Here an Exotic Armor and quest idea, up-vote if you like, down-vote if you don't care
The name of the exotic quest is called, Increased Resistance, and the armor is called Elemental Reduction Robes, Vest, and Plate, (Main Perk,reduce incoming damage from Ark, Void, and Solar by 50% and random rolls): Quest Step 1 Get 100 Ark kills on Nessus , Quest Step 2 Get 100 Void kills on Io, Quest Step 3 Get 100 Solar kills on Mercury, Quest Step 4 Get 30 Precision kills with a kinetic weapon in the EDZ, Quest Step 5 Complete 20 bounties, Quest Step 6 Complete 10 Strikes or Complete 10 crucible matches, Quest Step 7 Wait till reset and claim your prize from Amanda Holiday or Xur.

it seems that we could do something with this to make it feel much more specil however, maybe have it block the damage of the elemnet for that matches you current weapon (if kinetic, matches all for 25% or somthing) but nothing like a block and reduce all, it seems a bit much, but it would be a total game breaker in crucible the way you described it
