This game has no middle ground for normal people.

What is hapening is this game being too casual and too hardcore with absolutely no middle ground. People who can play for 2 hours on a Sunday come here and whine that they are 550 after 4 months because they don't have time to play - Bungie deliveres. People who play 16 hours a day 7 days in the week 365 days a year come here and whine there is nothing for the hardcore players - Bungie deliveres. And now what? We have a game that just gives you everything right away because of the first whiners and have literally unobtainable OP weapons because of the second whiners. And normal people that like to play games for fun and for letting some steam off after work - get bent. This is why D2 and Bungie fail every time. Not because ther is no content or because content is bad or anything. Because they do stuff only for the loudest whiners. Next week there will be nothing to do in the game ... again ... God I wish my friends start playing some other game. • I feel like I'm in the middle, which is probably why I feel like I'm getting dumped on right now, lol. I play a couple hours a day on most days. I only have time for 1 character and I don't raid, but I've always made it to max light and done most of everything outside of the raids. I've been 600 since the spoopy forest event, thanks in part to the spoopy Origin Story dropping at 600 (that was lit). I'm getting bent over real bad by rng yet again right now so I probably won't get to play any of the new Black Armory content until January. It's depressing watching any Destiny content on YouTube right now as it's all just a giant 1%er fest. Meanwhile my entire Destiny existence is centered on a chest drop I know won't come for weeks, lol.

  • Black Armory was the end for me. Another terrible start another terrible release another waste of money. I'm done with that repetitive cycle. I'm done with D2 not respecting the time and effort put in. The grind isnt fun, strikes are much lamer than D1, Gambit is either good or a mess, and crucible is trash. I've moved forward onto Warframe and later to Anthem. Destiny 2 to me just can't recover at this point.

I remember a time when games were played and just enjoyed. There were no forums. There were no screamers. There were just the games. And we all enjoyed them. Some we liked, some we didn't. I remember facing off against ganon for the first time in ocarina of time. I remember reaching the end of Super Mario RPG and realizing I didn't know how to beat culax I remember the fear I had playing breath of fire 2 and seeing the dreaded "eye" Why have we forgotten how to enjoy games instead of complaining about them? Why is it that you lot can't just play the game? Who cares how everyone else plays? Who cares whether you're at the highest level or not? Play at your pace. Why is that such a difficult concept for you lot to understand? Why do you spend more time criticizing rather than playing the game? I work, go to school, am seeing a girl, work out, and have a life outside my home. I don't have the time to sit and criticize. And when I play, I play what I enjoy. In destiny, sometimes it pve switching up load outs and playing around with things, finding secrets, killing stuff, going for catalysts. Sometimes it's pvp, pushing for luna (i got it btw), trying out off meta builds (found out recently that polaris lance is a beast) like scouts and auto rifles. Or, I might go play FFXIV and keep working on my relic. It's ok to be casual. It's ok to not be. Do you. And only do you. F*ck what anyone else says.

      • I'm not sure that I agree with the OP's definition of normal people. I play the game solo and managed to get all three characters to 600 prior to the Forge with 99% of my play in PvE (I avoid PvP because I don't find it enjoyable and that includes Gambit). I wasn't terribly surprised or frustrated by the Forge's grind and understood it as end-game content, so I'm focused on leveling up to a decent level before heading in there. I work 40+ hours a week and this game is my time to blow off steam along with just having fun. The key is simply to have fun, do your thing (whatever that may be), and adapt to any changes Bungie incorporates into the game to "balance" it....not that I agree with everything they choose to do but it is their game (like I don't agree with every decision my boss makes but I adapt and overcome).

        • Your complaint is exactly why Bungie developed the Annual Pass. They will slowly dribble out new content without 6+ month dead zones like they used to.

          • I’m sure I’m speaking to the choir here but hear me out. I have been going back and forth playing D1. What blows my mind in D1- The soft cap at the end of year 3 was 385 for blues/ 390 for legendaries and 400 for exotics/Nightfalls/Heroic Strikes/Raids or the rewards from factions. Why do we have such a low soft cap now? Before you could soft cap to 385 with blue gear and do nightfall/ heroic strikes and then work on getting better gear. And again, I’m sure I’m preaching to the choir here. *it seems like this would allow people who bought Black Armory to play the content they payed for a bit faster. This game has some cool gear but it’s all locked behind level gates and with them making you only pick some weapons and gear to master work. It doesn’t make it so you want to try other weapons out. Which is odd to me, why make garbage weapons for a game with this much invested? I digress..... I’m not saying Bungie needs to hand out 650 gear for doing 400 strikes But there needs to be a better middle ground. 🤔 anyway, In just thinking out loud - Have a Good day.

            • Agreed. D1 TTK was fantastic for me, but D2 has consistently missed the mark. At launch it was too casual oriented, ad Warmind was just bleak lack of content with too much parity. Forsaken was better, but still the economy of cores holds us back from creating different loadouts for different occasions like we had in D1. This new crop of game designers just don't get it. Just getting rid of cores for infusion would help some. At this point I just see a not too distant future where the Destiny franchise fails altogether. Eventually though someone will get the concept right, and whatever game that is will become the next WoW. And that's the saddest part. Destiny could have been WoW for the fps world...and that's why things like Black Armory get the playerbase so enraged. Potentially a multi-billion dollar franchise being driven into the ground by sheer laziness.

I started this game on Nov last year. It is more casual than hardcore. I can play it every Sat night for 2 hours and completed the Red War. But since Warmind and having joined the clan I am getting more hardcored : playing everynight before I start working and that is 3-4 hours each night and whole day in Sun . Been in these 2 extremes I must say it is unpleasant in being very bored or exhausted. Bored when this game has nothing to go and I was in max power level; exhausted when those unnecessary weapon grinding comes up. I want a game that is easy-going , with a some interesting challenges, decision-making quests, instead of being kept for grinding. This grinding concept has ruined the whole game, please stop it .

                      • It does... This game is perfect to wind down for me after work. Doing some bounties, do some Gambit, find some region chest, do an adventure, see if anybody is doing a Escelation Protocol... I can’t raid anymore like I used to in college, simply no time anymore. No endgame for me in general. But I think this game offers something for everybody. It feels very complete in that sense, but this is not a popular opinion.

The issue lies with the community, they want "balanced" gameplay but whats "balanced" changes from person to person. They want Pve and PvP content but dont see how favoring one affects the other. They just go with the motions and bungie keeps making changes to pacify them.

God I wish my friends start playing some other game.[/quote] First off ur full of it. I'm sure u dont do all that stuff u say u fo and still 0lay d2 cause u would be so far behind and piss off so many other hardcore players that actually grind this game. I personally dont care about ur lifestyle and what u do but dont lie in a post just to get recognized. I think ur a joke and a liar. People spend hours upon hours in a game and expect certain things its 2018 and games should be better than most are. Now it's just about taking ur money not about eating the die hard fanbase that a company has created. So yeah people do have a right to piss and moan, and yes it is always going to be too easy or too hard. This game came out in the beginning and bungie themselves said it was for casuals. Well the hardcore fanbase from d1 like myself expected much more. Then bungie turned things around but now it's for hardcore players not casuals. Everyone has an opinion but all are mostly relevant. But bungie cant make everyone happy. So either play the game or dont. And obviously u lied because u wrote that long ass post. YOU DONT FOOL ME. I put over 1500 hours into d2 and d1 I got bored not because their was nothing to do but I got bored of what was available and the glitches just the problems with the game that is my issue. Everytime bungie says they fixed something, something else goes wrong. Been that way since d1. Always will. I didnt purchase the annual pass cause I know better now and I have moved on from d1. I go back from time to time but its bores me. Bottom line opinions are like buttholes, everyone has em. Get use to it or stop following. Welcome to the future of gaming. WE WANT MORE. Triple a gaming company should offer that. Specially when smaller companies are doing and offering more for less.

                            • Hoping Bungie Reads this: I wouldn't be as harsh as this post, but I am having difficulty. Destiny 2 is definitely my favorite game, and I feel I'm certainly a loyal player/fan, but I just cant play super often (7 - 15 hours a week?). I feel that I am drowning in everybody else's light level, and can't participate with my friends or clan in the really fun activities (raid, black armory, etc) because I'm nowhere near the cap and probably won't be anytime soon. I had to take a break from Destiny 2 for almost the entire Forsaken season for personal reasons, and its incredible how punishing it is to take a break from this videogame. To lag behind so far without much hope of catching up soon, it feels bad. like, I love this game, but it doesn't love me lol. I just wish there was some way to participate in the best parts of this game wihout having no life for a month to be able to catch up. I'm not even concerned with getting top-tier loot or anything like that, I just want to participate.

Saturday and Sunday depending on what RL obligations I have, maybe 3-4 hours. I finish up with the weekly stuff by Thursday night/Friday. Not much to do after that but go after some quests. But then there are amazingly difficult things that I cannot obtain.

                                  • Overall it is the hardcores that play all day and start to whine about doing everything already that creates these issues of time gated quests and other things that take a long time. They end up completing everything too quickly because they have so much spare time to play.

                                  • I was fine with the exotic drop rate in season 1-2, even if I got a duplicate, it's not that big of a deal since getting them was easy. Maybe 1 from flashpoint and I was happy. I play 1-3 hours of it per week and if I'm in a good mood during weekend, I go visit papa Calus for that sweet gold shader. But, for right now, getting an exotic is like digging gold. You see one and you wish it's one of the new ones. Aaaand... AH SH** IT'S A DUPLICATE!!! Compared to the other seasons where you can get almost all of the exotics via RNG or back alley Xur with fated engram, Forsaken is the season of the forsaken exotic drought. No way to get a guaranteed exotic drop from activities (except quests). Hey, you guys asked for when an exotic dropped it should feel special. I felt pretty special getting my third nighthawk in a row that now I even have an ornament for it. How cute is that? I feel horde modes, strikes, crucible, iron banner and gambit is the middle ground for normal people. Raid, at this moment, is time intensive. I liked the raid lair because they were short. We could go for a fast run and get some good loot. The Leviathan, I ran it maybe 5-6 times across the entirety of season 1-2 and once prestige to get the gold shader. I only liked the papa Calus room. I ran it like 10 times since I like shooting my golden gun into his head. Haven't touch last wish even after reaching 600 because of how long and time consuming it seems. And I probably won't touch scourge of the past too. To me, a good raid isn't one that's long af or mechanic heavy. It only need simple mechanics and the whole team involved. I ran eater of world 6-7 times with randos and clan. Each time was fun. Everyone was contributing. There wasn't a need of stacking multiple buffs or debuff. Just get a empowering riff, pop supers, use heavy and vex head. That was it. long, time consuming and mechanics doesn't make a raid fun. Make it simple, easy to get and everyone involved. That's fun.

                                  • I 100% agree. After Forsaken, you cannot play this game in a moderate fashion and be rewarded for it. All the stuff worth getting is gated behind absurd amounts of grinding which no one with a life or even a part time job will be able to do. And the stuff that you get by just completing questlines is more useless than ever before.

                                  • Bungo bought out the streamers at their little summit and re-engineered the game for them and their no-lifer fans. I’m playing less - alot less - because the game has gone beyond what I’m prepared to put in anymore. I no-lifed D1 and have sunk alot of time in D2, but enough is enough. I’ll still play from time to time and check in here to make the occassional troll post, but no more no-lifing and no more being a whale. Bungo have probably done me a favour to be honest.

                                    • I'm a very normal player, i spend around 3hrs a day playing D2 on average and tbh i'm quite happy with the game atm. Obviously there are things i think need changing (i.e. the way you acquire braytech weapons and sleeper nodes, the radius of radar in pvp and other small things), but on the whole the game is enjoyable. Grindy, but not too much, always something to do, fun activities etc.
