This is coming from a person that uses that weapon 99% of the time.
Nerfs are sometimes needed.
Buffing everything else to OP status isn't the best solution.
On that note everyone knows the real reason for the Ikelos nerf..Gambit.

I don't even see it as a nerf. It's basically just a gentle tap on the wrist
-
I still use it in gambit. It works fine

2 RepliesIt was a fair nerf imo. It’s not like they could’ve buffed every weapon to match it, and the fact that it was king for so long begets some balancing. Besides, it is still probably the best special DPS weapon in the game, except for maybe Coldheart or Merciless. Definitely the best legendary.

1 ReplyIt's still the best sg to use in pve

Until we get another full auto shotgun with trench barrel it's still going to be the BiS option for like 99% of PvE content.
-
I don’t see how taking away the ability to do any amount of damage to a PvE enemy is a good thing. BIS. So what? You could still use any gun in the game if you wanted. Might not be “optimal” but who cares? It’s PvE. Everything dies anyway. My guess is TB is coming to other SGs but Bungie doesn’t want SGs to rule PvE because....doing damage is bad? I would have thought they would develop incentives to use other weapons through bounties or quests in order to change up the PvE weapon meta. Seems a like a better option. Give people more reason to use different load outs for rewards instead of take my damage abilities away for nothing.

2 RepliesYeah ep shotgun is “totally rampant” in gambit. Because nobody uses queenbreaker, mba, malfeasance. Lmao
-
Hopefully Queenbreakers is next, nothing major, just an Aim assist nerf.
-
Yeah I mean it was inevitable. There was really no reason to ever have a different weapon in your secondary slot so it kind of had to happen. It was fun while it lasted but it's good to move on and have some new crazy guns to play with. I do hope they continue to make some crazy powerful weapons that come close to reaching that level though.

6 RepliesOn that note, I’m gonna go take the hemi engine out of my car and put a lawn mower engine in there since nerfs are sometimes needed.
-
Go away nerfing Jerry. No one wants nerfs.

I’m fine with it I guess. But now none of the special weapons in that slot feel special. They all feel muted. I can’t remember the last time I equipped a fusion there, let alone an exotic there in PvE. Whisper, sleeper, thunderlord, and 1k voices dominate the heavy slot. I don’t think a special weapon exotic could compete with those in PvE. Snipers feel just trashy in PvE if they aren’t whisper. Box breathing feels horrible, it needed a nerf but it’s nerf was so much that it put the Ikelos shotgun in its position to begin with. I’d much rather have box breathing last for 3 shots then stop than one, like trench barrel. Might bring snipers back into the lime light in PvE.

5 RepliesLol Gambit. If you are not using Melting Point and Blade Barrage or Chaos reach your team is trash. Ikelos SG in Gambit means absolutely nothing.

4 RepliesWith 3 synthoceps and a well, you could use a marshmallow gun.

The nerf hurt because the gun shoot really fast, and it's so hard to just shoot 3 shell and melee and shoot other 3,... But if we can random roll trench barrel on other shotgun, for example, a more slow shooting like an agressive frame one which we can count and total control every shot to get exactly melee after 3 shot, can trench barrel great again ? I asked this because in new vdoc there is a new rapid fire archetype ( seriously Bungie? ) kinetic shotgun that have trench barrel.

Get out. Your negative vibes aren’t welcome here.
