Destiny 2 has been heading in a more grind oriented direction since warmind; Personally, I love it, but I can understand why some people wouldn't. To me, and the games I'm used to playing like PoE (An ARPG) and Warframe, this kind of grind is basically nothing. It can be accomplished in 2 weeks; I've spent 2 months with less return on investment.
Currently, the Destiny 2 community is effectively at war with itself; And seemingly no compromise is in sight.

So you’re okay with spending $30 on something you can’t actually play for 2 more weeks? It’s like going to a restaurant, being made to pay up front, and then being told you have to grow the grain for the bread, raise and then slaughter the livestock, and then prepare all the food yourself. It’s just idiotic
-
Both you and the OP are still implying that you paid 30$ purely for black armory, and that's very un-true. you paid 30$ for a year's worth of updates. More so when from the very start Bungie stated there was no new story content, no new destinations, just updates to the game, new armor/weapons, and a new raid experience. Everyone complaining about this is a moron, ya'll are the ones who had stupid expectations, even though we've been told what it was from the start.
-
Right? MFs don’t listen or keep up to date and then complain. Like if you doubt Bungie don’t buy the annual pass.
-
Except that $30 is gone now. Not over time. I have effectively paid for something I can’t play. And they made it seem like the vendors were all getting new weapons. That there would be a lot of new stuff to chase. It’s the first -blam!-ing forge and most of us can’t even complete it without going back to the same shit we were already doing. I saw someone compare it to buying a car. You wouldn’t pay for a car and then have the company send you it piece by piece over time. That would be infuriating.
-
Edited by Ursoc: 12/11/2018 6:26:39 PMEven if that car analogy was good one, let me point something out to you and whoever made it originally since you are both morons, yeah you wouldn't pay for a car and have parts sent to you over time, but you would have to continue making payments, with interest until it was fully paid off. A car is an entire ballpark away from optional dlc in a videogame. Get over yourself. EDIT: also there's a roadmap that says exactly what was in this content update, so yet again everyone complaining still had the chance to see what was in it before purchasing, unless you bought it bundled with forsaken (in which case you're still stupid before purchasing something before you fully knew what it was)
-
The same concept applies. You wouldn’t pay for something that you had no access to the day it was available. The car you make payments on but you get the whole car all at once. That’s why the analogy works. You wouldn’t make payments on a car that you couldn’t drive or use just like most of us would not have bought the annual pass if we had been told we would have to grind for weeks more to be able to even start the content in it
-
Thanks for proving my original point. You're right I wouldn't purchase something like that, because I'm not stupid, and I don't make impulse purchases, and actually take the time to look into what I'm buying. Also just because you're low level and couldn't finish the activity, doesn't mean you were sold content you didn't have access to. it's 100% there to play, get gud.
-
Sounds like you’re having a real rough morning. Maybe you wanna take a deep breath to calm down from all the bungie brown nosing?
-
I'm having a great morning actually 8.1 for WoW new DBD patch, new destiny 2 content. It's amazing that calling someone out on horrible spending is brown nosing bungie though, thanks for that laugh. I'll lump you into the moron category too
-
“Horrible spending” is buying an annual pass for content for a game that I enjoy playing and then being miffed because that content is inaccessible? You’re obviously correct as I’m sure you’ve never bought something and not gotten what you wanted or expected
-
Horrible spending is buying an annual pass for ANY game without first looking into what it actually contains, and then bitching about getting exactly what you paid for. Just because you're bad and couldn't do the content day one you complain. hard to complete =/= inaccessible, and that is why you are a moron.
-
But you’re not defending bungie? Lol there was nothing in anything about the annual pass that the first forge would be the only way to unlock the new content and that said forge would be insanely over leveled because bungie can’t create innovative content. You also never answered my question so I assume you’re some sort of clairvoyant and you’ve never bought something and not gotten what you expected.
-
No I really haven't, I've gotten things broken on arrival but that's a faulty product, not false advertisement. It's called research, and don't impulse buy.
-
What research was there that would have told me I’d have to spend an extra week after black armory’s release grinding the same content in order to play the new stuff? I didn’t impulse buy the annual pass. I bought it knowing that it was the only way to get new content and expecting that when bungie said “constant content” they meant content that was playable without having to mindlessly grind even more of the same stuff we’ve been doing for months. And technically BA is a faulty product. Bungie has already lowered the light level and said there will be other changes to the forge and the way that content is accessed.
-
Watching a streamer, waiting for a destiny youtubers review, reddit, etc.
-
Honestly I bought the annual pass when I got forsaken so I was thinking that the seasons would offer significant content releases. I was wrong. I can accept that. But it still doesn’t make it okay that bungie gated the black armory behind the forge and called the forge “end game” content
-
Your analogies are all offset. You compare it too all the wrong things, intentionally or not; First, you blow $30 out of proportion by comparing it too a car Second, while a car is useless without a full set, many parts of a game can be enjoyed, with or without the full set Third, you are playing a game based around grinding for power and gear; and you expect bungie to grant access to the currently most difficult activity to just anyone week 1?
-
When has content ever come out that was unplayable like this? The answer is never. Why make a light level cap and then arbitrarily override it to draw out content? How about a different analogy: Lets say you own a farm. You grow the crops and tend the livestock. One day a neighbor offers to sell you his acreage so you can expand your farm. You buy the acreage because the neighbor tells you it’s readily farmable and ready for grazing. You take possession of the land a short time later only to find out you have remove thousands of rocks by hand from the land to even use it and you’ll have to keep grazing your livestock on the old land because the new land isn’t ready like it was supposed to be. You can defend bungie all you want. Hell I’ve defended them in the past. But there is no excuse for no new vendor gear (now over 2000 tokens with no reason to turn them in) and an activity that would have been difficult but is made impossible for no apparent reason.

Week 1 of EP getting to wave 7 says hi
-
But escalating protocol wasn’t the only new thing to do. And beating level 7 wasn’t required to do everything else on the DLC.
When has content ever come out that was unplayable like this?
It's not unplayable; You're not high enough light to finish it. You are acting impatient.
Why make a light level cap and then arbitrarily override it to draw out content?
It's called growing stronger. It's step 1 of progression oriented game design
How about a different analogy:
How about we don't use analogies. All of them are flawed, at least the ones you come up with; In your new "farm" example, the seller falsely advertised his product. Bungie has done no such thing; they made it clear from ground zero that not everything would be available from the get go. If you never realized that, that is on you. And lets keep going with this, because your last paragraph is just you whining about in game difficulty; In your farm example, you are still expected to raise and feed and tend your cows (Your power level). Why would you try to graze a field for 20 cows when you have 5? You wouldn't, unless you can't do basic maths. So; 1. The new land was never supposed to be immediately ready 2. You can do the new content, you're just too busy . . . 3. . . . Whining about in game difficulty and the inherent grind associated with it.

I disagree; If you wish for a form of passive entertainment - such as a restaurant or television - there is no reason to wait upon payment. However, with active entertainment, primarily games and by extension videogames, the grind is good - it's healthy. It's setting a goal and accomplishing it. A much better analogy than your example would be; Paying $60 for an MMO title (Such as D2), and being able to play the raid as soon as you finish the tutorial. It doesn't make any sense; The raid - even attempting it - should be prestigious and difficult, especially during the first week it comes out. The same can be said for this forge; Completing it week 1 should be a sign of devotion, effort, time, and skill - having all of these in greater quantity than the average player.
