Regarding the Crow (Spoilers)

With a certain Awoken Prince being resurrected as a Guardian, a lot of people have made the assumption that Uldren will make his way to the Tower eventually. And that makes sense, given that Pulled Pork, the Ghost who likely resurrected Uldren, seems to be very dutiful and who’s priorities seem typical of most Little Lights. Which is to find a Guardian, guide them to the Tower and make sure they’re well prepared in the fight to protect the Traveler. The only problem I see is that Pulled Pork isn’t the only factor when it comes to where Uldren will end up right now. Although Uldren wouldn’t have any memory of his first life and wouldn’t think twice about going to the Last City, his “Final” Resting place was in the Dreaming City. A place that’s home to a lot of his past. He could be picked up by a group of Scorn who recognized him and Fikrul would be main influencer. He could be captured by a Corsair and brought back to the Reef, and who knows what they’d do to him there. He could even end up at the Oracle and make contact with his former Sister. There’s tons of places he could learn about his past in the Dreaming City, which would undoubtably give him a reason not to make contact with the Tower, the Vanguard or just about any other Guardian. Unmasked that is. Perhaps he'll stay out in the wilds, trying to keep to himself so he doesn’t get noticed. If this were the case, that old cutscene with the Guardian being held at gunpoint by him in Old Russia will probably finally get to see the light of day, with a fresh coat of paint I’d suspect. Or maybe he’ll go to the Tower, oblivious of his past life. That’d be quite the eventful homecoming, to say the least. Maybe a new Guardian with a tendency to keep his helmet on going by the name Crow will arrive that the Tower some time soon. Point is, there’s a lot of things could happen with this. How about you? What what do you think will happen?

  • I’m more interested in his personality going forward we know what he was like before so this is going to be a prime opportunity to observe how much becoming a guardian changes a person from who they used to be.

  • I’m looking forward to see what Bungie will do with the character. Uldren’s is one, if not the, most tragic story in Destiny and one of the few we can closely follow and see unfold in our guardian timeline. Born to be an outcast, he was reborn for the first time as an awoken, leaving his humanity behind along with everything else the darkness took away with the collapse. Brought up to manhood by a scheming and manipulative sister, without a guidance to shape his personality, serving her whims with the outmost loyalty and devotion, without a second thought. All he ever wanted was to be loved and respected, to be acknowledged as an awoken. Instead he was cast out to live and operate in the shadows along with his crows, always under Mara’s shoes. The he gets killed and reborn a second time, tainted by the darkness, compelled to do horrible things, despicable things to himself, to his own people, manipulated, driven by the one single desire he ever had his whole life: satisfy his sister’s will and win her approval. The he dies one more time to be reborn again, this time free of the darkness, free of his memories, free of Mara’s influence and blessed by the light. But he’ll be hated and scorned wherever he chooses to go, probably hunted down without awareness of all the horrors he committed. Whatever chance of redemption he’ll get will already be weighted against him as he’s already condemned for his past actions on everyone’s eyes. But was he ever truly evil? Was he ever the villain he ended up becoming? Sure he was a dick and a pompous prick. And he did kill Cayde. But looking hard on his story he was never really the bad guy.

  • Uldren Sov: The only character I empathized with in Destiny ever. Can't wait to see more of him. This has potential for a redemption story. Cayde: The only character I gave two two craps about next to Uldren and Mara. He was my favorite. Zavala: My most hated character because of his incompetence as a leader.

    • My favorite part about it is when riven told uldren he's a "brave, devoted, naive fool" before he dies. Fulfilling all the qualifications

    • I think this is a Mara setup. Its a long shot, but I think she will let Uldren go back to the tower to sew chaos in the vanguard. She has always been okay with carrying out her plans alone, leaving him in the dark, letting him die, etc. I think she had him left out like that knowing that PP was around and looking. She knows Zavala will forgive him and hand over the position to him. She knows Ikora, Shaxx, Banshee, Petra and others will be outraged. She said herself that she doesnt like guardians. She said herself she should have destroyed the Traveler. I'm sure she is hoping that once Savathun and the Hive come knocking, Guardians wont be unified. She would be able to take out two players in the long game that way.

    • He wasn’t resurrected as a Guardian. He is a Risen. Not a full on Guardian. He doesn’t fight for the City. He’s no Guardian of anything.

          • I honestly hope he becomes the Hunter Vanguard. His past as spymaster proved that he is exceptional at recon, and hopefully he can maintain that status despite the memory loss. He is very determined at whatever he does, and seeing as he is the brother of Mara, that could give us a hand over her. Mara may be conniving and heartless, but we know she has a soft spot for her brother, she even told us directly that she despises us for killing him. Whatever plan she's making that involves us, Guardians are considered to be disposable, so perhaps that would change now that he's (potentially) with us. I imagine that Shiro or one of Cayde's Hunter buddies will advocate for him to be the vanguard, considering that he left the job to whoever killed him. Hunters have been known to be true to their word, despite the consequences that may entail. I imagine Ikora will probably be the one to lose her cool, despite her calm collected attitude, and Zavala will be cautiously optimisitic. Everyone may be running around condemning him, but he has alot of potential and even more to make up for. I say give him the chance to earn his redemption, because we won't regret it.

i hope they introduce a darkness subclass through Uldren, after all the awoken are shady AF and their own powers are kind of a mistery to humans even to guardians plus Uldren has been Mind controlled by Riven the Ahamkara with strong ties to the taken who are now being Led by The New taken Queen, and even if he has no past memories at least we know he's body is capable of sustaining some degree of dark/hive power after all Awokens are kind of a mix between light and dark, making their bodies perfect Vessels for a dark energy

I think Mara is behind his coming back to life. And its for a reason. Cayde's killer as a Guardian is a dilemma no one considered. She just said that she was not happy with our vengeance regarding her brother. Who gave Pulled Pork a shiny new Reef Shell as a gift as in in her lore entry ??, a Reef Shell is surely a gift only an Awoken would bestow .. and how did Pulled Pork get to the Dreaming City and find Uldren's body in the first place ?? .. He seems to be resting in an as yet unseen area suggesting someone laid him to rest in accordance with Awoken tradition. Petra Venj. Either ourselves or Petra shot Uldren. And we didn't have anything to do with his body after death. So its logical to assume that Petra did and laid him to rest. And who does Petra Venj take her orders from and act on behalf of ?? I think Uldren will go to the Tower. But not right away. Pulled Pork will surely know about the death of Cayde, and Cayde's will said that whoever killed him becomes the next Hunter Vanguard. Ikora and Zavala wont like it and I think that is what Mara Sov wants, sowing discord in the Vanguard. She isn't our friend. She is dealing with forces we don't know who don't like us and who she doesn't want us to know about (remember us being asked to leave before her next visitor), Toland warned us about how we are just doing what she wants and lest not forget she was the one in league with Riven before we killed Riven and set the curse in motion. At the invitation of Mara Sov who until then kept us well clear of The Dreaming City. Was the "manipulation" of Uldren all "part of the plan" she goes on about ??, I think destroying the Vanguard, Guardians and ultimately the Traveller (which she has openly voiced her dislike of) is her endgame. Her priority is the Awoken, hell an Awoken character is greeted in the Dreaming City by Petra as "cousin".

This makes me wonder why we see our weapons in the tower. We can’t use them, and we rarely see them on our backs in game, and I don’t know about you but I couldn’t care less what a gun looks like on my back in an FPS, especially when it makes little sense why we ever only see the one. Mass Effect did a great job of making the weapon “carrying” look realistic. I only bring it up because if I’m carrying a gun in the tower when Uldren shows up, I’m probably inclined to use it. And I can’t. Which is annoying. That’s all.

                    • I would expect everyone to know who killed Cayde and would react accordingly. New guardian or not everyone, mostly you, Zavala, Ikora, and Petra would probably kill him on sight. PP would hopefully be competent enough to keep him away from the Scorn or try to take advantage of their devotion to him and Mara would probably disown him if not for his actions then him being a guardian now. The awoken want him to stay dead, the Tower wants him to stay dead, he has nowhere to go and no one to turn to. His ghost would be the only reason he sees the interior of the tower without being in chains and the only person who would defend him is dead or at least still missing.

This is probably one of the most interesting story decisions made by bungie and its a wowzer. They could do so much with this. Imagine Uldrin actually becoming a character we care about over time, can you see Ikora and Zavala would react.

                      • Guess it all depends on how quickly Ikora gets to him. But then again, when does a voidwalker need to be near you to do harm
