Can we address the 1.7% of people on PS4 who completes the Last Wish Raid?

This is a horrible indication of how challenging/intimidating this new Raid is. I do not know the numbers on Xbox or PC, but I’m imagining it’s hovering around the same percentages if not less. Something needs to change

  • It's not challenging or intimidating to me. I will not complete this Raid because Bungie intentionally left a glitch in play to ensure their Streamers got World's First. The same group that glitched their way to Leviathan World's First after Bungie stated glitching would result in disqualification. Bungie's pet streamers can have the Raid and PvP (aka account recovery playground). Triumphs and quests be damned. The basement dwelling Mama's boys run this game not Bungie.

    • I think it’s a mix. You’ve got people who have barely played destiny, those who play some and their light isn’t high enough, those who have no desire to do it, and those who are 600 or close enough that either don’t have a clan to do it with or are intimidated to try it. I know not everyone is in a great clan but I’m very thankful for mine. We’ve brought several first timers through successfully. It really only takes some patience and people willing to explain the encounters and not freak out when you don’t one shot a boss.

Something needs to change
Ummmm Last Wish is one of the easiest raids to learn and teach. We often carry a couple noobs through as every fight has roles for "just kill stuff" while the other 4 players do majority of mechanics.... and I'm in a group that absolutely NEVER cheeses so I'm including the Riven fight legit. IMO, the way they developed this raid is the right direction. Have mechanics that have to be figured out and learned but not that require all 6 players to execute the mechanics. The initial learning curve was steep but once over it, it's easy to run and easy to teach. The ONLY thing I think they need to improve on is making encounters that can't be cheesed to completely bypass all mechanics.

      • Probably the easiest raid.

        • The 1.7% is based off of total D2 owners, that includes anyone who hasn't played Forsaken. For example, only 10.5% have entered the Dreaming City, 11.4% have won a Gambit match, and 4.3% have defeated a Forsaken Nightfall boss. The PSN percentages are far from being an accurate representation of the active playerbase.

        • Loads of people picked up the game when it was free, played it a little bit, never to return. That'll take up quite a decent percentage right there.

        • It will test a groups strength for sure.. But it is worth it. Study a guide and make it happen. The ads are of no concern once above 570. The hardest part is riven and doing it properly.. but cheese it and worry about the proper way later once your team has the raid down and you are not 5 hours into it. But the raid really is not that hard once a team understands the mechanics of each encounter. It took us 3 raids to get it down solid and two of those was letting a player figure it out rather than telling them what to do because they wanted the challenge not ruined.

          • I've only beaten the Calus Raid from start to finish. In D1 I played and beat all the raids multiple times. Raids aren't hard. Raids are tough until you get used to them but that's not the problem. The loot and the elitism is the problem. I am not enticed to want to play them and even if I were, as soon as I try to find a fireteam, I know I'm going to have to waste 30mins to an hour to find people who are nice enough to sherpa me through them. It wasn't super bad in D1 but it was there. Now when you get on the forums and look at posts for endgame activities or whatever you see it. It's not fun waiting to find a team and it's not fun to get crappy loot.

There are probably plenty of reasons that account for this besides the challenge factor (and it is challenging, especially the first time -- even when you know what to do, having it come together in practice is always a learning experience). But there's also: 1. People buy in, but leave when they find they don't like the game in general. 2. People finish the story and are satisfied. 3. More anticipated games from bigger names come out. 4. People don't like raids. I don't particularly like raids, after the first couple times -- they're as repetitive as everything else in a loot shooter, and they chew up more of your time. One-or-two-and-done is how I usually treat them. 5. People get frustrated with other aspects of the game, and leave for greener pastures.

That is also 1.7% of people who have played destiny. Not 1.7% of people who have forsaken. The game was free for a while too, there will have been loads of people who booted it up, played for 2 hours and then never came back. Similarly, a huge amount of people will never have played past the base game.

                • the problem as I see it.. 1. Raids are an investment in time people who have alot of time to learn the raid will, and will fail often. Those with little time, seem to almost demand that those who put the time in to learning and failing, will help them through the raid, lessening the time requirements.. those who did put the time in, do not always want to waste time like this and so those with little time, simply choose not to raid. 2. People overall are not invested in the game as they were in D1. This is a more casual crowd for D2. They want to just go shoot stuff, little coordination, little objective just shoot. you see it in every game mode of pvp, people shoot stuff forgoing the objective, gambit, how many peopel kill the envoys, the just pick up motes or shoot stuff.. raids requrie thought, coordination and an investment in the game mechanics. The raids arn't harder, they just are what they are, end game activity for those who want to put in the time and effort.

                  • Less people are playing than actually own the game, if you look at how many people actually entered the dreaming city that gives you a better idea of how many active players player the last wish raid.

I've only got two clears, but have done everything up to Riven a number of times (mostly because my group clears the vault and stops with the intent of coming back for Riven... but then we have problems getting everyone back on). Once you understand the mechanics the raid isn't all that difficult. IMO the only "hard" part is the running section right after Riven...and the 1000 Voices RNG in the chest room.

                  • Raids aren't for everyone. They are for teams who want a harder challenge and can communicate. Don't see my thing wrong with that, there is plenty of 'easy' content to do.

                      • How many % of the total player base is appropriate power level to even attempt the raid? I know you can't answer that but looking at achievements on xbox (the numbers are roughly similiar to PS4) only 13,10% even entered the Dreaming City - which is a requirement to even try the raid.

Go watch Dattos raid guides and actually try to learn it. The hardest part riven is cheesed currently. If the completion rate is low it isn’t because it’s hard lol I’ve done it once and even in that one time nothing felt that hard
