A bit of context, the Sorrow MG2 is a common arc SMG you get early in the game, it's the weapon you get after Ghaul yeets you off his ship. Normally, this weapon is almost immediately replaced, why hang onto it?
Well, thing is, if you get a character to level 50, 600 power and go to your collections, you can pull Sorrow MG2 out at 580... with no level requirement. Which means that you can put it on your brand new baby character that was, as said before, about to get yote off a ship. (not my image) This was really good, because it took away the primary annoyance of replaying content, having to grind again. This let me breeze my Hunter through Forsaken without having to grind through Gambit and Strikes like I did with my Warlock.
Except, this was stealth changed, as the main link shows (Edit: The image isn't showing up for me, so I'll post the link here too.) Currently, Sorrow MG2 has a level requirement like every other weapon in the game, and that means that, until you hit level 20 and can put Horror Story and Thunderlord on a new character, you're stuck having to slowly grind through the power levels.
I can get the theory behind this, if you have a weapon that's at 580 when the rest of your stuff is 20, it can skew your total Light and make the content too easy. Thing is, Bungie... if I can get Sorrow MG2 at 580, that means that I have at least one 600 character, which means that, at the very least, I've cleared Forsaken (I've done everything, but the point still stands.) Horror Story and Thunderlord mitigate the impact a bit, but they can't be equipped until level 20, which means you're still going through the base game normally. And, I think we can all agree... why would you want to do it two or three times like that?
So, please, change it back to the way it was. Keep the common, no perks SMG good for what it was good for, boosting alt characters up to endgame quickly.
