The premise:
From everything I’ve seen, played, and read raising the level cap but not the soft cap in the black armory is leading to slow level gain progression. This is deliberate design by Bungie. With the raid releasing in 2 days this is on my mind a lot.
History shows that having the highest light level possible will be an important barrier to clearing the raid.
I think that streamers have a few inherit advantages over other players which make the race for worlds first about as fake as the playtime in Forsaken.
I am worried that it’s really just a race for them not us.
I’m not saying that they haven’t earned these advantages over time with hard work, I’m just saying they exist and are significant.
1. They play the game as their full time job. They are paid to grind non-stop in preparation. They don’t have to balance work life and hobby.
2. They have a community full of players available to them 24/7 to help them accomplish anything they are working towards.
3. They are in constant communication with each other and in some cases Bungie devs to learn the most efficient and powerful ways to brute force their power level.
I think these “streamer perks” give them a inherent advantage over other players as far as the worlds first race is concerned.
The caveat:
I personally don’t have anything against people who stream as their full time job or their hobby/for fun. I don’t intend this to be a post where it’s encouraged to insult people who stream. I know some people will post funny jokes at their expense, and I look forward to reading those, but I’m not looking forward to comments that just attack them.
To me the responsibility lies with Bungie to create content that’s rewarding and accessible to players who don’t make playing Destiny their full time job.
The thing to keep in mind:
Redeem works very hard, and they are very talented. Seeing them win another words first wouldn’t be a huge surprise. I hope if they do it’s without controversy.
edit
This isn’t an entitlement thing. Worlds first used to be a community event in D1. The design of the game has changed since then, and now worlds first is a steamer thing. I want to know if people have the opinion that the design favors streamers or not.

I just wish I would've thought to do the iron banner bounties and hold onto them for the light level increase.
-
No, they just thought ahead and had an inventory of powerful gear, anyone could have done the same 😂
-
Considering the only way to level up to be content ready is to glitch 3 characters and grind out exotics.... YES. STEAMERS.
-
8 RepliesWow, people who get to dedicate their lives to one thing have an advantage over those who don't? Who would have thunk it?
-
2 RepliesWho gives a -blam!- about worlds first lol
-
Obviously they do. But it IS their job.
-
I think back to vog. Some were streamers but most were just people who picked up the game. Yes the ones who did stream finished it first but mostly everyone wad just a normal gamer.

2 RepliesDoes an NBA player have an advantage over the guy who plays basketball with us mates for fun each week? Does the F1 driver have an advantage over the guy who tracks his tuned car once a month? Does a streamer who plays video games for a living have an advantage over someone who only plays 2-4 hours a day? Stupid post, stupid argument. People who play this game for a living are going to get world first, not some rands who play 4 nights a week. Stop putting pointless shit posts up.

10 RepliesPlaying a game nonstop and building a community that supports you doesn't count as streamer perks. They're more likely to complete content first because that's their job.
-
2 RepliesI don't see why they would. They don't get any in-game bonuses to give them an advantage.
-
Edited by SckidMarx: 12/6/2018 1:45:25 AMIf peepole can play the game all day every day because they're unemployed or because they play the game for a living so anyone who has the time to grind will be at an advantage over peepole who don't....I don't think it has anything to do with whether or not they're streamers
-
F*ck Bungie suck streamers. They ruined this game.
-
It absolutely favours those who are able to put in far more time into the game than the average person. Whether this player 'streams' or create videos on the game is not too important, they simply need to be able to play many hours every day leading up to the Raid launch. This wouldn't be the case however if Bungie didn't set the date literally three days after the content update. If the Raid released on the 14th, then this problem of needing to dedicate multiple hours a day wouldn't exist and people who may be good at the game but can't commit the time would also have a decent shot at the title. Bungie decided to make the "Worlds First" achievement important by giving out physical trophies and exclusive jackets to players and giving their accounts rare drops and exclusive emblems. Do these rewards matter? Not really, but it is more about the principle.

14 Repliestl;dr—people who play more level faster and understand the game better. Amazing insight, bro.
-
Some are near 630 lol others even saved Iron Banner bounties and they were powerful rewards!

I didnt bother to read this whole thing but yeah they do. They have a whole spectator list to give feedback on stuff they dont pick up on. But they also have to have dedicated time to the game not only on the raid day but every day leading up to it. Streamers and youtubers will grind a dlc until the raid drops just to have the power advantage. And so they also have new content to make. They earn there right to attempt to be worlds first, and any advantage that comes with, there job is to literally play the game and make content. Nobody should expect to be worlds first just because they play the game, unless you have the time, dedication, and skill, you dont deserve to have the title. Everyone can try, go for it, but dont expect to be better than the best teams in the world because you play, thats just pure entitlement to the max.

3 RepliesThis is a link to people's current lightlevel, the raid will be hard simply because Of The power level being higher (artificial handicap). Clan redeem and other streaming clans that are grinding light level will get the "world's 1st" simply because they have the time to grind out light. Also PC has proven to be the platform for world's 1st with keyboard and mouse aiming doing things ya can't do on console. I acknowledge that some of these streamers are very good players. But I really hate the fact that people call shit world's 1st as only a handful of people have a realistic chance of doing it. I'm away for work until Saturday so watched a few videos and people were going is this the world's 1st forge completion like WTF play the game.
-
5 RepliesStreamers don't get benefits from devs. They are just great players that play the game a lot. I don't see you soloing kali or 2 manning riven.
-
HOW TO UNLOCK THE FORGE! Actual streamer video. This is sad. I KNOW nobody needs to watch YouTube to figure this one out. Even the streamers got no new content.
-
9 Repliesthe better players will always be first. why people concern themselves with things that have nothing to do with them is beyond me. play your game, that's the only thing you have control over, and should be the only gamer you are concerned over. how much time someone else plays is their business, if streamers are so hated by these people here why do you still watch and support them, you viewers are the reason they exist yet you seem offended that they achieve things before you. asinine
-
3 RepliesDo I think playing this game eight hours a day will give someone an advantage over someone playing only two hours a day? Yes, yes I do. I'm also better at my job than people that do it just for fun, too.
-
Worlds first is for people who don't have to work, at least for that moment in time, or for those with no family, or streamers of course, whose job it is to play Destiny.
-
3 RepliesAbsolutely, this entire game is now focused primarily for streamers.
-
I couldn't care less. I'll complete the game at my own pace and reserve most of my free time to my family and other more important things. This is a hobby of mine, not my job.
-
It's like gathering a group of friends and expecting to win the super bowl against a professional team. I would love to see a group of people no one has ever heard of win this world's first for the raid. Just a bunch of randoms through lfg.
-
Of course they do. D2 is their "job". They can play up to 24 hrs/day (not likely, but they could) every day until that raid comes out - farming all the milestones and prime engrams until they are as high as possible before starting it on Friday. The rest of us get a few hrs/night (maybe) and there's no way we'll be up to spec in time.
