People that are defending the state of this launch are basically saying that they think an arbitrary grind for a bigger number on a screen is “new content”. Because that is basically what we’re being made to believe, that the grind between 600 -625 (or whatever the recommended forge level is) is new content. If the new max cap was only 630 and all actual new content was doable now (albeit harder than attaining max level) would it be any less of an expansion? No. Or alternatively, if the new max cap was 800 and you had to grind for months to be able to play the new stuff, would you say that is more content than we’ve got right now? No you wouldn’t. Light level is just an arbitrary number that offers no inherent gameplay value. There is no point releasing new content if it’s not playable on release. Bungie may as well release all upcoming seasons’ content right now, increase the light level to something silly like 2000 and then power bracket all the different seasons’ content in order so that we can only play it at the time of year they intended - once we’ve grinded the old content as needed over time. Same principle.

  • Light level increase is available for all players. I don't think anyone is saying that is premium content.

  • If you’re looking for validation from a stranger then “well done” I guess. It doesn’t refute my argument and the arguments of many others though.

  • Telling someone to "Stop being a casual" in a game that literally tells people they can't level up any more that day or that week is an a lot like you, an Oxy-moron There is no "Hardcore" in Destiny and it amazes me that people need so desperately to feel superior to one another that they'll straight up lie to themselves to do so. If you want to be considered a "Hardcore" player, go play something like Final Fantasy XIV or World of Warcraft where the only thing that stops you from progressing all you want, getting stronger and preforming greater is how much time you are willing to put in yourself. Here in Destiny, I could play 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and the only difference in in where I am now and where I would be there is *maybe* half a Power Level more for each day. Try using your head instead of the inspirational quotes on the back of your can of Mountain Dew. You might learn a thing or two about... well. Using your brain.

  • Here's my excuse: I have a life. I have a wife. I have kids. I have a job. I have 3 different characters because I want to have fun with different abilities, rather than wanting to increase my light level as fast as possible and having 3 of the same type. Sadly, most of the clan I played raids with have given up with Destiny 2, and I only enjoy playing raids with friends - because that's what makes it fun for me. And I really don't like PvP in Destiny - probably because I'm rubbish at it, and I don't find repeated defeats fun. Don't tell me to "get good" - I "get good" at what is important in life (which is why people pay me rather well for doing my job). The key part of me playing Destiny is "fun". If I'm not having fun, I stop playing. I got to 600 (on all three characters) a few weeks ago after doing everything I like on all of them for a few weeks. By the end of it, there wasn't much I still 'liked'. I was quite keen to see the new content. I got to the Forge. I stopped playing. Maybe in a few weeks I'll think it is enjoyable to level up again just so I can play the new stuff. Maybe not. Did this DLC make me want to keep playing Destiny 2? No - it did the opposite.

As toxically -blam!- as Pure is being, if you've got too much of a life to keep up with the content, then move off the forums and find something else. Being a whiny dad on the forums of a video game is almost as sad as being toxic like Pure.

  • Well, this was my first post in quite a few years - I posted quite a few years back (Destiny 1 days), frequently defending Bungie and their content. I've reread my post: not sure why you think it is particularly whiny - ok, so I said I stopped liking doing the same things repeatedly, but apart from that... If there had been new content that could be played without having to play old stuff to access it, I would have been playing it (and probably enjoying it), as I have done with every Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 DLC up to this point. I even enjoyed CoO for a while. But, whatever. If you think I'm a whiny dad (whose being playing videos games of various sorts for 40 years) and that my opinion is worthless, that's fine by me. There are worse things I could be - and looking at the forums, I see that most of them are here.
