. So for 3 large updates with power increases it looks like each one costs around $10 in total. That seems reasonable to me as an MMO player that pays $15 a month for a decent amount of content updates during those months. We are getting 4 forges in total with weapons which is nice. The raid is actually really fun. Plus what is it 5 exotics? Not bad. Are there issues? Yes. Need a vendor update and they should look at updating old content to where people can "catch up" to the new content easier. That's fine but that doesn't make it horrible.

So accounting 101 If I pay 120 beans for the annual pass Bungo can only recognize 40 beans until they deliver the next "content" which they did and now they can recognize 30 more beans They did not earn 120 beans :) from that initial sale So they have to drop some type of content good bad indifferent or even some would say Osiris like

Is anybody else running 3 characters at high 500s and a bit discouraged that Black Armory forges are out of reach? Thanks. I guess it will keep.

The annual pass content is optional.

3 RepliesBungie is doing destiny 2 what they did with destiny 1. They made the taken king from D1Y2 and then in D1Y3, made rise of iron. No content in between years. Now they’re going to do the same thing except without the “content drought” in between years. So instead of forsaken, content drought, year 3 dlc, it’ll be forsaken, annual pass, year 3 dlc

And if you are wondering this is the original poster, SuperSirianRigel. I signed on to my old profile that I used in original Destiny so everyone could see the truth about me being a player that has played all the way from the Destiny Beta. I just changed profiles for Destiny 2 to an alternate profile because I didn't want "Dark" in my name anymore. lol.
