I've watched the cut scene where Jorge drops you out of the space station at the end of the level a bunch of times, and maybe I'm missing something, but how does N6 survive?
I didn't think the Spartan III armor was that strong... I know Master Chief survives a similar fall at the beginning of Halo 3, but it never shows N6 impacting the planet. Your health is low at the beginning of Exodus, but still... that's a hardcore fall from orbit.
Guess N6 is just that BA.

I think it was Armour Lock because if I remember correctly thats how Master Chief survived in the beginning of Halo3 the marines say "He's armour is still locked"
Posted by: HandDrawnHero my friend said that its more explained in a comic somewhere? but yeah he/she whatever floats your boat is wearing a re-entry pack
Your friend is likely referring to Armor Testing which I mentioned in my earlier post. Here's a little visual treat to get the gist of what went on in that story. Keep in mind that this is about Mark VI armor testing, not Mark V. As we saw in Halo 3 and in this story, a Spartan can survive a fall and be combat ready with no visible injuries as long as the decent is slowed down to a degree. Mark V armor is uncharted territory and it seems that even with the Re-Entry Pack Noble 6 came off with injuries as a result of the reentry.
Posted by: Heberekeshikaku pay attention to cut scenes you can clearly see a rocket pack strapped to his back with big giant words that say "re-entry pack" As to how his armor could with stand the heat and tempertures of re-entry that is another case, as we don't know what is in the re-entry pack or how it functions exactly.
It's probably similar to how the re-entry pack worked in the "Armor Testing" story in the Halo Graphic Novel. Essentially the armor (or at least the Mark VI) is resilient enough to withstand the heat by itself, but the re-entry pack was deployed in a similar manner to a regular parachute to slow down the remainder of the descent. Though there's some difference in that in Armor Testing the Spartan was able to slow down enough to land combat ready the second she hit the ground whereas Noble Six was injured to some extent during the landing.
Posted by: BRICKchiken Where the hell does it mention or show a re-entry pack? there aren't even any jet packs on Long Night of Solace that i can remember.
Its not Gameplay usable equipment, Waldo... its that THICK piece of metal hanging from his back in the cutscenes...

LOL, true. Thanks for the answers, can always count on Halo community.

It is ONI protocall that "All spartans have to be issued with Re-Entry packs if going on a 'high risk space mission' ...Just in case Jorge pushes you out the ship"
-
He has a back pack that says Re-Entry Unit on it. Look during the cutscenes.

Watch the cutscene again, and notice on his back it says Re-Entry unit. Which is probably the jetpack.
-
Since that incredible fall would have given him MASSIVE fall damage, he carried his trusty jetpack of awesomeness. JETPACK FOR THE WIN!!! But in all seriousness, he does use a re-entry pack to slow his decent. That's the thing he grabs the pistol from and what he has on his back when he jumps out of the Sabre

Lol. Everyone gives a proper answer and then you fail :D

Similarly to Master Chief, the gel layer most likely locked. He is wearing MJOLNIR armor. I think Exodus takes place about 10 days after Long Night of Solice, so Six was probably laying there for a while until the armor's systems decided it was okay to unlock.

Re-entry pack on his back.
-
I swear in one of the cutscenes I saw "Re entry" on some equipment on Noble 6's back. Maybe it someone to do with that. ah, I'm too slow. [Edited on 09.27.2010 10:51 PM PDT]

in more lamer terms. He used a jetpack to slow his fall.
