Destiny 2 Update stuck at Initializing

Destiny 2 just had an update, the download started just fine, downloaded about 3GBs from the 13.8 GBs and then i got to this problem. This was exactly an issue when i wanted to download the game itself, after many hours of trying i just had to bother a friend to give me the game copied on a USB stick. Can anyone give me a proper fix for this as i'm really losing patience. Thanks in advance, Monoceros.

After a while of waiting to do it's thing, the initializing thingy didn't go away, so i tinkered with it myself. Let me give you a step by step guide on what i did that fixed it for me. 1. Close battle.net launcher completely 2. Go to the location where your Destiny 2 is located 3. CUT, i repeat CUT the entire folder and move it to anywhere else. 4. Open Battle.net launcher 5. Destiny 2 now appears to be gone from your pc, so click the Install button 6. The installation window pops up, now choose the original path of the Destiny 2 folder (the path where you cut the folder from). Leave it be for now 7. Now cut the Destiny 2 folder again, and move it back to it's original location, and then hit install on the Battle.net install popup window 8. The game begins installation, but first it checks for existing files if you did it right. 9. For me the game began updating after waiting for about 10 minutes on the download bar saying "Waiting...", from there the update downloaded and installed just fine, a lot slower than it should've, but the game works now.

    • This is insane. I started my update at 10:30 am and it is now 6:30 pm. Is this a joke to you Bungie? I spent my hard earned money on this game and you can't even make the updated playable?! Its stuck on initializing but every now and then It stops and just says update again, after pressing update it goes back to initializing. Pathetic and please help...

      • Quick update. Turns out the game and game files are actually being downloaded while the BNet App says 'Initializing". You can check by looking at the D2 install folder growing in size and number of files. At some point, the Initializing state will stop and the Play button will appear. However paired with this problem you can have a message saying there were connection issues and the update could not continue. In this case close the BNet App, kill the BNet Agent process and run the BNet App again (as an administrator if possible). It will go back to initialising state and you can check if the install folder is being updated.

      • I also had the same exact issue. D2 downloading got stuck at around 3gb left to finish the update, i closed the battle.net app, and restarted it. It got stuck on initializing. I left it initializing for almost 24 hours without any change. Then i went to check local disk files (ready to start messing the whole thing like the Mod suggests...) but, i noticed i only had 1.6gb of free disk space available in that drive... I cleaned some other game installs and got 20gb free, and restarted battle.net app. After 20mins i got the PLAY button... Hope this helps PS - Bungie.net Moderator... I think you guys can do a better support than just sugesting players with issues to delete 100gb and download again... LOL that is so hilarious, as we are in 2018 ffs! FIX YOUR GAME!!!

Hi. Just let it keep initializing until it completes. Update: If players are still having issues, you may want to follow the below steps, which might help with your issue:
1. Completely uninstall both Destiny 2 and the Battle.net application 2. Delete the following local cache/settings directories:
– %APPDATA%\Bungie\DestinyPC - %PROGRAMDATA%\Battle.net – %APPDATA%\Battle.net – %LOCALAPPDATA%\Battle.net More Information:
*WARNING* Deleting these will cause you to lose persisted settings, such as logged in users, keybinds and graphics settings in Destiny, etc. The directory names above are actual paths that can be used in Windows Explorer. For example, if you enter "%PROGRAMDATA%" in the Windows Explorer address bar, it will automatically take you to C:\ProgramData (default), which is a hidden directory.

3. Reinstall the Battle.net app and Destiny 2
• Used to get same issue just to share my situation; 1. I must uninstall av in my case Bitdefender Total Security uninstaller to clean up av 2. Copy Destiny 2 folder into somewhere else ( mine different drive) 3. Uninstall Destiny 2 from Bnet application 4. Uninstall Bnet Desktop App 5. Delete all Bnet related folder in program files, program data, application data 6. Reinstall Bnet client, reinstall Destiny 2 and get 10 mb download then paused and exit Bnet app 7. Copy Destiny 2 previously backup on step 2 into new downloaded Destiny 2, overwrite everything 8. Start Bnet app and resume destiny download, wait for initialize and look at your task manager, drive for Destiny 2 should high activity due to verify...don't mess during this time. It took about 3 minutes on my 850 Evo SSD to verify 75GB be patient.

Happens with every patch for me. I can sit here reclicking update every 20mins when the launcher finally shits itself with initialising until it magically decides to work after 24 hours or more. It's Retarded . And none of these pathetic fixes actually does anything.
